Glad to hear that. I’ll try to contact Bitdefender about this. Some of these AV-companies are remarkably unwilling to communicate though…
RalfKeymasterNo, your DK1 should still work fine. You seem to be caught in a rather unfortunate loop as it seems. Sorry for the inconvenience. Normally you just have to select the DK1 in the config app, and then all is well again with a DK1.
Apparently the configuration app crashes for some reason when it is launched though. Please try to open the config app from the start menu directly.
If that doesn’t help, please try to reboot and reinstall vorpX afterwards.
If that still doesn’t help, please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com.
RalfKeymaster1. Multiple monitor may cause problems. If in doubt, please disable additional monitors. I am aware that this is less ideal, but this got slighly worse the DK2 and the need to set it to portrait unfortunately.
2. Not sure what might cause this. If others report similer things I will investigate it. For now I do not have an explanation unfortunately.
3. Please check the different 3D-options (Geometry 3D/Z-Buffer), especially in Geometry 3D, when supported, it’s next to impossible that a game does not show a 3D effect. In Z-Buffer 3D some graphics cards/drivers may prevent vorpX from finding the Z-Buffer, but that would only affect a few games at most. You can enhance the 3D effect by raising the “3D-Strength” slider in the options menu.
RalfKeymasterCan you make a screenshot of that (using FRAPS for example), ideally with a foreground object before a larger open space, and then send it to support |at| vorpx com with some information about your graphics card, driver version etc.?
Just checked that here on three machines right before release to make sure nothing is broken in Skyrim. It is possible though that other cards/drivers make it impossible for vorpX to find the Z-Buffer.
Thanks in advance.
RalfKeymasterVery odd issue. I’m not sure if I can be of any help though. I’d really like to present you a solution, but this is totally unheard of unfortunately.
If the problem persists, please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com. Before you receive your activation key I can refund your purchase in case you do not find a solution.
RalfKeymasterBe sure to recenter from time to time with [SHIFT][SPACE]. This might help and is important when you change your neutral position.
In generally this is correct behaviour though since your eyes (obviously ;)) do not rotate around their centers in reality too. That being said, it might not be entirely correct in vorpX.
RalfKeymasterDid you change any 3D related settings (for example the 3D-Strength or the 3D-FOV-enhancement)?
The whole system is still a bit rough around the edges, so some 3D related settings might have an influence on this. With default settings at least up/down/left/right should be exactly the same.
RalfKeymasterThe new games are:
Antichamber (G3D)
Batman: Arkham Asylum (G3D/Z3D)
Bioshock Infinite (G3D)
Borderlands (G3D/Z3D)
F.E.A.R. (G3D/Z3D)
F.E.A.R. 2 (G3D/Z3D)
F.E.A.R. 3 (Z3D)
F1 2013 (G3D/Z3D)
Gone Home (G3D)
Retrovirus (Z3D)
Space Engineers (G3D/Z3D)
Splinter Cell Blacklist (Z3D)
State of Decay (G3D/Z3D)
The Stanley Parable (G3D/Z3D)
Thief [2014] (Z3D)RalfKeymasterDid you try to install to another location? Looks like for whatever reason the install dir is locked. Re-booting might also be worth a try if you haven’t done that already.
BTW: Please report the false positive to BitDefender if you find the time for that. That would help us and possibly others greatly.
One general thing: The way this works in vorpX is not well suited for really large movements (standing up and running arounf will not work). This works best when being seated. Normal upper body movement (peeking around an egde, leaning into the scene etc.) should work fine.
RalfKeymasterPlease send a mail to support |at| vorpx com, we’ll probably be able to help you with this. MyCommerce from time to rejects payments for no apparent reason.
RalfKeymasterPlease make sure that games are set to 1920×1080 for the Rift DK2. It’s more picky in this regard than DK1. Also please double check the display config. The DK2 has to be set to “Portrait”.
Skyrim should also work with the Rift set to ‘Direct to HMD’ BTW. Saving you the Extended-mode hassle. Most other games probably won’t though.
RalfKeymasterPlease try to hold the SHIFT key and then only briefly tip the SPACE bar. When holding SPACE for too long the key press might not get registered correctly.
RalfKeymasterYou can use a mod to address this if it bothers you, at least if I’m not mistaken. I’m not 100% sure but I think ‘immersive first person’ or something similar to that.
For some reason hands and weapos are rendered separate from the rest of the world and they aren’t easy to detect inside vorpX.
RalfKeymaster@ jwvanderbeck : Try reinstalling Skyrim. The game is running for such a long time with vorpX on so many machines that it’s relatively safe to say that there isn’t a general issue with this game and vorpX.
You can also try to do a factory reset in the vorpX config app, in case you have messed with settings a lot.
And last but not least: Check whether you are using an Oculus profile in the vorpX config app. This is buggy currently (see the above sticky).
RalfKeymasterCanĀ“t see the edges: Please check the documentaion (quick reference). vorpX has an feature called EdgePeek specifically to address this.
Positional Tracking: Make sure Geometry 3D is enabled (should be per default).
Big judder: Skyrim is a very taxing game. Outside It usually runs well below the 60fps that you need for fluent VR when Geometry 3D, nothing vorpX can do about that. Try lowering details, deinstalling mods etc. Also Z-Buffer 3D might be worth a try (twice as fast, but ‘less’ 3D). Does not have positional tracking though.
