Hi Ralf!
Cheers for getting back to me so quickly.
The fact the game just works for everyone is what concerns me..
It’s nice to know that I don’t need to bother with the -dx9 aspect.. I did say I was a n00b..
I’ll go over the sticky again tomorrow when I’m back at my desk with the rift.
I’ll let you know how I get on :-)
Awesome software btw.. VorpX is what convinced me to get the rift!
A real shadow fix would require that it works with the default (deferred) shadows. Everything that requires changing the shadow mode in multiple .ini files – although certainly OK for enthusiasts – is not enough for a large part of the userbase unfortunately.
The nightsky issue is fixed already since mid November. Given the popularity of Skyrim minor game specific fixes aren’t low priority, but they also aren’t a top priortity, so I do not have a specific timeframe for something like that unfortunately.
“You can (and always could) use vorpX’s integrated FOV control instead of the Skyrim console to change the player mesh FOV alongside with the game FOV.”
Well that’s news to me and something you neglected to mention previously :) – thank you for explaining.
No amount of Skyrim.ini tweaking would fix the shadow issue, ditto for the water / skybox issues. Are such issues something you are prioritizing and working to resolve or should we expect to see these problems for sometime to come?
Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated.
You can (and always could) use vorpX’s integrated FOV control instead of the Skyrim console to change the player mesh FOV alongside with the game FOV. Shadows will be dealt with when we find a way to do this without requiring users to fiddle with .ini settings.
Hope this helps.
Hey Ralf,
Any news on fixing the giant player mesh, water and lack of shadows in Skyrim (in real 3D mode of course)? It’s been a while since I asked about it and other drivers have recently made real progress in this area. Again demonstrating that 3D bugs such as these are indeed fixable and should not simply be ignored or features disabled as a quick fix.
All the best,
Cy
I can’t get VorpX to run on any games yet it is running on my taskbar, I can’t get the shortcut setting running either.

Right click on the icon in your taskbar tray and click create desktop shortcut, from there find the .exe that your games uses and save. Now just click the icon on the desktop and you’re off!
There currently is a bug that causes this for some games. It’s already fixed in the dev version, the fix will be available with the next update.
Until then you might be able to circumvent the issue by starting the game through a vorpX shortcut: right click the vorpX tray icon, choose “Create Desktop Shortcut”, then browse to the game’s .exe. This will create a special shortcut on your desktop.
If this doesn’t work for L4D2, you’ll have to wait for the next update. Sorry for that.
Hi Ralf/everyone.
I recently got left 4 dead 2 on the steam sale, but Vorpx does not seem to work with it. When I start Left 4 dead 2, it starts normally without vorpx turning the screen stereo. When I exit the game I then notice vorpx is no longer running. I’ve double and tripple checked this. Turn on Vorpx via Vorpx Control shortcut, verify its running in task manager and in the side tray, run left 4 dead 2, exit left 4 dead 2, and vorpx is no longer running.
The other two games I have recently ran with Vorpx is BF4 and Dirt 3, no isses with either of them. Vorpx is still running when I exit either of them.
Any ideas? My setup is:
– Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit).
– 16 Gig Ram
– intel i7-4770 3.40GHz
– Asus GTX 770 Nvidia GeForce DirectCU II OC 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
Failed to initialize renderer
unknown error creating the renderer.
tried everything i can find
DX11, Win7 x64, game from Steam: no stereo
there’s a pic https://www.dropbox.com/sc/f8y222vncbf5kyu/95lvO-IZuT
(when i press prt scr it makes a screenshot of desktop but not game)
I’ve tried different settings – useless
in DX9 mode stereo is working, but with strange lines, invisible cursor and vorpX hotkeys doesn’t work

Hi zergtdg,
The game is not officially supported yet, so I can’t tell for sure what’s going on there. It looks like a nice fit for the Rift though, so I will look into it.
In case you started the game through a vorpX desktop shortcut, please try to disable the watcher (right click the tray icon > Disable Watcher)
Hi TimeDeath,
Just be sure (this question most likely sounds silly to you, but someone already forgot that): Did you start vorpX Control (not Config!) from the start menu? If it is running, it shows a vorpX tray icon in your taskbar.
If that is case, here are few more things to check/try, that might or might not apply to your PC:
If you have more then one monitor attached to your PC, remove all additional monitors temporarily.
Set the Windows multi-display configuration to clone mode and select “Use System Settings” in vorpX.
Try to start your games with a vorpX shortcut (See the trouble shooting sticky for details).
If you continue to have these problems after trying/checking the above (and everything from the trouble shooting sticky), and want to do some individual trouble shooting, please write a mail to support |at| vorpx com .
Hope that helps.
What the title states, vorpx simply wont run at all in game. Im running a q9550 with a gtx 660ti and 12gb ram, so more than sufficient hardware. I’ve tried reinstalling vorpx numerous times with restarting my computer. I’ve disabled all programs that may even have the slightest chance to conflict with it (hooks, antiviruses, etc). I’ve followed everything on the basic troubleshooting. I’ve been testing between 4 games: Portal 2, Skyrim, Dirt 3, and ArmA 3. Not one have showed what apparently is a red vorpx overlay, they just start normally. Hitting DEL does nothing whatsoever…
Now does anyone have any clue to even (bare bones) just starting this?
As far as I see it, I’ve wasted $40 on this garbage…
vorpX is publically available for over three months now, and we didn’t hear of a single case so far where someone was banned, or even warned because of using vorpX. There are no guarantees though. So if you don’t want to risk anything, stick to single player modes.
That being said, Punkbuster and others would have to ban a lot of people if they would ban anyone who uses some kind of DirectX hook for image enhancement etc., so the chance of being classified as cheater when using vorpX is rather slim. Judging from my own experience I would say playing with the Rift is the opposite of a cheat. ;) But as said above, no guarantees.
DayZ Standalone doesn’t work currently BTW, the necessary profile was added a few days ago and will be available with the next update.
