RalfKeymasterTwo questions:
1. Does this plugin still work with a current PCSX2? The latest (and only) version I could find doing a brief Google search is several years old.
2. Is there some more ‘official’ way to get the plugin than a forum post? To support the plugin in a profile I would at least have to include instructions how to install it.
RalfKeymasterI didn’t try that myself, but you would almost certainly have to select “SteamVR” as device type in the vorpX config app for this.
Alternatively you can stream to your Quest wired via Oculus Link with any Link capable USB3 cable. The charging cable that comes with the Quest isn’t, but most $10+ USB3 data cables are. Alternatively Oculus sells a dedicated fibre optics cable.
BTW: I removed your other post regarding the same matter. No double posts please. Thanks.
RalfKeymasterI don’t think there is a way to make that work currently. The desktop viewer uses a hidden window that probably gets also minimized when you minimize all windows. Regardless whether you do that via WIN+D or by clicking ‘Show desktop’.
It *might* be possible to handle this case in a future version by detecting when the window gets minimized. No promises, but I will check that.

RalfKeymasterGame AI broken by .ini typo. Shit happens, I guess. Funny that noone noticed that until years after release.
I’ll add this AI fix as a tweak to the DirectVR auto settings for the next vorpX version.

RalfKeymasterI’d like to throw one into the ring that I always considered underrated. Have to mention it once a year or so: Aliens: Colonial Marines.
If you aren’t opposed to straight up shooter gameplay in a science fiction setting with a little bit of horror thrown in, you can’t go wrong with this one. Don’t expect a masterpiece like Bioshock, but it’s a more than solid shooter with great atmosphere that lends itself very well to being played in VR.
It’s a few years old, so it also performs very well. On modern GPUs you should largely be able to reach 90fps with Geometry 3D. There also is full DirectVR support with all bells and whistles.
RalfKeymasterNope, didn’t encounter this. Running the game windowed might be worth a shot (or fullscreen if you currently are running it windowed)
RalfKeymasterNo problem here with the latest Defender definitions (1.315.44.0 from today). Please try to run a manual Windows update search.
Apart from that:
This is a false positive. Can happen after an update unfortunately.
vorpX “injects” other programs which some av programs may classify as malicious behaviour without really being sure about it.
Please exclude the vorpX program folder (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX) from scanning.
RalfKeymasterI don’t think that error can be related to this database update. Maybe to the actual vorpX update a few days ago. Possible that either the update itself didn’t work right or some annoying antivirus removed the config app.
Try a reinstall. If you kept the original web installer, you can use that. Otherwise: https://www.vorpx.com/request-new-download/
If the config app disappears again afterwards, it’s an antivirus problem. Exclude the vorpX program folder in that case.
RalfKeymasterThat sounds weird indeed, never heard of that one before. In case you didn’t check that already, mapping ‘enter/exit’ to some other key sounds like a good first idea. Just to make sure that it’s really the ‘F’ key that fails and not some more general issue, i.e. the game losing input focus for some reason.
Might also be worth a shot to try without Voice Attack. I have no experience with that program, but its description sounds as if it might interact with keyboard input. Since vorpX also hooks certain keyboard related functions, I wouldn’t rule out that both together might not work well.
RalfKeymasterNone of that should happen. Please try what I suggested above, and if it doesn’t help I’d like to take a look at some trouble shoot data to check whether there is something unusual. You can create a trouble shoot data archive in the config app and send it to support at vorpx com.
RalfKeymasterCan’t really say anything to to your proximity sensor issue, better ask that question on the Oculus forum.
You neither need an invasive third party AV program nor a third party firewall on Windows 10. It comes with both. If you uninstall your AV program, Windows Defender kicks in, same for the firewall.
Can’t really suggest anything more than above, sorry. Hooking issues almost always are related to a conflict with some other program on your PC that also hooks into games, so please double and triple check for any background apps you may have running.
Apart from that checking the ‘Alternative Hooking’ option in the config app might be worth a shot. Be aware though that some games require the normal method, so even if it helps, don’t forget to switch back.

RalfKeymasterGuys, I perfectly understand that you get excited when you read something like this, which is why I am constantly replying to this thread explaining that normally this is not the case.
I am closing this thread now before some urban legend arises that I have to deal with for the next three years. Sorry and thanks for your understanding.
Again: Under normal circumstances the difference between ‘Generic VR Headset’ and ‘SteamVR’ is about 10-15%. There is no magic trick to make G3D twice as fast. I wish there was and would be as happy about it as you, but there isn’t.

RalfKeymasterYes, I did try that myself. Quite regularly since five years when SteamVR support was first added to vorpX. I also programmed both modes, so I’m well aware how they work, what performance cost is involved and why.
I understand that to you it must look as if you have found some great trick and I’m happy that it works for you. Your results however are not normal at all. Under normal circumstances the difference between ‘Generic VR Headset’ and ‘SteamVR’ is about 10-15%.
Your GTX980 only has 4GB, which almost certainly is not enough for modern games at cranked up detail settings without maxing out memory. G3D in itself requires more memory, rendering to the headset via SteamVR even more, so assuming that you hit some memory limited with your card in SteamVR mode is a reasonable theory.
My brief Fallout 4 test seems to support that theory, but of course it’s just a theory. Should I be able to replicate your findings later with other games, I’ll let you know.

RalfKeymasterJust a brief follow up: Might well be related to graphics memory with your GTX980. I just tested Fallout 4 and on Ultra settings with Geometry 3D the overall memory required in SteamVR mode would exceed the 4GB of GPU memory on your card by ~500MB at a fairly low res of 1920×1080. That would become even worse with higher resolutions.
I’ll do some more testing later. For now I would recommend to not crank everything up to the max in case you did that before. Judging from the brief FO4 test maxed out memory on your GTX980 sounds like a reasonable theory.
RalfKeymasterI’m not sure whether Monster Hunter World still works. Some user recently told me the game now has some anti-hooking protecten, but just yesterday someone else said it should still work when set to DirectX 11. So that might be worth a shot.
Battlefront II will definitely have to be set to DirectX 11, although normally vorpX should be able to do that automatically in this case.
Apart from that please check the pinned trouble shooting guide on top of this sub forum. If you experience hooking issues with multiple games, the most likely cause is a conflict with some other program on your PC. The guide has more details in this regard.
