RalfKeymasterShouldn’t matter. You will need both to use vorpX, but whether you install the Oculus software first or vorpX is not important.
RalfKeymasterScanning through a gigabyte of RAM and finding exactly that one address that is used for the camera position is a delicate and rather complex matter. There always is a chance of failure unfortunately. For Unreal Engine 3 games more than in other cases. Hence the disclaimer message that is shown during each scan.
Just the positional scan failing isn’t really a big deal though, Bioshock still has the ‘normal’ Geometry 3D positional tracking without it.
RalfKeymaster@ Heccer : Your last post had to be removed. Discussing pirated games is not allowed here for hopefully understandable reasons.
For Bioshock you will indeed have to add -dx9 to the launch options on Steam though. Important: only the original version is currently fully supported, not the ‘Remastered’ version. You automatically get both when you purchase the remaster on Steam.
Sorry for the confusion, I thought your post above was related to Tomb Raider.
RalfKeymasterI’m unaware of a no Steam version of the game, but please make sure that the “Don’t optimize game settings” in the vorpX config app is NOT checked. Normally vorpX adjusts everything automatically, no need for any shortcut workarounds.
If the no Steam version is something legit, please let me know where to purchase it and I’ll check whether something might be different for this version.
RalfKeymasterI saw your other post, no need to post twice. Can’t say anything useful at this point, sounds definitely not correct. Please check whether it’s maybe related to graphics settings in the game (e.g. HDR rendering).
I’ll check the game with a WMR headset before the next update to see whether it might be a WMR issue. That seems unlikely though.
RalfKeymasterSeems like you have an older vorpX version installed, in the latest one the list entry should read “SteamVR (Vive, WMR, Pimax)” to avoid confusion in this regard.
If vorpX does not auto update on your machine fro some reason, you can get an installer here: http://www.vorpx.com/request-new-download/
RalfKeymasterI’ll look into the game shortly, already bought it. Seems to a top seller on Steam currently, so an official profile will be made available as soon as possible.
RalfKeymastervorpX tries to block various overlays (Steam, Origin, Uplay, GOG) as a precautionary measure since they might cause conflicts in some cases. Usually they don’t though. You can disable that in the config app (“General” page > “Misc.” > “Try to block known game overlays”).
Whenever you encounter issues with hooking into games after disabling this option, the first thing you should try is re-enabling it.
RalfKeymasterThere is no recent video I’m aware of showing the game with DX11, but like most games these days it has full Geometry 3D support, which means that everything is rendered twice from two different angles similar to how 3D works in native apps.
Just in case: vorpX does not alter the gameplay in any way. It’s still an isometric top-down game with vorpX and best played in cinema mode.
RalfKeymasterThat sounds indeed odd. Just a shot in the dark but if you happen to use an Oculus headset, before reinstalling Windows you could try to switch vorpX to SteamVR mode instead of native Oculus just in case it’s some weird issue regarding the Oculus runtime.
RalfKeymasterWithout DirectVR head tracking like in FO4 after running the scan vorpX emulates a mouse for head tracking.
If you play with inverted mouse, head movement in vorpX would also be inverted. Normally the invert head tracking settings should take of that, but if it doesn’t for some reason, it might make sense to check the game’s settings.
RalfKeymasterI’ll think about it. That’s all I can promise for now.
RalfKeymasterFirst the usual Star Citizen disclaimer that preceeds every reply regarding the game: due to its ever changing alpha state the game is not supported by vorpX. Like its start message says the profile is provided purely for those who want to experiment. That is doubly true for Geometry 3D mode, which is quite likely to break with a new SC update.
That said, I’ll look into the game again before the next larger vorpX update. If there is an issue that can be fixed, it will fixed, but there is no guarantee for that (see above).
For the time being please switch to the default Z3D mode, which judging from other users’ feedback still seems to work.
RalfKeymasterThe obvious thing first: the desktop viewer does not work on Windows 7.
If your system meets that requirement (likely), please create a trouble shoot data archive in the config app and send that to support |at| vorpx com. Maybe your logfiles it contain some useful information.
Nov 25, 2018 at 6:40pm in reply to: Skyrim + ENBoost broken by vorpX 18.3.0 update, need rollback installer/files #177027
RalfKeymasterSkyrim is tested on a regular basis before each update due to its still surprisingly high popularity. There is no general issue with the game. As always with heavily moddable games please first check whether your issue also occurs without any mods installed. Only if that is the case assume that it might be a vorpX issue.
Mods that should be disabled first are any graphics enhancing mods like ENB and CPU/GPU memory consuming mods like texture/model packs, expecially if you are using the original 32bit/DX9 version of the game (Oldrim). Since vorpX requires a fair amout of both CPU/GPU memory itself, using vorpX with a heavily modded 32bit Skyrim with huge texture replacements may just be too much for the limited memory that is available for 32bit processes.
