OgrescarParticipantThat error indicates a problem with your gpu and/or its drivers. You need to update them, stop overclocking, turn off GSync, turn off FPS limits, remove reshade, or whatever else is necessary to fix your gpu.
OgrescarParticipantI think the only supported game that uses that engine is Prey. CryEngineV is too broad a classification though – it could mean opengl, directx 11, 12, or vulkan. Vulkan doesn’t count since vorpx doesn’t support it, but vorpx profiles have to be specific to the graphics api, not the game engine.
OgrescarParticipantI stand corrected. I don’t know what that sbs stuff in the profile notes is all about, but I assigned the profile to a random game and can see from the vorpx log that it’s trying to hook dx12, so I guess it probably works.
OgrescarParticipant“No dispone de 3DGeometrico.”
As far as I can tell, the profile expects an sbs source, so unless gears 5 can do
that natively, the profile is flat.Very much like the legnaVR “detroit become human” profile – a vulkan game not compatible with vorpx – don’t know the purpose of those profiles, other than to confuse people.
OgrescarParticipantI’ve been playing through it again – absolutely fantastic game for 3D. I have to take frequent breaks in the tombs and crypts because the climbing makes me dizzy as hell – I know I ain’t gonna fall but it sure feels like I am.
Got a decent performance boost from disabling SMT – game was optimized for intel/amd or so I’ve heard, but I’m running on ryzen/nvidia. I really wish the profile allowed dx12 because it runs substantially faster on my system.
Anyway the game supports sbs natively so vorpx is just a viewer and headtracking add-on for the most part. Thank the game devs.
OgrescarParticipantI don’t know how you managed to get hitman3 running because it crashes on startup for me, regardless of which client I use, and I’ve tried them all, including the generic 3d display, as well as all of the dx12 profiles. The vorpx log indicates a failure in directML command queuing when I use the rdr2 profile.
Nothing in your “essential” guide about that I think, but it was tld watch.

OgrescarParticipantI tried a handful of additional profiles and the only one’s I’ve found so far that do z3d are too low strength – essentially flat, if you compare them to tridef. Must be something strange with the depth buffer, maybe it’s logarithmic or something – I dunno.
OgrescarParticipantThe unity engine profiles do z3d but the effect is so weak you can hardly tell the difference. Some Unreal engine profiles try to reconstruct the 3d but it gets split down the middle of screen. So it’s kinda try the other profiles one by one.
I had a lot of trouble getting it to hook early on but the only things I think I changed was fullscreen to borderless and turned off antialiasing, so maybe it needs to be in a windowed mode.
OgrescarParticipantI took another look at this and what I said about the game being hook-proof apparently was a problem in my system at the time, since vorpx doesn’t have any issue hooking it. I tried a few dozen profiles and a lot of them hook but none reconstruct the 3d.
I tried Tridef again and it works with the generic profile. There’s probably a vorpx profile that’ll do z3d as well, I just didn’t find it.

OgrescarParticipantIt may work with vorpx but I seriously doubt it – anything that messes with headset synchronization is probably going to make vorpx nauseous. Also doesn’t work with Rift or WMR headsets so probably isn’t worth the effort to make it compatible.
Quake 2 RTX uses the vulkan api, which vorpx doesn’t currently support. As far as ray tracing in general, I don’t think there’s a GPU in existence that can do G3D and RTX at the same time at a reasonable frame rate and resolution.
OgrescarParticipantDistant objects look flat of course but up close your ship, the other ships, asteroids, space debris, etc. look pretty good. Given the type of game, I’m not sure that G3D is going to buy you much except for a resizable HUD and a 50% performance penalty.
OgrescarParticipantNone of the dx12 profiles work. They either cause the game to crash on startup, or don’t render the video to the headset or monitor.
OgrescarParticipantUnreal engine, dx12 by default but dx11 can be activated with a command line switch or maybe in the steam launcher (I have the GOG version). RDR2 profile works for dx12, I tried Conan Exiles with dx11 and got G3D, but there was a lot of shader flickering. Probably a different profile would work better, but I haven’t had a chance to look any further.

OgrescarParticipantI think you need to set your preferred processor to the nvidia gpu if you haven’t already done that.
