OK guys, you won :) . Before we get a lengthy discussion here about less than a pinky finger’s width of a visible bar in immersive screen mode that 99% of you (everyone with a headset that has positional tracking) can easily get rid of themselves in 1 sec., I’ll adjust the minimum distance slightly.

@ nieda: Immersive screen mode didn’t even exist in the DK2 days. You can easily not use it and turn off everything that makes your life easier if you prefer the DK2-vorpX-experience.

FOV in Tron 2.0 is handled by DirectVR (ini edit) and always set to the correct value for your headset. If that does not work for you, please check whether you see an autoexec.cfg in the game’s install folder. The autoexec.cfg should contain “fovx” and and “fovy” values set by vorpX.

If that is not the case, make sure you have write access to the game’s install folder or alternatively launch the game with admin rights, which might also help.

Scale – as always – can be freely adjusted in the vorpX menu if you believe the default settings do not provide natural scale. With the correct FOV it should look right per default though.

There is a much easier way to solve this issue: don’t disable DirectVR auto resolution. ;) You would never have encountered this problem if you hadn’t disabled that. Alternatively set a resolution just a little bit wider than 4:3, e.g. 3216×2400.

BTW: With the next update DirectVR will support resolutions up to 2400p instead of the current max. of 1680p.

Try to exclude the vorpX program folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX) from your AV scanner.

BTW: If you are using Windows 10, I would recommend to switch to Windows Defender. Since about at least two years or so Windows Defender provides excellent protection on par with third party AV programs while at the same being less invasive.

You can switch to Windows Defender on Windows 10 by uninstalling your third party AV program. It kicks in automatically without third party AV installed.

If you want to get even closer thna the min. distance, there is a simple ‘trick’: lean back 30cm, hit ALT+SPACE to recenter tracking and return to your normal position.

I would only do this for games that allow to raise the FOV somehow though. Games with a typical monitor FOV start to become uncomfortable when you get too close. That’s the reason for the chosen min. distance, which almost fills your entire view but still works comfortably with a relatively low FOV.

The method above works perfectly fine without any side effects though, so you can easily get as close to the screen as you want.

Ah, sorry. You may have to enable expert settings in the config app first. Then you find it ingame on the input page of the vorpX menu.

I’ll put it on my ‘maybe-features’ list, but don’t get your hopes up for seeing this anytime soon.

Try without setting the active window in Autohotkey, maybe you didn’t get the right one. If you don’t set one, Autohotkey might try the system’s current input window. According to the Autohotkey docs there are also supposedly more reliable variants of the send command. Probably worth a shot to try all of them.

Soma is not supported by vorpX. vorpX can display most OpenGL games in mono, but only older OpenGL titles are displayed in stereo. Stereo support for the most part is provided for more common DirectX9-11 games.

If you are new to vorpX, I would suggest to first check games from the list linked below. These work as good as possible with minimal fuzz.

Good Full VR Games for Beginners

If you haven’t done so already, also check the ‘Essential Hints Guide’, either in the vorpX help (or here). The vorpX help also contains other useful information.

And lastly the full list of supported games can be found here. First check the ‘Good Games for Beginners’ list though, games on that list work pretty much without you having to know much about how vorpX works.

Try to toggle the alt key blocking option in the vorpX menu on/off after starting the game. Currently the related setting is accessed on start before it has been loaded from the config file, so your preference isn’t used. Toggling the option in the menu will apply the intended setting.

Will be fixed in the next update.

Keyboard input is polled directly in hooked games.

Out of curiosity: what headset would drift so heavily that it requires recentering every 10secs? Not even my pre-Rift-DK1 DIY headset was that bad.

Glad you could solve the issue.

I may at least have an idea how to better cope with motion sickness if your are sensitive to it. While not quite as immersive, switching the ‘Play Style’ option to cinema mode can help a great deal since it provides some fixed reference for your brain around the moving game world.

After a while you (hopefully) will get more used to free locomotion in VR and can switch back immersive screen/Full VR mode.

Thanks for the heads-up. If I can replicate the behavior, I’ll override the hooking method in the desktop viewer profile so others won’t fall into the same trap.

BTW: The alternative method is not per se better than normal hooking, just different. It’s intended more as a fallback in case of issues. I would recommend to only check the alternative hooking checkbox if you encounter an issue with a specific game/app on your machine.

I have reset your MyCommerce download links.

Alternatively you can get a link from our server at any time here: https://www.vorpx.com/request-new-download/

I also was fast enough for the first batch, although more or less by accident TBH. Just happened to check the Steam page at the right time.
