I had Dayz working with Vorpx a wee while ago, but I suspect because it now launches either a BattleEye version or steam that Vorpx watcher no longer sees it.

Is there any way to force Vorpx to map certain exe’s to certain games?

When you’re talking about Rise of Flight working with Vorpx, are you getting it to work in stereoscopic 3D or just to show up properly in 2D in the Rift. I can only get the latter working, but I really miss stereoscopy (I used to play RoF on my 3D monitor with a helix mod for ndivida 3D vision and it was working brilliantly). I’ve tried the standard tricks of changing the rof.exe name to udk.exe or arma2.exe and others, but that just results in a crash to desktop.

    Updated the list:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LTkVviKrkXOJ8Lj8xyDWGqxisgUV6WZpmDhm3y9N52E/edit?usp=sharing

So people will update that with games that have geometry 3D and DK2, sounds like a good idea.

Every information you can give would be great (which DK, what modes work, how you got it working if it didn’t hook automatically – like renaming to Arma2.exe for example).
I’ll just put in what I find in the forums and in here, however only I can edit since I don’t want to risk any troll deleting editing stuff – no offense, but it was a lot of work to put that list together even if I was bored ;)

It’s just an overview and in no way a garantue that it actually works on your computer, vorpX is still beta and moody ;)

oh right so you can force vorpx to inject then? do you just change the exe name in windows, I would like to try deus ex 1 and gears of war 1, both those games never injected, but am I right in saying if I change the gears of war exe to armaII exe vorpx will inject?

Yeah any game that you rename to arma2.exe will hook vorpx to believe it’s the real game. Also try UDK.exe, both will hook and work even in geometry 3d, and pls keep us updated of the results.

I was hoping we could build a sort of unofficial centralized list of games not officially supported but still allow for stereo 3d whether that be z3d or geometry3d. I am not talking about games that run but only in 2d. lets be some good beta testers and post our results.

So I will start with one.

    Singularity:
It is Bioshock like FPS game. It runs in geometry3d and z3d. The default FOV is way too low and the ini files are not configurable however you can fix the FOV with a 3rd party program called Flawless Widescreen. The default headtracking too sensitive. Turning it down all the way in the game’s menu helps but that makes a gamepad impossible to use. If you want to use a gamepad just turn down the headtracking sensitivity in the Vorpx menu till it feals right with your in game sensitivity options. Takes some trial and error but you can get it perfect. Game runs smooth as butter and with no judder in z3d max settings with a gtx 970. Some judder in geo3d but im sure that can be worked out I just haven’t tried as it looks and feels fantastic already.

I tried Singularity on Steam and Vorpx hooked it but didn’t recognize the game so no 3d at all, did you do something to make it work?

Great idea! I love Singularity and never got to finish it, so this is great news for me. I recently posted this so I will repost it since I think it applies here:

I recently tested Homefront and it works really well just by changing the main exe for Arma2.exe . There are a few issues with shadows, but I haven’t tweaked much with the config so maybe it can be improved.
I’ve also tried a few more with this trick, call of cathulhu dcoe almost works but crashes when going in game, Timeshift works decently but the 3d effect is lacking and there are shadows issues, still it works really well in z3d but it freezes after trying to apply any config options and also after a few minutes while progressing ingame. Hard Reset seems to miss the headtracking for some reason.

In any case, if you have some game that wanna try in 3d, try the exe and see what it happens.

Okay peeps.. I have a problema here. Maybe someone can help me out. So I can launch Arma 2 on the rift perfectly fine but when I get in game, I cant use the mouse to click on anything . All I see is the VorpX cursor but i can’t use that to click on stuff in Arma. I also don’t have an Xbox 360 controller plugged in so that can’t be the problem. The only thing I can do is use my arrow keys to navigate the main menu and my space bar to select things. When I go into the editor.. no cursor and I can’t place down units or anything. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how the heck did you fix it?

Just purchased Vorpx about an hour ago. I haven’t been able to get any games working with Vorpx and I’ve disabled all DirectX programs, disabled Steam overlay, etc. I have my Rift in Extended Mode, and I have set it to my primary display. I am using an nvidia 780 ti and an i7, so my hardware is good. The main game I am trying to get working is Skyrim. I’ve tried Arma 3 and not getting anything there either. I am using a DK2. My DK2 is functional since I can run demos from Oculus Share just fine.

The update did it! Opentrack works!
Thank you very much for your help and your time!

Arma 3 still has some problems, still very zoomed in and the 2 screens arent syncronized, but thats ok.
Ill wait for the VorpX update

ps. Would be nice if they put in the README of OpenTrack the minimum required version :P

Be sure to use the latest version of OpenTrack which has support for the Rift (DK2 !!!).

use the latest one (changed 3 days ago).

After you’ve done that, the OpenTrack should access the O-Rift DK2 no matter the mode (Extended/direct both work fine) and you should get a “Raw” readout.

To access this raw data in other programs or games, make sure you have a protocol set (like FreeTrack / TrackIR) and you click the Mapping button in the bottom right corner of the programme… You have to make curves or lines yourself there, the default is a “Flat on 0” ‘curve’ which means it doesn’t actually output any data.

    Program with rift tracker:

Mapping Options (do this for each axis):

    Hope that helps :)
Pro tip: If you feel like playing a game of DayZ/Arma with headtracking without going blind, put on a cap and put the rift on your forehead.. then play the game via normal monitor :p

    Interesting, thanks for explaining :)
I have a whole ton of hours in Arma 2 too, mainly due to DayZ.

The main drawbacks to the Oculus in general for VR are currently the screen door effect and the 60 FPS-dependency … if you drop below that you will definitely notice it.

VorpX didn’t work well in any game that I personally tried so far… But its very well possible that I just expected the experience to be… different.
I’m now trying to build me a headtracker from an arduino nano v3 and MPU6050 so I can play arma with headtracking without oculus :P

    But but I have 100+ hours on Arma2 ! : /

    Haha xD

I need to research the possibilities to play Arma 3/VBS 3 with a full Virtual Reality experience (VBS being a Professional version of Arma 3). I use the Oculus and some other VR devices for it and didnt get the Oculus to work with Arma at first. I am just interested in when the “final” Arma 3 VorpX version comes :P

Thanks for the reactions so far!

No, this is not Arma3. This is a problem with all my games I try to play. You know how the desktop looks way too zoomed in and messy in the rift dk2 when it is in extended mode? This is exactly how all my games look. It looks like it is trying to merge the screens, but it can’t and it is too zoomed in.

Ralph, I have tried all those suggestions. I have tried every single possible setting that is in the documents….any more suggestions, please?

Does no one else have or experienced this problem???

Does anyone think it maybe could be to do with my monitor being a 55inch 3DTV? Has that got to do with anything? (The normal dk2 demos all work in direct and extended)

I have followed all of the steps within the vorpx DK2 setup guide but I can load up some games such as Arma 2 and Battlefield 4 into the rift but in game menus and within the actual game itself when playing all I can see is a large screen projected on the rift, I am wondering how I am supposed to make this large centered screen into the two sterioscopic video outputs for each eye within the rift. Headtracking and everything is working well its just an alteration in the video output that I need. I have followed all the instruction provided and surfed on forums but no success. If anybody has the answer or can help me it would be very much appreciated. Many Thanks. Berrers :)

But Vincent, you already finished your Internship – and didn’t even touch the Arma2 I gifted you on steam ages ago! (JK, just to entertain myself as my buddy’s name’s Vincent)

Why do you need stereoscopic Arma3 for an internship…?
Also – the 3D will work as soon as “that bug” Ralf mentioned is fixed. VorpX doesn’t hook properly into Arma3, so all the fancy shader stuff isn’t working.
Once it hooks the right parts of the game again everything should work smooth(er).
