RalfKeymasterDid you by any chance copy d3d dlls to your system folder manually at some point? Like the error message says the d3d dll in question is not the right one for your OS, which normally can only happen by copying files manually to the system folder.
I would suggest to remove the DLL in question and then try to reinstall both vorpX and DirectX, the latter using the official DirectX web installer from Microsoft.
RalfKeymasterI can see a purchase with the mail address that you used to register here, but unfortunately no e-mail with a key request. Appararently it didn’t go through for some reason.
Please post your request code here, I will then process the request manually ASAP.
RalfKeymasterAs far as I can tell your key e-mail has been sent to the mail address that you used to register here.
I did resend it, just in case. Please let me know if it still did not reach you.
RalfKeymasterYou need to make sure that BOTH the name and the key field look EXACTLY like in the key e-mail.
The name field has to contain your name followed by the e-mail address in parantheses EXACTLY LIKE IN THE E-MAIL.
Use COPY AND PASTE to avoid typos.
Take a look at the EXAMPLE IMAGE attached to the mail.
RalfKeymasterAnother option would be the PC Gaming Wiki (http://pcgamingwiki.com), which often also has other useful infos for creating custom profiles, e.g. ways to adjust the FOV of a game.
RalfKeymasterSorry for the inconvenience, you should have received you key now. The issue was that you used two different mail addresses for the purchase and the key request, hence your key request could not be verified originally.
RalfKeymasterI never used the Cinematic Mod with vorpX myself, sorry. When I used it many years ago it was more or less “just” a texture/music pack.
Maybe it has its own .exe now for example or something similar, so that vorpX can’t recognize it. That’s just a guess though.
Apr 23, 2017 at 12:26pm in reply to: Skyrim – DirectScan interfered with by d3dx9_42.dll Memory Fix. Any workaround? #127930
RalfKeymaster@ Morderath : I’ll take a look at it, but it’s quite likely that the only way to address this is not using that mod. Everything that changes the memory layout of the game, which a mod called “Memory Fix” almost certainly does, can potentially cause issues with Direct VR.
General rule of thumb for using many mods and vorpX at the same time: if you run into odd issues, the very first thing you should do is trying an unmodded Skyrim and than add your mods back one by one to check what works and what doesn’t.
That is especially true for using super hi-res texture packs since vorpX itself and in addition to that the headset runtimes raise the GPU memory requirements considerably.
RalfKeymasterThere seems indeed to be a potential issue with Crystal Image on Vive after some time. Since its effect is rather subtle anyway, it will probably be disabled per default on Vive (again) in the next version.
RalfKeymasterStar Citizen does not work unfortunately, it crashes on start since their huge engine upgrade last year. Hence there is a hidden profile for the purpose of disallowing user profiles altogether.
You can play the game using the vorpX desktop viewer. Just be aware that that’s a workaround and won’t provide a lot of vorpX’s normal functionality. Most importantly playing games with the desktop viewer doesn’t provide any stereo 3D.
RalfKeymasterDirect VR automatically sets the FOV to the correct value for your headset. The FOV set by Direct VR is quite close to 110 normally, just a little bit more precise.
If that isn’t the case, the only potential things I can imagine is that either a camera mod changes the FOV or something prevents Direct VR from applying the calculated FOV, for example by a virus scanner. If you use anything alse than Windows Defender, please try to disable your scanner and check whether that helps.
Also make sure that your Skyrim is up-to-date in Steam. The Direct VR FOV for Skyrim is not completely version independent.
RalfKeymasterThis is a false positive.
vorpX injects other programs which some overzealous AV scanners may classifiy as malicious without actually being sure about that. In layman’s terms: your AV scanner takes a guess and its guess is wrong.
PLEASE REPORT THIS AS A FALSE POSITIVE TO YOU AV VENDOR SO THEY CAN FIX THE ISSUE.
In the meantime please exclude the vorpX program folder from scanning. Usually that is C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX.
In general I would recommend to use Windows Defender, which comes free with Windows and provides a good level of protection without the annoying invasiveness of some other AV scanners.
RalfKeymasterYou can make copies of existing profiles in the config app (local profiles page) and assign new programs to these copies. That is exactly what you would like to do
Be aware though that there is no guarantee that profiles created this way will work. Also these ‘generic’ user profiles (obviously) don’t have any game specific fixes and adjustments. For the best chance of success use a profile of a game as a base that uses the same graphics engine as the game you want to try.
RalfKeymasterAs said earlier I can’t comment on upcoming (or not) game support anymore whatsoever since apparently that is the only way to avoid potential confusion. Sorry again.
RalfKeymasterGreat work. Thanks.
BTW: I don’t know if you already post your videos on Reddit, but if you don’t: both the Oculus (reddit.com/r/oculus) and the Vive (reddit.com/r/vive) sub-reddit are good places for letting interested people know about VR related videos. If I’m not totally mistaken, these are the largest VR related communities aside from the official SteamVR/Oculus forums.
