Please read the Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help. Among other important information there you find all possible ways that vorpX offers to deal with the field of view (“zoomed in”).
For Portal 2 that is particularly easy as all you have to do is to apply the Game Optimizer tweaks for Portal 2 (vorpX config app).
I have a DK1. I was using Tridef for a while. Now I’m here.
I had some initial issues getting portal 2 and left for dead 2 to not crash on launching those games. I seemed to be past that now as I have set the native resolution in the games to 1440 x 900.
I am able to play but the scale seems off zoom factor seems to way to high.
Lets assume I’m using default settings (the one you get to pressing delete) in the game setup. Be it known Ive tried to zoom out using the zoom setting. This works to improve the way things look but then the box edges that appear to the sides of the FOV.
Should would like an easy list of settings to setup portal 2 where the scale and zoom look good.
Struggling to resolve a Y-axis problem. Hope you can help.
With the DK2 and VorpX I like have the game-world view go UP when I pitch my head BACK (like any sane person).
I play with an XBox360 controller, normally with y-axis inverted in the in-game settings so that the game-world view goes UP when the right stick is pulled DOWN (like any sane person).
Many games allow both inputs to behave together perfectly (Portal2, for instance), but for some titles (GTA5, Fallout4) I can either have :
(1) 360 right-stick DOWN -> view UP
Head-pitch BACK -> view DOWN
(2) 360 right-stick DOWN -> view DOWN
Head-pitch BACK -> view UP
But I can’t get right-stick DOWN and head-pitch BACK to both map to game-world view UP.
I’ve tried combinations with the VorpX settings (overriding Xbox controller, HT as gamepad, inverting HT y-axis, etc) and in-game y-axis invert settings, but no joy.
Am I missing an obvious solution?
Thanks for all the work, Ralf!
Everything works really well but I cannot get the game to mirror on my monitor. Not a big deal but it would be a nice feature. I’m using vorpx 0.9.0
Well there’s $40 wasted. Can’t run a single game with this. I read the instructions for Dk2 setup. I read the trouble shooting blog post, I spent 5 hours troubleshooting….and I flossed and exercised everyday.
I suspect there’s a group of Eastern Europeans laughing at us stupid Americans for buying something over the internet that everyone knows cant actually work.
Enjoy the money guys. I’ll make sure to mention Voprx is a worthless product everywhere I can.
After wasting hours and hours on this product, I’m at the breaking point.
I’ve read all the dam guides 3x over and even “supported” games like Portal will not run for me.
I managed to get a regular non-supported 2d game to run on the virtual screen, but the jutter is so bad it’s gonna make throw up.

I have tried uninstalling vorpx and deleted all registry entries, reinstalled it and re registered it and I still cannot get anything working with it. I go into Portal 2 (on my monitor without dk2) and set video to 1920 x 1080 and save it, I then quit game restart it on my monitor and check the settings are the same, which they always are. I then run vorpx, run portal 2 and the screen goes black, then it returns to desktop with Portal 2 music running and if I click the icon for portal 2 on the task bar, the screen flashes black then drops back to desktop.. I turn off dk2 and vorpx, go back into game on my monitor and the video settings have been changed to some weird 476 x 1490 setting… change settings back, repeat the above and get the same outcome. I find it really frustrating that I can only launch the vorpx config whilst the dk2 is switched on, trying to view desktop icons and windows in vr sucks… the Oculus display mode software runs without the need for the dk2 and I think this would be a great help. If I cannot get the games to launch how does an in-game vorpx menu help ? Getting really frustrated with this now, I bought Vorpx months ago and have had zero success with it, I put in 3-4 hours every now and then trying to get a game working but it is an endless roundabout of failure. I can run demo’s for DK2 in direct or extended mode, I can run games with DK2 support like Live for Speed or Project cars instantly, but Vorpx fails me every time I try to use it. Perhaps it’s a win8 64 thing ? I just cannot get it to work .
This thread is almost a year old, hence the sticky you mention doesn’t exist anymore. It only referred to the display orientation setting and is now included in the DK2 Setup Guide in the vorpX help.
If you don’t get 3D in GTA V after starting the game, please ALT TAB to the desktop and back, which should resolve the glitch. Be aware that the game is Z-Buffer 3D only, which generally means “less 3D” for forground objects, but twice the framerate.
Portal 2 has Geometry 3D and Z-Buffer 3D, for the best Stereo 3D effect make sure that Geometry 3D is enabled (should be per default).
If you want “more 3D”, you can raise the “3D-Strength/Separation” parameter on the main page of the ingame menu. The default of 1.0 is close to what you get in reality though. So, more is not better in this regard.
Hi I have problems with Vorpx, I only ever get a split screen effect where the same screen is shown twice on the dk2, I have tried a lot of settings and can not get it to work with any game (Portal 2, GTA V etc)
I run win 8.1 64 and I can get all the direct to rift stuff working and the occasional thing like LiveViewRift video viewer, but I cannot get games to work with vorpx…
I have read several forum posts where the following is stated:
If you use Windows 8, please also check the Win8 sticky above, unfortunately some Win8 related information did not make into the setup guide.
For the life of me I can not find this “sticky”
Could you post an actual link to this post so I can try the recommended settings please.
Thanks in advance
Bob
expert settings is checked. I now have the option in the menu.
It does nothing when “on”
Still no positional tracking with any game using vorpx. Tracking is working fine in native oculus games.
Also, not asking about mouse adjustment, I’m asking which of the settings to have on or off in portal, they seem to have different effects on vorpx. – no helpful info in “essential game hints” as this is specific to Portal 2
Surprisingly hard to find a definitive answer via google.
Does Vorpx support the DK2’s positional tracking?
So far have tried Portal, Portal 2, Stanley Parable… and I have no positional tracking.
Rotational tracking works fine (turning my head) but positional is not working (leaning to sides, forward etc).
Is it even a feature of Vorpx? Vireio has it, but vireio also has a distorted image so I would rather use Vorpx.
Sorry, just realised how badly I described the problem.
The head tracking works perfectly with Bioshock infinite.
Behaves exactly as the mouse look does.
Portal 2 problem: –
Look up = works fine
Look down = works fine
Look right = works fine
Look left = the whole screen moves/drags left. It does not look left but moves the sceen left.
Look left does not work in tracking but pulls the whole screen left.
Portal 2: Do you use a non-default Steam setup (for example Portal 2 not installed in the Steam directory)? For Portal 2 the optimizer may rely on the game being in the default location (not 100% sure currently). So it may fail when you use a custom directory.
If applying the optimizer settings fails for a game, you can usually apply the most important setting (FOV) manually. Googling FOV + game name in many cases brings up easy to follow tutorials.
Just in case: Steam or not, for many games the optimizer can only work correctly for legit game versions.
Getting weird tracking problems ems in portal 2
Lok up down right works fine…
But look left turns left as well?
Is there a way around this issue?
Thx
