In reply to: Please wait forever.
zarlorParticipantI don’t have the other runtimes installed so I don’t think that’s it. I did notice in this thread, however, that another person with the same issue, edo, is having the same problem but noticed that “ok got a few games to run, eg skyrim, batman, fallout 4, however I never get rid of that “Please waiting” screen which launches as soon as I start vorpx.”
I do have Skyrim so I may try to see if vorpX interfaces with it correctly later. He did state that GTAV and the vorpX Desktop (I have tried the latter) did NOT work from him, though. I think Ralf may have also misinterpreted his claims of the grey screen sowing up as being the disclaimer screen rather than the “Please Wait…” screen. So we’re definitely seeing something hang. Ralf did mention in that thread that you can contact support [at] vorpx.com to get the previous version of vorpX that runs with the 0.8 runtime if you really want to get up and running right away. Personally I’m fine sticking it out and seeing if we can figure out what’s happening, though. So far I think we are seeing a common thread here of Windows 10, GTX 980 cards and using the DK2. I do have a CV1 on the way, but I’m a :45 order so I suspect I won’t see it until probably May so I can’t be much help on seeing if that makes a difference for us.

Mack1000ParticipantI’m having similar issues. I didn’t notice that my body was moving to be honest. Either way something is off.

[SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1
Apr 11, 2016 at 2:47pm #100691
Mack1000ParticipantIt’s hard to describe, but when I look right or left I the screen peels away from my view and I see off the edge of the screen; almost like it’s in cinema mode.
Yeah same for me (odd and difficult to describe). Its like a screwed up backwards virtual cinema mode (or edge peek). Fallout 4 was fine in the previous release. Glad its not just me. Head tracking seems backwards and there is a screen in front (virtual cinema works fine btw).
Same thing happens for me in Bioshock infinite and Alien isolation.
This doesn’t happen for Skyrim or Dishonored (completely fine in those two).

edoParticipantok got a few games to run, eg skyrim, batman, fallout 4, however I never get rid of that “Please waiting” screen which launches as soon as I start vorpx. I launch the games over top of that screen and they seem to work however upon exiting the game the dk2 screen goes black and hangs. I have to exit vorpx and then the oculus store/library comes back on the dk2. Something is not happy there!
Also still no luck with vorpx desktop.
I have reinstalled, rebooted, reinstalled again. Still no luck. I am hesitant to do a full uninstall first since I am afraid that might erase my license key. Anyway it works this way; sort of. The “please wait” and hangup still seems to be there but If I ignore them the few games I have tried, do work. (GTA still doesn’t work but that may be the GTA VR mod not ready for 1.3 sdk)
(Windows 10, DK2, SDK 1.3, NVidia 364.51 driver, gtx980ti )

TremFuryParticipantI’m getting the same thing. Sometimes the monitor goes blank and others the game displays there.
Sound comes through my CV1 headphones no problem as if the game is running just not displaying. When I move my head I can hear sounds as if I am highlighting options on screen (Fallout 4)
The Desktop viewer works but as soon as I try to load a game through that the CV1 goes blank.
VR Games in Steam run no problem with Untrusted Sources enabled.

jlabsParticipantNo look inversion for me. I did have a successful startup of desktop viewer, though I can’t say why. From there I was able to successfully start Fallout 4. It is giving me the error again now. I wish I knew why it worked that one time!

RalfKeymasterYou get the very same time warp effect in every menu that is fixed to the screen with low frame rates. That is perfectly normal. Improve your frame rate and it will be gone. It’s also always a good idea to use EdgePeek in any menu as this is way more comfortable. I wouldn’t even recommend running Fallout 4 on ultra settings with a GTX980Ti BTW.
I’m not quite sure what you mean by double head tracking to be honest. If the game view turns too fast, please re-adjust the head tracking sensitivity on the head tracking page of the vorpX ingame menu.

grodenglaiveParticipantYes Ive applied the game optimizer and its still the same. Pip boy mode head tracking is reversed, normal view head tracking is doubled.
A thought has just occurred to me ..I remember when I originally set up fallout 4 with vorpx the head tracking in the up and down axis was 50% what it needed to be and I changed some settings in the .ini file iirc. Could this be causing this?
silly me I forgot to do that (and I’ve been using vorpx since DK1 days).
OK FOV fixed, but something is still messed up with the headtracking. It’s hard to describe, but when I look right or left I the screen peels away from my view and I see off the edge of the screen; almost like it’s in cinema mode.Apr 10, 2016 at 2:13pm #100560
Tony SpanielsParticipantThat’s also taken care of by the optimizer. Sounds like for some reason the settings aren’t applied correctly for whatever reason.
I would highly recomment to use EdgePeek (click mousewheel) mode for the PipBoy BTW. This also solves a glitches with using the PipBoy with the mouse.
The according values in the Fallout4.ini should look like below after applying the Optimizer.
fMouseHeadingXScale=.021
fMouseHeadingYScale=.042Yep,just checked and that’s what the settings are at.

Apr 10, 2016 at 1:57pm #100553In reply to: Errors when starting 16.1.1 with DK2
grodenglaiveParticipantI am using the most recent Oculus runtime, along with a DK2. When I attempt to start either vorpX or the desktop viewer, I receive the message:
“Sorry, we’re having trouble loading vorpControl.exe. Please take off your headset and check your computer for error messages.”
There are no error messages displayed outside of the headset, though.
I was able to get one game to direct to the DK2, but the visible are of the game was small and the look directions were inverted (looking up moved the visible area down, looking left moved it right).
Same for me with Fallout 4. The Oculus error doesn’t prevent the game from launching though.

Tony SpanielsParticipant…
Now I can get GTA5 to launch on home 1.3, but my look in full vr mode is inverted. It felt like I was emulating xbox stick with my head (inverted and less responsive). I tried to override xbox fully in vorpx menu, but my settings never save through the next restart. Settings restored to default when I start back in.
I also noticed a severe performance hit to my frame rate compared to how i was playing last night using vorpx 0.9 and oculus 0.7.
…
Im getting this inverted head tracking as well in Fallout 4, but oddly its only in the pip boy menu screen. In normal view its not inverted but instead the sensitivity is doubled so if I move my head it tracks it twice as far.
Im getting a performance hit as well but I thought that might be just cos G3D is especially demanding in F4.

Tony SpanielsParticipantAnyone else getting odd head tracking in Fallout 4 using G3D? The head roll and rotations arent working at all for me.
Apr 6, 2016 at 4:59pm #99349In reply to: Non-Oculus Rift HMDs request
bfentyParticipantI haven’t purchased VorpX yet, but if it just supported Opentrack I would buy it in a heartbeat. It looks like it has great support, but I don’t have an Oculus. I’m using Vireio Perception right now because it DOES support Opentrack data, but it doesn’t support DX11 and I would really like to play Fallout 4 in VR.
(I should note: I don’t need streaming or anything else, besides displaying the game in SBS 3D on my screen, and accepting Opentrack input. Everything else is handled by Gagagu for iPhone, which is essentially the same thing as Trinius for Android)
