Please read through the guide linked above thoroughly. You can’t possibly have done that within two minutes. :)

Please make sure that your Windows 10 is updated to version 1903 (1809 might also work, but I’m not sure). If you are unsure about that run click the start button and then type: winver [ENTER]. The window that now opens should contain the line ‘Version 1903’.

If you experience this with several games, the most likely issue is a conflict with some other program that also hooks into games. Typical cases would be invasive AV software, GPU/CPU utilities or chat programs that can show notofications in games.

You can find more detailed information about the matter here.

@ james: if vorpX does not update automatically on your PC, you can reinstall it using your web installer. If you don’t have it anymore, you can get a new one here.

If you have multiple monitors attached to your GPU, try to remove all except the main monitor. If that helps, you can later try to launch the desktop viewer with the -output paramter (e.g. -output 0) added to the target field of its shorcut. That you can define which monitor to use for the desktop viewer.

Please make sure to use the Steam version of the game and if you changed any vorpX settings, reset the profile to default in the config app.

Also make sure to remove any mods if you have mods installed for the game.

DirectVR tracking/FOV should work out of the box for HL2 without even running the memory scanner.

Alternatively you can add arbitrary resolutions yourself instead of using DSR, which in many games is better since that way you can choose resolutions with uncommon aspect ratios. You can find detailed instructions including a list of resolutions that make sense for vorpX in the “Custom Resolutions” section of the vorpX help (or here).

    Yes.

BTW: You can easily check whether a game is supported in the config app. All officially supported games are listed on the local profiles page. If you do not see a game there, chances are that a user profile exists, which you can check on the cloud profiles page.

This message might get shown if the server session gets invalidated while being logged in, although normally vorpX should notice that and change the state to logged out. If you haven’t done that already, try directly after logging in, sessions time out after 10 minutes or so of inactivity IIRC.

Apart from that: can you download profiles from the cloud? In that case there might be an issue with your firewall preventing the upload.

Please send a savegame to support |at| vorpx com that I can check. I played the game for quite some time myself a while ago without encountering any such issue, but who knows, maybe it occurs later.

Before you do that, as always: if you tweaked any vorpX settings, please first try to reset the profile to default in the config app. No vorpX settings tweaking whatsoever should be required for this game.

I have to look into it. Constantly updated games always have a relatively high risk of something breaking with a game update. Will check it before the next vorpX release.

Not quite sure how using EdgePeek wouldn’t help though. In EdgePeek mode all HUD scaling etc. gets disabled. If the game still looks different in EdgePeek mode compared to playing without vorpX, set the ‘EdgePeek 3D Multiplier’ option to 0.0 (might require expert settings enabled in the config app to become available).

If you tweaked any other vorpX settings, please also try to reset the profile to default in the config app. No vorpX settings tweaking whatsoever should be necessary for this game.

I perfectly understand that you can do exciting and fun things by changing the camera position more than necessary for actual positional tracking, but that can also be used for severe cheating in online games and getting banned for stuff like this is neither fun nor exciting for anyone, may even lead to vorpX getting disallowed in games where it currently can be used without problems. Unfortunately I have to consider that more important. After all vorpX is not supposed to be a cheat tool of any kind, its purpose is to play games in VR.

What I meant was a vorpX reinstall, although that’s unlikely to make a difference. vorpX would throw an error if the cursor texture was missing. Two more things you could try are resetting the profile to default in the config app and running the game windowed/fullscreen. Maybe that helps.

I tried the game in the meantime to check whether there maybe is some recently introduced issue with it, but it works just as well as it always did, so apart from the above I’m out of ideas.

The only thing I could possibly imagine in that case is that maybe the cursor texture is missing for whatever reason. Please try a full reinstall of vorpX.

In games with a ‘hardware cursor’ vorpX uses its own since the hardware cursor isn’t automatically stereo duplicated. vorpX should be able to determine the cursor visibility automatically, but if that fails for some reason, you can use ALT+C to turn on/off the vorpX cursor.

I’m unaware that there is an issue with Mass Effect 3 in that regard, never encountered it here, but either way ALT+C should do the trick.
