+1 for teardown, Purchased just haven’t played it yet. Looks incredible, but I don’t see myself playing any flatscreen game anymore. I know some vehicle allow 1st person view also which would be great in VR.

Once again, Thanks for the info. I love telling people about this awesome product in big Screen. So many people do not know anything about it.

Yes Master Chief Collection version, 1 & 2 do work, but I can’t get 3 to work. Will try again.

I use both with VorpX. I like the wireless aspect when using the Quest (I use Virtual Desktop to stream to Quest). Not all but most games work fine with this setup. I also use the Rift-S on occasion as it works very well in almost all games that work with VorpX. Hell I also use a Valve index, but I really hate the controllers with the Index, but love the comfort of the Valve Index. Good luck with your choice, its very hard.

Will have to try this again, are you sure you should run at 8:9 aspect ration, as I usually try and run 4×3

I have a few different and multiple HMDS. I love how the Index looks (I mean how VR looks with the Index), love the comfort, BUT hate the controllers. Luckily I have not had any reliability with the Knuckle controllers, but really love how the Oculus Touch controller feel and work. Rift-S not as good as OG Rift Touch controllers, but very similar. Hope this helps. (I would update to the Rift-S from the OG Rift, I did that day 1, and only bought another for a different room setup a few months back. I actually use the Quest the most, and lots of Virtual Desktop over 5G in main play space, works great (Many comfort mods on Quest)
See pic for my Main Rig setup and How I use Fishing poles to switch between HMD’s, I think really cool.

You will have to zoom in towards the bottom to see the HMD’s.

If you mean with Virtual Desktop, ALVR, or Riftcat then yes. I use VD all the time with VorpX and its awesome. Like a wireless Rift-S ;)

Found something else that doesn’t seem right. I have been playing lots of different games with vorpx recently and went back to black mesa this morning. I had the profile set up to change resolution to 1920p and an AHK script to change my desktop to 1920p before launching bms (since you can’t change resolution in game). This seemed to work fine for a while. Something got screwed up and bms would crash upon launching. So I figured I would start over, so I reset the profile, reset settings under troubleshooting reset computer and started again. This time bms did load up and I was in VR mode, but when I pulled up the profile settings, I see that 1920p was still selected. I thought it would go back to 1280p (I thought that was the default). Am I doing something wrong.

I also saw in some other threads (bioshock) that positional tracking was not working right. I too see that sometimes, meaning when I move my head nothing really happens in the vr world. I then turn off posiitonal tracking and strangly the world seems to move when I move my head. Isn’t that the opposite of what is suppose to happen. Thanks

I’m so glad you posted this ralf. I have play 2 or 3 hours so far of Alyx and have enjoyed it mostly. I started out playing on a brand new Index that I was lucky enough to pick up when it went on sale last time, but I really hate the controllers. I really don’t like how to grab and crush things with force, I really prefer the Oculus Touch controller and their grab button. I also hate the touch pad area on the Index Controllers for switching weapons (well I guess its alright).
I rebuilt a PC just for this release and ran into all sorts of issues and I’m a super computer nerd with over 40 computers in my house (3 VR stations even). After having issues with Oculus Home loading up because of HMD not detected, I uninstalled Oculus software and reinstalled everything (took like 12 hours). Played 1 hour with the Index and then switched to the Rift-S. The visuals are truely amazing and the best that I have ever seen, but looks is not everything as I still play old 1980’s arcade games :)
I too have thought that I really did prefer VorpX games like Half-Life 2, Black Mesa (awesome), Bioshock, Borderlands, etc. I like to sit down on a swivel chair and it just works sooo well now.
Thanks Ralf for your incredible product and can’t wait for the next release. Hope that Doom Eternal could be possible at some point in the future.
