Thanks Ralf, Thats what I thought but wanted to be sure as I’ve told people on the Vive board that Crossfire works. In my case, pretty well.

So far I have gotten a fairly stable/enjoyable experience once getting my settings where I like them. Power hungry, but it’s the nature of the beast.

I’d also recommend people look up the “Z Fighting” vids Gopher did on Youtube if they are getting flickering on clouds/fog in Bethesda games. Those help a lot.

First, you will need more horsepower than a single 980 can provide to the best experience in Geometry mode.

Try setting you zoom to 68-70
Both the 3D sliders to 30
    Mouse accel off
Learning/getting used to Edge Peek is a must

I have been playing this setup/Settings for a while now on Crossfired 390s. With mods I get from 27 (in whiterun to 45FPS (interiors/some outdoor areas). Looks really good. I’m moving to a pair of 1080s solely for this game in VR. Once you get your settings sorted, it is phenomenal.

OK I am confused. Can you clarify this for me?

On Skyrim, I see massive activity on both cards on my Crossfire rig. When I shut one card down, I fall -to- 7-12 FPS in geometry mode (heavily modded Skyrim)

I am assuming you mean that VorpX ‘in and of itself’ is not ‘also’ using SLI/Crossfire rendering? In other words, the Games still use Crossfire/SLI to do their thing before VorpX does what it does, but VorpX is processing on one card?

I’m curious as well as I’ll be needing to upgrade.

It’s a whole new game. The first time I stood there with Lydia it was like “Holy FXXX she’s right freaking there!”. And that applies to ALL of it.

BTW…dragons are a lot bigger than they look on a monitor. A LOT bigger.

    Yes. Very well actually ;)

    My tweaks
    Set FOV to 120
    Set zoom to 68-70
Set the two 3d sliders to 30
    Turn mouse acceleration off.

    Prepare to be blown away.

Zooming out was a big improvement for me visually but I seem to be among the lucky ones immune to motion sickness.I set mine zoomed back until the bottom of the screen just barely avoids seperating into a ‘movie screen. Somewhere in the 60 range.

Also, I back the 3D enhancement functions all the way off. You still get a very 3D view without shrinking.making characters look small. I’m sure there are more but I’m still just learning myself.

Will do. I play a -LOT- of Skyrim so if you need anything on that front/besides this issue, I’ll be glad to lend a hand.

I’ll figure out how to set up/save that file, put some time in and have you the results by tomorrow.

    Thanks Ralf, much appreciated.

    Hi Ralf,

Kept my word. You released Vive comparability and I just bought the program.

Now all I need is for HTC to deliver the vive…It’s always something ;)

I was wondering about that myself. Makes sense. Thanks for the heads up.

    Hi all, Just an FWIW/IMO…

I’m a huge fan/player of Skyrim/Fallout and built/adapted my rig specifically for them. Been playing video games since the Pong arcade machine so I’m not a newb ;) Personally, I am just fine without roomscale features, though I wouldn’t complain if they ever come into being. As long as I can simply ‘see’ the world in actual VR, look around etc, I’ll haZ the happy of the Cheezbzburger cat at a McDonalds free food day.

Because the Beth games have such a force of talent in the modding community, I have little doubt that once the top names get their hands on Vives and Rifts, we will see as many incredible mods for them as we did in the normal games.

And considering, last I looked, Skyrim was still ridiculously high on Steam’s use list in spite of it’s age…well, I predict a much longer life thanks to VR. With the creation Kit for F4 about to release and the much better engine driving it/DX11 vs DX9, I’d imagine it will be easier to deal with for VR modder-devs.

But my overall point is that there are a L O T of us that want it, will use it and will pay for such functionality as required. It will take time of course. I don’t seriously expect seamless experiences day 1 or even day 100. But the possibility of Sky in VR is what drove my Vive purchase to begin with. I doubt I am alone. And it will only get better as time goes on.
