ParticipantHave you tried some of the different memory patches for Skyrim? If your using a lot of graphics mods they are basically mandatory for running Skyrim. I went from crashing non stop to crashing periodically. Bethesda games use their 20 year old engine and it cant run at 90 fps. It CAN but the game wont function properly. The way the game physics work are tied into FPS or something. So you need to cap about 60 FPS with these games. I know it sucks but it’s what the deal is. Try out some of the memory patches they might be what your looking for without the need to rebuild. Ive recently been re-bit by Skyrim and have been spending a lot of time in VR with it.

ParticipantThe software will work fine. You mite not be able to run the games with graphics fully enabled and maxed out but it will run the software just fine. I don’t ever pay attention to what my exact frame rates are but with my Dk2 and a little beefier machine the fps is great. Pretty easy equation here: Higher graphic settings = slower fps. You could run vorpx with a potato but the visuals will suck. Nothing new there, that goes for just about anything as far a software and games goes. If you want to actually use you DK2 for more then just crappy, amateur-hour Oculus demos then buy vorpx. Honestly anyone who cant get vorpx to work is either a little dumb, or has zero computer experience or cant’ read lol

ParticipantI am unfamiliar with this game but it sounds cool. Would like to get into some F1 with the rift. I would try looking into any config file for the GP patch and see if there is a way to delay the hook. Im not sure but chances are they mite be trying to hook into the game at the same time using the same file. Maybe there is a way to set up a proxy for the patch if this is the problem. Or it could be that vorpx isn’t recognizing the profile because its seeing the patch start up not the fact the patch is activating the game. You could try setting up a profile for the patch exe using the same set up as the game.

ParticipantYou’re right vorpX should make it easier for people to pirate it! lol Dude its set up like this for a reason, its not paranoid to protect your work. You answered your own question if you coud call it that. The POS virus software you use is causing the problems. Next time don’t bash your head into the screen and read the manual.

ParticipantI’m using an
oldancient version but here’s the top choice cuts in my book:
1) Skyrim (completely modable, highly tunable, 95% perfect)
2) Bioshock Infinite (outstanding visuals, great gameplay and story)
3) Fallout New Vegas (like Skyrim highly modable and tunable)
4) Grand Theft Auto 5 (highly tunable/modable, great visuals and gameplay)
5) Dishonored (Great visuals, ganmeplay and story, DLC is fantastic)honorable mentions are:
Alien Isolation

ParticipantI use enhanced camera now, it really makes a big difference to have a body. I’ve already went in and set the FOVs up. I set all to 120 (to match the normal game FOV) but it still zooms in when I sit. I can combat this a little by OVER setting the sitting FOVs to like 143. The downside is it really stretches out the rest of the view although the stuff closer looks better stretched then zoomed in when sitting. Not sure what is making the strange bit of zooming/magnification is when your sitting. It’s not a vorpX issue by any means I think it’s something ‘hard coded’ into the camera.
The sitting zoom issue cant be solved by just over opening the FOV up. It’s as if there’s another FOV type parameter being fiddled with by the game when you sit down. Would love to figure out what it is. Not a big deal but one more layer of icing for the cake lol
Hmm sounds like something that could get ironed out in the future as far as the mounts go? Or is that something of a sacrifice to get the free look cam in direct VR? So what happens when you ride a horse with it enabled? Does steering and looking get all weird? There is always a trade off it seems with VR Skyrim. Gotta have one thing less perfect to make another a little more lol Again thanks for the tips and input.
Karlor
ParticipantOne other question I have about the new directVR is about sitting and camera zoom. Whenever I sit in the game or a few other instances the camera zooms in 10%. It’s not just FOV moving in, it sort of changes and magnifies. Does the new direct VR take care of that too by chance? Anyone else know what I mean and found a solution?
Karlor
ParticipantOk, thanks again for the input. Sounds like it kicks ass! I need to finish some projects and get to overhauling/repairing my PC to try this out. Been putting it off for a long while. At least there’s light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s vorpX DirectVR it sounds like. Thanks again NipOc for the info. Ralph keep up the good work!
Karlor
ParticipantWow that sounds really cool! Thanks for the info. So the new direct VR is independent of the mouse movements? Have you tried it out in Skyrim during conversations? Can anyone confirm that YES you DEFINITELY can move your head freely to look around in conversations in Skyrim? (as apposed to the way described in OP) The reason I ask so many questions is for me to update would require a massive undertaking on my end do to technical issues. So I’m just trying to find out some details on what the new version has over the older version I have working now. I’m from the school if it aint broke don’t fix it, but if the new directVR has free head movement count me in.

ParticipantThe vids crap sorry. Way too long and still doesn’t solve the issue lol you have to set your in-gane FOV to something like 120 or greater. Then the view pulls back and your not as zoomed in making them “smaller”. The scale DOES NOT change just the view get pulled back and opened up. The issue people have is you can have your FOV set to 120 and yet your hands are still zoomed in, simply re-set you FOV back to 120 and it will zoom out your hands. The scale of the hands can only be changed with mods like race menu. You can adjust the weight down to slim them up but if you want “shorter” arms/fingers you’ll have to edit bones. The new version I think you have to compile your own sliders to be used with it. Could be why some options are missing. I was going to dig into it but pulling the FOV back to 120ish is good enough. Also the hands FOV resets from time to time and may require resetting multiple time during game play. Even if the FOV doesn’t seem to change the hands can re zoom so just reset FOV. Also try to remember that the people in Skyrim aren’t exactly realistic so if the hands and arms are a lot bigger then yours just go work out IRL ;)

ParticipantHurry guys! Here’s your lighters everyone, go set your hair on fire! Just run around bashing your head on everything you find because of an issue you haven’t even had yet. Lets just ignore the answers to our questions and just go straight into freaking out about NOTHING. You’re ALL going to be ok. You wont get screwed out of anything. Maybe next time when you ask a question and then it gets answered you should LISTEN to what the person has to say… Or just ignore it and continue bashing your forehead on your keyboard. I have had to install several times and it’s no issue to sort it out just like Ralph mentioned. Relax.

ParticipantFor the most part STEAM is probably the easiest way to get your hands on PC games these days. It’s cool because its easy and they have just about every game on there and many times cheaper then retail. It’s crappy because if you have sub par internet connection, or restrictions downloading 60GBs every other game can be a deal breaker. I also don’t care much for their business practices and policies but I digress. I would rather buy boxed versions but those are almost extinct at this rate. Some companies now sell a “boxed” version but it’s just a DVD with the steam app on it. Others still do a full release. GTA V for instance came on like 6-7 DVDs so some games still are available in physical formats. 9 times out of 10 if it’s a more modern game STEAM will have it so as much as I don’t like them, they’re where we PC gamers get most of our stuff.
Jan 29, 2017 at 10:00pm in reply to: Close to Buy: Which Games are actually working 100% in 3D? #125536Karlor
ParticipantGuys, it’s $40. How much money have you heaped into your VR set up? Stop acting like babies and crying about a damn demo. ALL of the “native” VR “games” are just DEMOS. If you want to enjoy AAA titles in 3D then Vorpx is the solution. Just as Ralph states over and over, YOUR MILEAGE WILL VARY. It’s not “dodging” the question, its the answer. Depending on how nit picky and bitchy you are about certain things YES certain Vorpx experiences will most definitively bunch up your panties. HOWEVER: if you ARE the type of person who is comfortable with reading and following instructions, as well as being able to think for your self and adjust settings then Vorpx is the solution you’re looking for. It’s worth the money. No doubt about it. Vorpx is a must have for me as I honestly cant stand the Oculus crap they pump out and call games. The only other VR app with as much polish and continued updates is FlyInside for FSX. These 2 VR apps are worth 10X what they charge. I’ve spent 1000’s of hours using these 2 products and will continue to do so. Thanks again Ralph, you’re the man.

ParticipantI sure hope to god your joking… If your friend actually asked why is vorpx “sexist” then good lord go find a new friend… Having 1 body style doesn’t make ANYTHING sexist… Sure another figure mite be cool but not having one is NOT sexist. Besides everyone knows that the body form vorpx uses is in fact a hermaphrodite, some say that the only way to see what the body’s face looks like is to have another player find you and tell you…

ParticipantCome on guy…. WHAT GAME?… WHAT MOD?.. Handy info to include when your asking for help lol…
Anyway dunsky here ya go:
I figure your meaning a bethesda title as you mention an unofficial patch? Anyway chances are you have an ENB type game hooking mod that isn’t working with vorpx. If you can(and even know what I’m talking about) you can set up proxy dlls for such programs. Also if your using a controller your going to need to map the buttons to mouse key board style(super easy but then again maybe not for some peoples kids). Also just a good idea to completely disable all mods and do a fresh install before setting up for VR. I know its a pain in the ass but that’s they way to get it done right. Also you can add mods after but be sure if its an old Bethesda title to patch it up memory wise(some titles have as many as 4 memory expanders). -
