I’ll add aptly named SBS 3D base profiles for the next update (at least if I don’t forget it again…). Currently you can use the MPC-HC (DX9), VLC (DX11) and Shadow of the Tomb Raider (also DX11) profiles as a base. Unfortunately no DX12 SBS profile currently, but that’s not a technical problem, there just happens to be none ATM.

Important caveat: whether or not that works together with another 3D-injector is hit and miss though.

BTW: The other Z3D method doesn’t work better, it just let’s you crank up the 3D so high that it converts half the image into one giant Z3D-typical glitch in the end. ;)

That’s definitely not right. First thing you might want to check is whether the issue also occurs in ‘Generic 3D-Display’ mode, wihich shows a SBS-3D image on your desktop. That way you could determine whether the issue is related to the actual game rendering (also occurs in ‘Generic’ mode) or to the headset rendering (doesn’t occur in ‘Generic’ mode).

In the first case primarily check whether you maybe have some tool installed that also hooks into games and by doing so could potentially cause a conflict with vorpX. The trouble shooting guide above (or in the vorpX help) has more details on that. That includes any FPS counter tools. Use the vorpX FPS counter instead (ALT+F).

In the second case also do the above, but in addition check whether maybe another headset type selection in the vorpX config app helps. Oculus headsets work with all three types, WMR headsets work with both OpenXR and SteamVR, native SteamVR headsets (e.g. Index, Vive, Pimax) also work with SteamVR and OpenXR, the latter with the unfortunate caveat that Valve seems to think noone needs 32-bit OpenXR anymore. At least they constantly ignore according requests since ~1.5 years now.

Hello, it’s been about a year and I wanted to ask if there had been any further discussion about accessing the 3D SBS output at full horizontal resolution, instead of half resolution. I know this is an unofficial feature, but it would be great to get it enabled.

My original question is here: https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/question-for-other-generic-3d-users/

    I appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks, mark

I have not tried all of them, So far I have tried cyberpunk, f1 2021. I ended up using reshade to download the superdepth 3d and am using bigscreen with sbs. I still need to tinker but i wish i could get VorpX to hook, so much easier and better when it works.

Did this ever make it in?

Ralf is constantly providing us with new gifts and features over and over FOR FREE.

How about we make him a little present in return by powereing up the inofficial gamelist up to 1000 ? Lets make a 1000 happen in 2021 !

The list is beeing visited daily by hundrets of people, how nice would VorpX “inofficially supports more then 1000 games” sound like spread across reddit, steam and all the other places? BTW: I am pretty much shure that we could hit the 1000 within days, the list already counts 949 and the cloud is packed with new profiles from unknown authors.

Its so easy, just submit an SBS Screenshot of the game that you have fixed to the list (right top corner, “Make submission”) http://rjkole.com/gamestuff/engines/
Little sidenote: Each new entry also makes the engine checker better, dont forget !

Litte Backgound why i cant perform all that on my own:
I am very well aware that there a way more profiles in the cloud then on the inofficial list and i kept beeing asked why i wouldnt add them. The answer is easy, 1- i own thousands of games , but its impossible for me to own every game. 2- I am busy enough with my own profile requests and i simply dont have the time to manually verify hundrets of profiles just to see if one is 3D or not (too many are NOT!). 3- We want a clean list, so adding games without proof wouldnt make sense. Too many profiles are not even 3D.

The easiest way is simply to take a SBS Screenshot and submit it to the list.
Here is a little how to: (easiest and fastest way)
1- Switch VorpX over to “Generic Display”, start game and Press “Print”
    2- Click Windows->Start, enter: Mspaint
3- When Mspaint is open press STRG+V
4- Save SBS Image as .jpg
    5- Submit picture

Please remember: Its not only me benefitting from the List, its mainly YOU benefitting from it!

You already can view SBS images with several supported apps. MPC-HC or VLC for example. Other non VorpX apps i know of: Whirligigg Free, DeoVR, GiszmoVR. 3D Vision had a nice browser plugin one called silverlight which sadly doesnt work anymore. I am not much up to date but perhaps there are easier to handle viewers where i can make an SBS profile for. Stereo Photo Maker (Free) also works with VorpX. http://rjkole.com/gamestuff/VR_game_d.php?VR_game=83&sel=name

Really interesting, I’d subscribe to that kind of notifications for sure.

A bit of useless brainstorming, but I’d love a VR SBS image viewer for Vorpx, i see that a ton of your profiles have SBS images, it would be great to have an image viewer that showed those in VR. The biggest issue to show people how good Vorpx looks is that people simply can’t actually see how cool vanilla games look in 3d and VR.

If that kind of app could be uploaded to sidequestvr.com so that anyone could see Vorpx in action at least in screenshots, I bet a lot more people would be interested in Vorpx.

I guess vorpX 21.4.0 will be released in December with various official profiles. That Ralf don’t give us a heads up here, is a hint that we can’t hope for an earlier release of a Far Cry 6 profile than December. Vorpx usually doesn’t support every game from day one.

In that cases, i always use the Vorpx Desktop Viewer or Reshade’s Depth3D Companion App from day one until we will get a vorpX profile.

(Please use in the Companion App the Full-SBS option in the SuperDepth3D_VR+ settinngs = Super3D_Mode=1)

like Z3D ! Install reshade and select the depth3D shader, config depth3d in the reshade ingame menu to give a SBS output, capture the SBS Output with SBS Input of the Vorpx Desktop Viewer !

Anyway I can take 3D SBS screenshots? It would be nice if Vorpx had a native screenshot feature. I can take screenshots using the “generic 3D display” mode, the game runs on SBS on the TV, so I can take the screenshots and use Virtual Desktop on Quest with SBS. But I would like to use the native Vorpx virtual room with steam VR. BTW, I wonder if the performance is worse on Steam VR compared to the generic display SBS coz Steam VR will probably use more resources of the PC to run the game, and also Vorpx virtual room might use some resources too. So if I run the game on generic 3D display via Virtual Desktop server which is very light and does not use Steam VR or consume PC resources to run the virtual room, instead it runs the virtual room directly on Quest, using the Quest CPU instead of the PC. Does it means the performance is better via Virtual Desktop / generic display?

There are a handful of supported DX12 games. Some that I know of: RDR2, Cyberpunk, Deus EX MD. But they’re either flat or Z3D.

For games that support mods there is a workaround to get G3D by using AFR (alternate frame rendering) where the mod changes camera position on each frame to match each eye. But since the game does not stop between frames each eye will see a slightly different scene (unless the mod can also hack timing). Still it’s a lot of work for each game. RDR2 is probably the only DX12 title with such a mod.

Other than that it might be possible if the game itself has built-in SBS support. However there is no SBS profile for DX12 that I know of.

So there is quite a lot of effort going into DX12. However my understanding is that G3D is not possible (at least not in the same way as for DX9/10/11). But you can hook into DX12 games and at the very least you get a flat screen in VR. For some you’ll also get Z3D or AFR (and maybe SBS in the future).

the vorpx desktop viewer has the Full-VR mode, but it’s not the same as the Full-vr mode used in the games with vorpx profiles with Z3D or G3D. Without 3D it is not the full vorpx experience. You can use reshade’s 3D-Driver with SBS output and capture it with the SBS input mode of the vorpx desktop viewer.

Don’t really have anything specific to recommend in that respect, sorry. Never tried it, so I have no clue what might work best.

On a sidenote: for games with native SBS 3D support you are best off creating a new profile based on one that handles SBS input (e.g. Rise of the Tomb Raider for DX11). For a bunch of reasons directly hooking into a game is always better than using desktop capture later.

To make that easier I’ll add a profile template for games with native SBS 3D in the next vorpX update.

    Hey Ralf…
I just got hold of a 1080TI (been on a Radeon for ages) and wanted to try out some of the Helix mods for 3DVision.
I was wondering if you can setup 3dfix manager to run the games in SBS and then use Vorpx Desktop viewer to output it to the HMD, or whether you’d recommend just using Helixvision for that kind of thing.

I know I can probably just trial and error, but I figured I’d save a bit of time going by a recommendation of what will work best.
