dellrifter22Participant
I’ve been trying lots of profiles to get this to hook, but am convinced now that the Easy Anti Cheat system it uses simply wont allow injection. Been trying to find some type of cheat engine to bypass the current EAC, but no luck.
It’s too bad, because the ubi game watch_dogs works and looks great, and I beleive GR would also if only could get around the EAC. And GR is much more the game I’d like to play.
I hope this isn’t the future for Ubisoft games, or that somehow vorpX can find a way around anticheat systems. Makes me wonder if alternate (or less intrusive) methods of hooking vorpX is possible for these situations, perhaps even at a greater cost to performance.
dellrifter22ParticipantThanks for the update Ralf! …and all your hard work! Exciting to hear!
I’m always checking in for vorpX news, can’t stand to play my games without it these days :) … too spoiled now.
More people need to experience this!!
dellrifter22ParticipantI could not get any type of 3D working.
Update: I’ve found Z3D works after switching to windowed mode and back to fullscreen using Alt+Enter twice :) . Forgot about that trick.
And i checked the frame rates again, getting above 25 with async=on fluidsync=off. I have “sync every frame” setting turned off in game also, but didn’t test with it on.
p.s. you the Nathie on youtube? like the vr vids, introduced me to vorpX :)
dellrifter22ParticipantI tried it with all the different COD profiles as well. Didnt’s seem to have the frame rate issue you mention, but I could not get any type of 3D working. You could see the Z3D was offset a bit on the edges, but no 3D depth effect :(
you have vsync enabled in the game settings for some reason?
dellrifter22ParticipantCurrent vr hardware cannot yet match the quality of your monitor sadly, but the day will come :)
It could be an unsupported resolution issue for Outlast, I remember only being able to hit 1920×1080 with that game. I know Fallout 4 doesn’t like smaller aspect ratios, and corners the image this way for unsupported resolutions.
If it keeps happening, I’d suggest restoring the game back to defaults by validating it’s file cache in steam settings. If that fails, then a fresh reinstall. I’ve had to do this on rare occasion.
It’s the mass amounts of film grain and lack of AA that make Outlast harder to look at, yet overall it is still a good vr experience.
dellrifter22ParticipantTry increasing the resolution in game much higher than the “recommended” to see if it looks better. Then find the sweet spot of performance to resolution that feels the best. (I often use 3k x 3k resolutions. performance is rarely ideal, but image quality is quite decent)
Also there are a few handy settings to adjust on the “Image Settings” tab in the vorpX menu (press delete key in game):
– Crystal Image (set to Aggressive for most clarity)
– Brightness
– Color Saturation (increase for more vibrant colors)
– Sharpen Amount (might as well crank it all the way to 2.00)I have really enjoyed these additions to vorpX, it’s almost like having your own adjustable sweetfx built in. (thanks Ralf :))
Give those a try and let us know if it helps. Sharpen should make a big difference.
dellrifter22ParticipantIn my experience, Z3D often requires a combination of tweaks to get it to look right.
For Sacle, a combination of FOV and image zoom.
For Depth, a combination of 3D strength and Depth Weighting. My general process:
Main Settings Tab
– increase “3D Strength” to highest (or until transparent silhouette is unbearable)
– decrease “Depth Weighting” to lowest (slowly increase until distance looks too deep)Image Settings Tab
– set “Aspect Ratio Correction” to Letterbox 1 or 2 (sacrificing a bit of screen on top and bottom in order to achieve a wider FOV as needed)
– Adjust “Image Zoom” as necessary to dial in FOV and scale (zoom in to make the world look bigger, out to make it smaller)I’m realizing now that this is hard to explain in writing, things you just have to mess around with to understand. Each game is different, but if you learn to adjust the settings vorpX offers, you can often find a satisfactory Z3D experience.
dellrifter22ParticipantYou have to type the name of a game at the top
dellrifter22ParticipantNormally, to get games looking right in the headset, you have to manually tweak a games default settings like: FOV, resolution, or rendered shadows etc. These are often done through editing ini files from the games directory.
The games listed in the Settings Optimizer are ones that can have that work done for you automatically, once you click apply. True this list is small in comparison, but there are several games not listed that you can find how to do similar tweaks with a bit of googling.
Stranded Deep I’ve never played, and I don’t see it listed among Vorpx games. That doesn’t mean it can’t work, but that it like other unlisted games may never have been tested. Unless it shares the same game engine as other profiles, it may display in the headset, but likely wont work with desired 3D effect.
dellrifter22ParticipantI have a dual monitor setup, and when I try to use Vorpx Desktop Viewer I get a black screen. I have to disable my second screen in Nvidia Control pannel to get it to work.
Assuming Ralf is aware of this, I’m not sure if this is intentional or fixable for multi-monitor setups.
dellrifter22ParticipantI too have enjoyed Skyrim, Fallout4, BioShock Infinate, and Metro LL, but recently I’ve been playing a lot of:
– Battlefield 1 onilne
– Star Wars Battlefront 2015 online
– theHunter Call of the Wild (Assassins Creed Unity profile)All 3 have in game FOV adjustment and good Z3D. And I’ve been playing online without a problem, no ban or disconnect.
I’ve noticed I end up choosing Z3D over G3D almost everytime, due to its agreeable shadows and faster performance – which means I can crank up the resolution and max the eyecandy.
p.s. As of a few weeks ago an update to Dying Light has unlocked native VR support again via quick file edit. It’s not perfect, but fun to check out.
dellrifter22ParticipantJust thought I’d mention here that the new game: theHunter Call of the Wild (on steam) can work pretty well Z3D in Vorpx, using the Assassins Creed Unity profile.
Strange I know, but I was happy to find a profile that worked. It also has an in-game FOV slider up to 120 which makes it easy.
If you enjoy walking through scenic forests and seeing expansive vistas, this one is worth checking out in the scale of VR. Beautiful game. Two large reserves to explore.
Add the atv dlc for some fun trail blazing too.
dellrifter22ParticipantI’ve been playing BF1 with custom resolutions working fine. Currently using a 5:4 res of 3008×2406 – a bit overkill, but it looks pretty good. If I try to go any higher res, the games menu options become unselectable, so I have to kill the game.
Mine is working in fullscreen mode in game. This could be key to your problem.
I’ve made around 20 varying custom 16:10 and 5:4 resolutions in Nvidia Control Panel, and most games see those and can accept them.
Usually vorpx is pretty good at auto setting the aspect ratio, but you can try messing in the settings by pressing the delete key in game. I think there is a 4:3 setting. otherwise, maybe try a 5:4 resolution instead.
oh and btw, I’ve been playing BF1 and SW Battlefront online for weeks now no problem. No ban or disconnect. Just for anyone who was wondering. These games look great in vorpx and utilize your hardware quite well so you can push the visuals more.
dellrifter22ParticipantTry renaming the BMS.exe or whatever it is to HL2.exe , and double click it. I think that’s how I got it to hook.
dellrifter22ParticipantFor me, those two games start minimized, so I have to click them on the desktop taskbar.
