Thanks for the info, Luka. I hate having to chose, but as it seems i have to either use the original games with the worse graphics with VorpX, or i need to use something else to be able to play the enhanced versions of Metro.

@Luka – Because i have planned a replay of the Metro trilogy, i want to ask you:

    1) Do you have proper Ambient Occlusion and dynamic shadows in G3D in Metro?

    2) What versions of Metro are we talking about here? All 3 games or just the first one? Enhanced or original edition?

The games that work in dx12 dont have g3d but only z3d and z adaptive. The games that work with dx11 dx10 dx9 maybe that have g3d. But not all.
I tell you a tipo. You can try use reshade and vorpxdesktop viewer for game that work in dx12.
I play all game in z3d because have too better performance and g3d sometime gibe you only stereoscophy and more glithc. But some game same metro exodus work graet in g3d .

Right, worked for me using 23.1.5. Not with the free Cyberpunk mod version.

Hi robernd, Im currently using the standalone free mod for Cyberpunk 2077 although I do own VorpX too. When you use 23.1.5, does the Metro work in full VR too (the view glitches to one eye for me)? Thx

Hi Ralf, CD Projekt Red has announced another update for Cyberpunk which should arrive very soon. If/when you update the mod, I would like to request/hope you can have fixes for the following: floating markers, Metro (where VR stops working when you board the metro) and enabling motion controllers for VorpX Settings Menu (currently can only use keyboard to change settings)

    Thanks!

AS well as the “Metro still has the one eye thing… ” as pointed out by Silicon McCain, the other thing to follow-up on later would be the markers which are anchored to the player POV instead of being fixed to the object it should be attached to eg yellow/red markers for enemy NPC’s

Thankfully not game-breaking though. The recent update makes the game playable in VR

    Merry Christmas!

Nice one, Ralf. Back in business. :)
Well, almost… Metro still has the one eye thing…

It isn’t game-breaking like the vehicles, though. One for next year!

Thanks for all your work with this project.
Have a great Christmas and Hogmanay.

Just tried Metro Last Light Redux (2 euro on Steam this week). It’s impressive. G3D seems perfect so far (First Level). I think the game is far less optimized than Metro Exodus, because it ask a lot to my RTX 4090 (even the best card possible is not enough to get the perfect resolution and framerate on Reverb G2). But it’s enough to be really good.
I played in 2880×2160 ultra (I think I can still raise it a little bit more). I tried 3200*2400, it was visually perfect, but framerate was a bit low ‘^^

The newtests game work with dx12 that no have a g3d with vorpx. But dx9 dx10 and dx11 work with great 3d. Metro exodus titanfall 2 are the beat exemple

The above problems are basically the same thing – after entering any vehicle – car, motor, metro, basilisk – the picture for one eye freezes or turns to grey and the other one works ok. I hope it is possible to fix.

I updated CyberEngineTweaks and generally it works with 2.1 version, but there are 2 new bugs:
    1) When I get into the car, the image freezes.
    2) When I get into new metro, the left eye gets only grey picture, so I see only through right eye and 2D.

    Can anyone confirm this problems?

You can play Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition with VorpX (I did it on Gold Edition).

But you’ll have to play without DX12 and raytracing (Metro Exodus allow you to disable DX12 in game, so you can do it before relaunching it with VorpX) or if you want to play with DX12 and Raytracing, you can play without G3D by renaming the executable.

I would really like to make Z3D work, but I didn’t found a profile yet…

I think parts of the game would be better in G3D, and others with raytracing Z3D.

I can confirm Metro Exodus Gold (Enhanced) Edition works very well (on Beta).

    You have two options :
Set the game on DX11 in graphics options before launching it with VorpX. You’ll have Geometry 3D and it’s really good (I had yo play with resolution anyway, and I prefer to disable Direct VR and set things myself). This way you can have 4:3 resolution with virtual monitor. It’s more blurry than the second option, and it ask more GPU. You can dezoom to have sharper image (it affects the way you see your weapon). It’s important to set your main eye to aim with G3D. You could have to play with FOV and I had to change headset rotation sensitivity.
I get around 30 FPS at the Volga on RTX 4090. It’s smooth and pefectly playable.

Another option, if you want Raytracing and perfect quality image (impossible with the blurry Quest 3 compression sorry), is to set DX12 and RTX in game, launch Metro Exodus with a renamed executable (you have to attach it to enhanced metro exodus unofficial profile or to nothing I guess). Dezoom and set FX to full and adjust sharpness and gamma. You’ll have to set FOV with ini files and high resolution. It’s really impressive, but there is no 3D this way for me. I don’t know which one I prefer.
I get 75-80 FPS at the Volga on RTX 4090.
It’s perfect on Reverb, but still meh on Quest 3, even when tweaking bitrate to 500 and resolution to x1.5 (besides, Quest 3 ask a lot more GPU to have a less good result, with bad colors and details).

Note sure at all we can have perfect G3D full resolution with raytracing on current graphic cards.

There are easier games to try for your first try anyway, especially if you don’t have a really good PC.

I managed to use official cable to play Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition DX12 (with Raytracing ultra, no DLSS and around 2300p 16:9 resolution) on quest 3.

I retried the same thing with the Reverb G2 too.

There is no comparison : Quest 3 image is awful compared to Reverb G2 (despite the fact G2 has lower resolution and need less GPU power). The game looks awesome on Reverb !

I think in theory, Quest 3 screen is probably better, but only to display GUI or other procedural things.

To display actual gameplay, it’s blurry and inaccurate (I suppose because of the cable bandwidth). Don’t know if it can be upgraded by another cable. I suppose USB-C can’t reach the Display Port + USB-C + power supply of the G2 cable (it demonstrate why the big, fragile and expansive cable of the G2 is necessary).

It seems battery could also be an issue to play during long sessions (cable power supply isn’t enough too).

Anyway, Quest 3 strap is bad (even the elite one). I would like to try the BoboVR one (i use a tweaked M2 BoboVR strap on my Reverb and it’s great).
