Hi
So i just bought vorpx, and im getting REALLY low fps in most games.
Dishonoured for example runs at over 150-200fps on my monitor at max settings. But with vorpx geometry 3d, even at a lower resolution with settings turned down im struggling to get 30.
Its fine if i go up against a wall or something where its not graphically intensive, but general gameplay is practically impossible
Deus ex human revolution cant even get 20fps on medium settings.
Is this normal?
I have an i7 2700k OC’d to 4.6 GHz and a 980ti
To complete the information, i’ve been playing for a while and noticed some oddities on the controls in VR, for example i cant aim using headtrack while moving around. Therefore headtracking seems of use just to look around, or to aim from a steady position. I got used to this very quickly and should’nt be a problem but maybe lowering the difficulty level from normal to easy will offer a better balance to the experience as the game seemed to be more difficult in VR due to this and some more oddities like the third person cover system and the lack of VR positional tracking making the game a bit more challenging to play. Apart from that, i would say it was a good experience!
(Maybe Ralf should move this posts to the Deus Ex Thread so that they can be of help)
Points of view.. my games work great.
I just tried deus ex human revolution. It’s working, but took more than one hour to optimize via vorps settings, in game. And synchronisation is bugging with xbox controler, I must play directly on my keyboard.
And must notice that the quality of the textures is lower than half life 2 (2004) in VR (that is not requiering vorpx). I feel like playing a game of 2000 and not 2011…
I don’t like playing Deus Ex on the Vive so much. Which means that in my opinion that’s not one of the best VR adaptation. To see what Vorpx can do you should try other games especially Dishonored, Outlast, Bioshock Infinte, Aliens Colonial Marines, The Darkness 2… These are the ones i have offering best perfomance and easy configurations. Visually, they look great. But you will need a powerful rig to play in VR while keeping high resolution (1920×1440) and in game detail. Then it’s all about teaking and the way each games performs in VR. Some games may not be perfect but still highly playable, i would say Max Payne 3 and Duke Nukem Forever for example. Basic configuration is similar in most games but then you will see there’s always one or other little thing that can be fixed or adjusted to achieve the best experience.
Dude i tried Human Revolution: Directors Cut and it’s seems to be working quite well. It was one of the first games i tried and i couldn’t configure it properly that time. For your control problems i suggest to partially override the controller: both sticks but not the button. Then fine tune the sensibility of each sticks until it works well and do the same with head tracking sensibility. About the visual performance, i am getting very good results with gtx970. I set the resolution to 1920×1440, Fov 110, asyncronous time warp deactivated, lowered in game details. Then do the usual things like adjust the 3d strenght and image zoom. I just played a bit, i need further testing but i would say that this way it was working very well, and the game looked and sounded better than ever in this new prospective. I hope the vr gameplay will keep up but everything seems good so far!

Probably a concidence.
Multiple games (Crysis, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Aliens Colonial Marines, Deus Ex Human Revolution, GTA V, Star Wars: Battlefront) were tested here instantly after the original report (Oculus App Version 1.4.0.224375 (1.4.0.224996)). On two machines, with both CV1 and DK2.
Since also the other user could solve his issue it’s quite safe to say that your issue must have another cause – despite incidentally occuring after you updated Oculus Home.
The most common cause of vorpX not hooking is an injection conflict with some other program on your PC. The best way of trouble shooting in this regard is closing down every background process that would not be there after a fresh Microsoft only Windows install.
You can check logfiles by creating a trouble shoot data archive in the vorpX config app. Besides system information it also contains a logfile.
I tried various DX9 and DX11 titles here instantly after reading your post: Crysis, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Aliens Colonial Marines, Deus Ex Human Revolution, GTA V, Star Wars: Battlefront. All work fine. Maybe your update didn’t go through correctly.
Seems a simple restart after reinstalling vorpX fixed it. Sorry about that I just assumed oculus runtime updates automatically broke vorpX each time so figured I’d sound the alarm so you could get it figured out.

I purchased VORPX for my HTC Vive too and it is an interesting experience – however, only half of the games I’ve tried are working :
1) GTA V will not work : after seeing the GTA Launcher, I get a message “GTA5.exe not found, please re-install the game”. But that only happens when VORPX is loaded, otherwise it launches fine.
2) Deus Ex : with all settings to minimum and a very low resolution, I barely get 10 fps (although I have a GTX 980 ti and good CPU too).
3) Talos Principle : will not launch, I get a “Croteam crash reporter” (but then again, that is only if VORPX is loaded in memory)
4) Portal 1 and Half Life 2 will simply load normally on my screen and do not even show in the Vive.
Otherwise, Mass Effect 2, Portal 2, Alien Isolation and Mirrors Edge work fine …
I understand we are still Beta but was wondering if anybody had same problem and found a solution ?
There are already DX11 games with Geometry 3D. For example Battlefield 3, Bioshock Infinite, Deus Ex HR, F1 2013, F2014 and a few more. More will be added, but this will not be possible for everything.
Another “thank you” for continued support for 2D edge peek. While I prefer 3D for cut scenes, games like Dishonored, Deus Ex, & Thief have a ton of written materials & it’s much easier to read notes & emails & such with 2D edge peek.
Hello Ralf,
Could we have the ability to toggle 3D on/off with custom binded key presses, this would be a great addition to the software as it would help solve some 3D issues, so in the case of 3D breaking menus we could set 3D on/off to escape, so that would solve any menu issues with 3D.
Also, some people play games in 3D in indoor areas, but their PC cannot handle outdoor areas due to low FPS, or they have entered an areas where there are a lot of 3D anomalies (shadows, water Reflections) so in that case they could press a user defined key such as z or x and that would quickly set it to 2D with that key press, pressing z or x again would put it back to 3D.
I am currently playing Deus Ex (original) atm and every menu displays half in each eye making it semi-unreadable, I press F,C,R and Z to access the different menus, if vorpx also toggled between 2d/3d with those keypresses that would completely fix that issue making the game significantly more playable.
Thanks
Anyone tried to use a Helix mod to fix 3D anomalies in games when you use geometry 3D?
He makes fixes for games when the menus go out of alignment as well, would be very useful.
Tried to apply a fix myself for deus ex (original) as the menus are super broke in 3D, the fix didn’t work.
Okay in the tomb raider game it does NOT change the camera height, so there is no fear of collision detection, so if it could be done I would love camera pan modifier (even though I would only use it to move hud left/right when it acts like that in the game).
I am playing deus ex (original) at the moment, it works great in geometry 3D, however the hud only shows decently in one eye but is too far to the right.
now if I had a camera pan modifier that does exactly what camera height modifier does, but on the Z axis of the screen instead, then that would be much better.
Oh right of course it needs to be Directx9.
After downloading http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/index.htm and setting to DX9, I got Deus ex to work, anyone any tips on how to move the hud so I can see it?
