RalfKeymasterDoesn’t really seem to be a widespread issue considering that the game is rather popular currently, but you should be able to circumvent the issue by running the game windowed instead of fullscreen. That way nothing should get interrupted when you switch to the desktop.
RalfKeymasterHuh? That’s odd for sure. Try a reinstall, that will fix it almost certainly.
RalfKeymasterI would be interested too, must be that soft spot for unpopular indie games I’m suffering from. Let me know if/when you get it working.
Seriously: when a AAA game of such a caliber comes out, you can be relatively sure that it will at least be evaluated. Whether things pan out in the end is a different question, of course. So – most of you probably guessed that – as always: no promises.
Unrelated, but this seems like another good opportunity to mention that creating user profiles is no rocket science. If you can’t find a profile for a game which doesn’t happen to be a AAA game that will be checked out anyway, you can always try yourself. For long time users who know their way around there is no real excuse not to try. ;) The ‘User Profiles’ section in the help has a short introduction on the matter.

RalfKeymasterMight be your head. :) Per default vorpX emulates a gamepad for head tracking in F1 2019. The emulated input is added to the right gamepad stick input. Maybe your wheel is set up in a way that interferes or you have changed the axis assignments in the game options. Hard to tell from here, but either way some conflict with the head tracking gamepad emulation sounds like the most likely explanation.
You might be able to resolve this by changing the gamepad index vorpX emulates on the ‘Input’ page of the vorpX menu or by completely disabling the ‘Head Tracking As Gamepad’ option if the former does not help.
Jun 25, 2020 at 2:15pm in reply to: Questions about Gamepad and head tracking mouse in Vorpx #195626
RalfKeymasterWarning: technical explanations ahead. If you consider them illogical or plain stupid, you have to take my word for it. :)
Gamepad:
The right stick’s y-axis sensitivity is reduced on purpose and I would highly suggest to leave it that way. This is done to make inadvertantly changing the vertical view center harder. Practically no native VR app allows you to rotate your view vertically with controllers. Reducing the gamepad’s y-axis sensitivity simulates how most native VR games work in that regard.
If you still want to change the sensitivity for some reason, you can do so on the ‘Input’ page of the vorpX menu. Depending on whether vorpX has to emulate mouse/kb with the gamepad for a game or not, you can do so either directly on the Input page (without gamepad override) or in the regular sensitivity options (with gamepad override active).
BTW: If you encounter a game where the gamepad override is active per default, please leave it that way. This option is never activated just for fun. It is always necessary for one or the other reason if it is enabled per default.
Edge Peek:
With mouse based head rotation vorpX has to apply head tracking while in EdgePeek mode to ensure the game camera is still rotated correctly after leaving EdgePeek. Theoretically it should be possible to just ‘record’ head movement and then apply the difference from before EdgePeek later, but that never worked reliably enough to be ready for prime time. Might come some day, but the list of nice-to-have-stuff is long, so no promises.
RalfKeymasterI’m not really sure whether I understand the issue TBH. What are you pressing the Windows keys for? There should be no reason to do that while in the game.
RalfKeymasterIf you use anything else than Windows Defender, also consider uninstalling your AV software for testing purposes. Some more obnoxious ones are fairly difficult to disable. Defender will kick in instead, so there isn’t really any risk involved.
There might also other background programs interfering, not just your AV suftware. If you have any background tools running, disable all of them. The guide lists a few potential candidates, but the best way to trouble shoot something like this is exiting everything that you may have running in the background.
RalfKeymasterDid you check everything else from the pinned trouble shooting guide in regard to hooking conflicts too? Hooking issues almost always are related to some other program also hooking into games.
Apart from that the ‘Alternative Hooking’ checkbox in the config app might be woth a shot. Sometimes that can relove hooking issues without getting to the bottom of it. Caveat: don’t forgot to switch back even if that helps. Some games require default hooking.
RalfKeymasterI’m not sure what you consider strong 3D, but at max the player character, which in reality would be about 2m big, looks like a garden gnome. I.e. in terms of VR, which aims at recreating realistic scale, 3D is actually way too strong when you amp it up.
RalfKeymasterDid you see this post a little bit further down?
RalfKeymasterThere isn’t really a general answer to that question, depends on too many things ranging from your PC to your personal preferences. Go always as high as you can while not sacrificing too much performance for your taste. Personally I consider 1440p or 1680p pretty good in most games, but I also know of some users who apparently care more for visual fidelity than framerate and go much higher than that.
RalfKeymasterDid you maybe for some reason accidentally set vorpX to run in XP compatiblity mode? Out of the three times or so I recall someone with this problem in the last few years that was always the solution.
RalfKeymasterThe desktop viewer does not work with the ‘Generic Headset’. Since in that mode the output is shown on the desktop that woudn’t really make sense.
The desktop viewer only works with the headset type set to ‘Oculus’ or ‘SteamVR’.
BTW: Please NEVER turn on any compatibility mode for vorpX, Windows 8 or otherwise.
RalfKeymasterThanks for the hint. No promises, but I’ll take a look at it. Although to be honest I slowly lose interest in fixing WoW. We’ll see, maybe I’ll just take it off the official list. One would think after 15 years of tinkering with their renderer these people should slowly be at a point where they can just leave it alone instead of introducing changes every six months that break the vorpX profile.
Jun 22, 2020 at 10:02pm in reply to: heavy rain, beyond and detroit:become human have no profiles #195573
RalfKeymasterYes, there are various profiles that you can use as a base for SBS custom profiles. E.g. MPC-HC for DX9, Dolphin, Rise of the Tomb Raider, VLC for DX11.
Dolphin, RotTR and probably a few others I don’t recall right now are already set to SBS 3D.
The video player profiles (MPC-HC, VLC) default to mono content, but you can change the content type to SBS 3D in the vorpX menu. 360° content is also supported, stereo as well as mono.
BTW: Best 360° videos ever (although monoscopic), at leaest for the
absentabstract minded like me:
