    Thanks, that worked.

I reset the profile and disabled every custom resolution, except for 1440×1080. VorpX just leaves the resolution at 1920×1080 now, probably because it takes that as 1080p resolution and not 1440×1080. The image Zoom is set correctly to 75% though.

I’m able to get more than 1080 vertically if I increase the desktop resolution. Just enabling fullscreen mode does not work.

I have it added as custom resolution, but Borderlands 3 seems to be limited to the vertical desktop resolution, in my case 1080. It just defaults to 1920×1080 if I go above that.

It didn’t adjust the zoom options automatically, do I have to press anything for that?

It’s not possible. It’s a UWP game (windows store game) and protected against any injection or alteration of the game files.

You can use tridef with the vorpx desktop viewer. The game fps have to be locked 10-20% lower than desktop performance (fps limiter or v-sync) and fullscreen doesn’t always work either, so you may have to use something like borderless gaming.

If you want to make a profile for another game than try to use profiles for games with the same engine.

I would just overclock the 4670k.
The upgrade gives you 5-10% in modern games, like battlefield 4 (if you have a powerful gpu) and nothing in older ones, like skyrim.

The i7-7640X probably has the best bang-for-the-buck.
The i7-7740X will only be ~0-10% faster in most games.

Both can be easily overclocked, so clock shouldn’t be an issue.

Processors with many cores aren’t for games, they’re for servers, video editing, rendering…

If you really want to update the cpu for games and price isn’t an issue you should choose the 7820X, more cores are probably overkill for the next years.
The extra cores won’t give a big performance boost, but it should still be a bit faster in modern games, might be a bit slower in older ones.

Skyrim is mainly cpu bound, the special edition is slightly more gpu dependent.
If you get low gpu usage its probably because the cpu isn’t powerful enough (even if the cpu usage is low).
Skyrim is poorly optimized, it can’t use multi-core cpu’s efficiently.

Higher resolutions cause more gpu usage, higher shadow resolutions more cpu usage and the rest has no effect at all.

Fluidsync locks the fps to 45, for better asynctimewarp (frame reprojection). It is activated by default, because most people don’t get high fps in skyrim.

    Yes, you can.

As far as I understand, instead of “emulating a second mouse” directvr scans for the memory values controlling the camera.
This makes it independent from the mouse itself (cursor, mouse settings) and gives direct control over the camera (like in skyrim conversations).

You can still use the mouse for conversations in skyrim and head movements won’t move the cursor anymore.

Euro Truck Simulator 2, has a 3d profile for tridef (native support), so it should work with tridef and the desktop viewer.

Tridef works for most directx 9-11 games, not all of them (but nearly all of them).
Games that don’t have native support often have a community/user profile, that can be found in their forums.

If you consider using tridef and the desktop viewer, you should cap/limit the fps of the game and put the process priority for the desktop viewer up (in the task-manager),
or you might get choppy performance.

Not all games can be hooked and many games don’t have 3D support.
Vorpx desktop viewer + tridef close that gap.

I was able to solve the problem (more or less) by setting the priority of vorpx to realtime and disabeling crystal image.
HMD fps are now mostly at 90 and only go down to 70-80, instead of 15-20.
