I can confirm I had GTA V issues too like 2-3 days ago where it didn’t seem to work. Unfortunately, I was playing around with a lot of vorpx stuff that day, and I can’t remember exactly what the issue was before giving up. If there’s any kind soul out there with GTA V already installed and can confirm it’s currently working or not would be greatly appreciated.
Completely unrelated…finally getting to Wolf Among Us in vorpx — AWESOME! Interestingly, Steam version hooks but couldn’t get GOG version to hook. No biggie, but thought I throw that info out there.
The game came out originally on PS2 and Gamecube. If you can get it running on either the Dolphin or PCSX2 Emulator, you can use G3D in VorpX. You may even be able to play it with DolpinVR (not likely). I also see that it’s available on Steam. Since the game was originally made with RenderWare on PS2, maybe you can use the GTA San Andreas profile or another profile with the Steam version.
To play with the Quest2, you need a Link cable (any USB C) and Oculus Home software, and/or SteamVR (compatible with Virtual Desktop for streaming).
Hi! Thank you for your post. I’m using Oculus Quest 2 with Link Cable and Steam VR, but there is no VR for killer7.
So, yeah, i need to use VorpX. Do you think that if i’ll buy this software everything will works in the right way? What about the controls? I tried to change it but it looks impossible to play Quest 2 with killer7. Is that my fault?
If it’s not hooking via Steam, then you can try the Dolphin emulator, but you have to import the Dolphin Emulator Profile from the cloud if it’s not local now. It’s G3D on Cinema Mode though (Didn’t try Immersive). Dolphin has to be set to SBS in the graphics setting. I used the XBOne controller, but you can use the Quest controllers as a standard controller.
If you export the official GTA V profile, only the user part is exported, then you can do your experiments and later easily reimport the exported settings to go back to the prior state. You can also switch between multiple sets of settings for one profile this way.
?????
what? and how do I experiment if I cannot use any different profile besides the original that I cannot change at all?
I didn’t understood at all.
Can you please explain me or someone how do I make Remnant:from the ashes to use the G3D profile back again?
I was playing this game with beautiful G3D then after an update I can see the official VorpX profile but this “new and official profile” killed G3D and now it is only z-normal or z-adaptive, in the meantime I can still see a Remnant G3D profile available in the cloud since previous versions…
HOW DO I USE it again in G3D ?? I cannot assign the exe file, the exe file is assigned to the official new VorpX profile…it cannot be removed and therefore is not allowing me to play in G3D as I was playing before.
I’m starting to wonder whether maybe the Reverb G2 behaves somewhat different than other WMR headsets. Guess I have to get one sooner or later. With your rig you should be able play GTA V with G3D. Probably not at the native 4K res of your headset, but something like 1440p at medium graphics details should work fine normally.
Same suggestion that I made in another thread: if you are already on one of the latest Windows 10 versions (20/04 or 20H2) it’s worth a shot to check whether maybe enabling hardware accelerated GPU scheduling in the Windows display options makes a difference for you.
Also in the vorpX menu trying all three ‘Headset Sync’ options (Fast, Safe, Alternative Fast) is always worth a try.
It’s unplayable on a screen, looks amazing in 3D. I really hope one day its playable in full immersive VR, yes alot of the setting would have to be lowered. GTAV has an amazing VR mod as does Alien Isolation, the developer of those mods had to edit the settings and even remove some of the effects seen on a flat screen but they both look amazing. Officially I know Cyber Punk will never get a supported VR mode so here’s hoping Vorpx and other modders keep working on it.
After getting a few more hours to play (I’m in Act II now) I have to say that with some fine tuning, Cyberpunk 2077 is incredible in Vorpx, assuming you have the hardware to crank everything up to the max. I think they wanted to do the game in VR but found that it was just not possible for most people given the fact that you need some pretty amazing hardware.
I really couldn’t imagine playing it any other way… I’ve noticed some bugs, and the game occasionally crashes but it’s 100% worth it. Maybe the best game since Halo CE or GTA V imho.. This is how the game was meant to be played it seems.
Here are some things I did, that may or may not suit your taste:
– significantly zoomed out the image so that I can see all of the hud, did some fine tuning on the zooming/edge peek mode so that you could really just play it in edge peek mode at times
– cranked the 3D in edge peek mode up
– changed the background to black, really helped make the game much more immersive, when in VR view it just looks like limits to my FOV rather than a floating screen
– cranked up the saturation and dialed in a few other settings like that
Kind of amazing the developers didn’t just put a mode like this in the game it’s ridiculous how much better it is than playing it on a monitor, even if this is sort of a sit-down “hyrbid VR” solution. Ralf has single handedly fixed Cyberpunk 2077 and if we ever get a full 3D mode that’s just icing on the cake.
Anyway, hardware specs if you’re curious:
Oculus Quest 2 (HP G2 finally shipped and I hear it’ll be even better)
5900x
3090FE
32GB 3600 RAM
2TB Samsung Pro PCIE 4.0 SSD
Water-cooled CPU + 9 fans
So pretty heavy duty computer, but if you can do it, it’s absolutely amazing. I wouldn’t recommend it any other way.
Tried all kinds of emulation, gamepad head tracking, gamepad as kb/mouse (kinda works but dont get analog input for driving which is main point of using it) etc. Specifically for gta 4 and especially combined with 1st person mod with all its hacky impementation mouse head tracking is only way to go but interfiles with gamepad input for camera making gamepad camera turn very choppy if my head is moving, like when I want to turn it.
Anyway whats more disappointing was discovering there is no quick button for toggling head tracking, switching it off in HT tab switches head tracking in immersive screen as well.
What I wanted was basically 1 button solution to toggle head tracking multiplier to 0 and back to whatever you have set before instead of holding left and right arrow for a while.
In several games, but latest one in gta 4 there is gamepad support and keyboard/mouse. The main problem comes from game not supporting smooth input from both. Like you cant look around with mouse head tracking and movie with gamepad sticks, it will either disable one input or make it very choppy while it tries to switch in between them.
For example in gta 4 my gamepad has a bit of drift on left stick and I was very confused why on keyboard everything worked but move forward on W – gamepad was inputting move forward, not enough to move in game character but enough to disable keyboard forward key as it had same function.
I know vorpx has gamepad emulated head tracking, but it has its own issues and when I try keyboard/mouse for shooting on foot it gets in the way again.
Ideally I want mouse emulated head tracking while driving as it works very well looking around and driving is better with gamepad, but I want 1 button solution, ideally on gamepad stick to toggle head tracking on/off.
Gta 4 is just latest example, having quick hotkey/gamepad function to toggle head tracking when needed could be very useful in a lot of games as there are moment when it can be immersive, but in combat and stuff it can get in a way.
I remember reading in Reddit, in the topic of the GTA VR mod, that you had the code of an alternate eye rendering mode that were present in old versions of VorpX.
Could be possible to implement it in VorpX again? It works very good, and with HMDs like the Valve Index with high refresh rate people report very good results with GTA on that mode. Although it has its flaws, like sickness when steering in a vehicle and some more rendering issues, that can be warned, as that rendering works as good as a native VR mode. At least for me, GTA VR gives lots of presence. And of course, a nice framerate.
Just got into VR and installed vorpx, what a blessing!
using a quest.
I enjoy PORTAL 2 very much.
Just dont understand why they didnt release it vr, it works great.
Also RDR2 an GTAV are amazing!
Wonder what mods you actualy need for gtav? I played a bit just with native settings, all was very pleasant:).
not that into darksouls. but still, your explanation of “because you will be slashing at one dude and turn your head to hit his buddy and your sword slash WILL follow your ‘face’… so you aim with your head.. its kinda glorious and fun if youre a Dark Souls Fan.”
makes me curious.
@Ralf
Sorry to bother you but I am having a problem with GTA 5 not looking clear in my HMD (Index).
For the past few days, I’ve been trying to change the resolution of the game but no matter what I try the image in the HMD is always on the low side. I have a 2080 ti and 6700k oc so my system should be able to handle it.
Some of the things I tried include:
-adding custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel
-running gta without vorpx, changing the res, save, quit, restart (without vorpx active), checking the main menu of “graphics” is showing the correct res. Launch the game with vorpx (without vorpx game changes active) and checking to make sure the res is correct–it is.
-making a launch option in the gta steam option with the specific resolution (-w 3200 -h 2400)
-changing my desktop resolution to the same one as in gta 5 (3200 x 2400 on a 1080p tv) before launching the game–this did work in the past.
-obviously, letting vorpx setting of “change game resolution” to “”on” and letting it do everything.
-looking at the settings xml gta file to see if the resolution should be 3200 x 2400
-other things as well.
This is a fresh install of gta. Any support or suggestion would be great. Thanks.
It wouldnt be possible without software like vorpx.I have been playing gta5 in vr over five years now thanks to Ralf and vorpx. The wwww.grandtheftvr.com mod used with vorpx makes motion control possible.
In games that do not have anti-cheat services, I have never been banned using vorpX. Games I play online:
Battlefield/SW Battlefront series
Call of Duty series (except for the new Modern Warfare won’t hook)
Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm 1 (Rising Storm 2 won’t work)
War of Rights
Battlegrounds 3
Blackwake
America’s Army: Proving Grounds
Chivalry/Mordhau
Outlaws of the Old West
Verdun/Tannenberg
Golden-Eye Source
Medal of Honor 2010
Star Trek Online
Unfortunately, if the game uses an anti-cheat service such as Easy Anti Cheat or BattlEye that block injection, then vorpX won’t even be able to hook into the game to begin with. So games like Rainbow 6 Siege (BattlEye) and most newer and mainstream games are not possible, as Anti-Cheat services have become demanded and common place. Scroll down on this page to see games with EAC for example.
This is sad of course, as there are lots of good looking games I would wish to play online and am missing out on, since I can no longer stand to play games on flat monitor anymore.
GTA online and RDR2 online are a grey area. I have never personally risked trying these yet, but I assume other people have and I have yet to hear any complaints. It is probably good practice however to assume that using vorpX for online gaming will always carry the risk of ban, so consider the possibility before each game you try.
That’s not correct, you refuse to listen, this has nothing to do with a thread being completely used up by the effect, 3D Vision actually limits the number of cores available to three.
I’ve been around 3D Vision since 2013, been into PC gaming since 2010, here’s my computer:
I’m not a noob, I know what I’m talking about, your need to come down from your technical high horse. You have this “I know what I’m talking about and youre spouting rubbish” position and refuse to listen.
3D Vision limits the number of physical cores available to three. The “3 Core Bug” problem is real and well known.
When using 3D Vision games only use up to 3 cores. I tried it myself with GTA 5 scaling up the number of core affinity to GTA 5. Once you’ve got to three that’s your lot, leaving GTA running between 35-45 FPS, using only about 40% GPU on my 2 gtx 980s in SLI.
I then disabled the 3d Vision driver and of course the FPS shot up to over 120fps and I get gpu usage of close to 100%. Disabled cores and discovered that with 3 cores enabled I get exactly the same performance as with 3d Vision enabled (without 3d of course) the same low gpu usage and low fps. Adding back the cores increases usage add brings it back to over 120fps.
Of course this doesn’t matter for alot of old games, but I think we are going to find this a big problem in the future. Something that hardware upgrades can’t even help with!
Anyone noticed this in any other games? Ragedemon says that it happens in AC4 Black Flag and CoD: Advanced Warfare too.
Anyone found a workaround?
Is it too optimistic to hope could be fixed in future drivers?”
