Full graphics means nothing without the resolution you’re running at, but you should probably be getting better than 30-40 fps to begin with. I’d suggest deleting or renaming the arma 3 config file in your documents folder and resetting everything. I had to do that, and disable my second monitor to get it to use my primary monitor. The game’s optimization algorithms are kind of stupid.

    Hi Team,

I’m finding that I am getting rubbish performance in ARMA 3 using Vorpx and I’m hoping someone can help me please.

I have an MSI laptop with am i7 7700 2.8GHz, 16GB RAM and a Gtx 1060 graphics card. I can run ARMA 3 on full graphics and get 30-40 fps no problems when using standard, however when I am using Vorpx and my Oculus Rift S (even with graphics settings put down to the lowest) I am down to 4-7 fps and the game is un-playable.

Are my systems specs too low or can I adjust settings to get better performance?

    Thanks,

    Jas

I am entirely lost at this point. For two days now I have tried everything to get Vorpx to hook to any game I own, and nothing is happening. I have disabled my AV, removed all overlays from anything that could possibly run, manually changed graphics settings for certain games, reinstalled Vorpx, restarted my computer, and tried running everything in every order possible. All that happens, though, is the game runs as normal without Vorpx ever hooking to it.

What really confuses me about this is the fact that it is so sudden. Not only will it not work on games I haven’t tried Vorpx with before, like RDR2 and Bannerlord, but also with games like Arma 3 and Verdun/Tannenberg that have worked before. Even IL-2 1946, which I played in Vorpx only two weeks ago, doesn’t work!

Please help. Like I said, this is a brand new issue, and I have used and loved Vorpx for over a year. No idea what caused this to start now.

    Hi everyone,

I recently bought VorpX and I am quite happy with it’s capabilities so far. I tried one of my favorite games, ARMA3, which works well using mouse and keyboard. Nevertheless there are two things I can’t stop thinking about:

    1. Using Motion Controllers (i.e Oculus Touch) for aiming: I know this has been discussed a couple of times in this forum and this feature has been deprioritized because for most of the FPS looking and aiming is not decoupled. But not for ARMA 3 – Looking and aiming are already two different types of control so I figured it should be possble, or am I wrong? Is there any update when this feature is on the roadmap

    2. Use Positional Tracking to change stances/leaning: Maybe it is already possible and I just haven’t found the correct setting, but it would be cool if the positional tracking could be connected to the stance/leaning system of Arma 3. I have in mind that in TrackIR/OpenTrack it was possbile but I am not entirely sure. Would appreciate if anybody has some advice how to set this up.

If those two things would be implemented, ARMA3 would come pretty close to a native VR game with full controller support.

    Curious to hear your opinion.

    Cheers.

Vorpx now has a built in Opentrack so the problem with arma3 goes away. You just need to leave headtracking on but turn the sensitivity way, way down and you get the best of both worlds. Sometimes I think having a button to switch between Immersive mode and Full VR mode would be handy though (ie using Mobiglass in Star Citizen) but I’m pretty sure Edgepeek probably does (most of) the same job.

    Hi @Ralf & @Smoils,
    I see your points.
I’m an Arma3 player. Predominantly using mounted guns on vehicles that have a single pivot point.
I’m looking at what smoils has said, and this would help me too:
Remapping the left oculus controller trigger button, this would hard aim on the weapons sights as well as deactivate the Head TrackIR. Therefore so long as I am aiming (holding aim button), the crosshair will go to wherever I turn my head. When I release the aim button, I am back to freelook around the gun. This would simulate the gun a lot better and allow real life gun stocks to be built etc.
    Hopefully that makes sense?

    Hi,

I have an issue with getting ArmA 3 to run with Vorpx.

I have a fresh install of ArmA3 which works perfectly well on my monitor.

The issue is when I try to run using Vorpx the ArmA 3 launcher opens fine, I start the game which shows the normal ArmA 3 loading screen, the Vorpx ‘Hooking .exe’ as it should, the Oculus view switches from the normal menu screen to the ArmA 3 loading window but then the game closes and I’m back to Desktop (on my monitor) and Menu screen in Oculus.

There are no errors popping up, I have checked the ArmA logs (no errors).

I have Runtime Switcher set to opencomposite but have also tried it set to SteamVR (same result).

In Configure Vorpx I have tried resetting the ArmA III profile back to default (even though I didn’t edit it) and also tried restoring the game setting but the list is empty.

    Any ideas?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Cheers

I tried several different things yesterday:
    – virus scanner, afterburner etc. deactivated
    – Vorpx factory reset
    – downloaded the far cry 4 (vorpx) profile
    – Far cry 3 +4 windowed mode

Unfortunately without success. With Far Cry 3 +4 it takes a long time with vorpx until the main menu appears. With Far Cry 4 I gave up after 20 minutes. Far Cry 3 quits immediately when a save game is loaded. @ vintager: I don’t have the steam version. I have to start it through Ubisoft Connect.
I didn’t tried to set the refresh rate to 0 (have forgot it). I will try that this evening.
Then I have to play Arma 3. That works perfectly.

For better image quality you have to raise the game’s resolution not the Oculus resolution. For FullVR games a 4:3 resolution like 1920×1440 is a good choice. If your PC does not support this resolution, check the Custom Resolution section in the vorpX help. It contains a step-by-step guide regarding adding custom resolutions.

FOV is handled by adjusting some values in the game’s ini files. If that fails, please check whether you maybe have forbidden apps to access your documents folder (e.g. in the Windows options). The game stores its .ini files below the documents folder.

Decoupling the camera from the walking direction is out of vorpX’s scope. That’s something that has to be supported by a game, one (rare) example would be Arma III with TrackIR tracking.

after waiting for about 8 minutes (Far Cry 3 logo on screen, Hook Helper apears and Í selected “do nothing”) the loading screen came up. When I selected Continue from the main menu, I ended up back in Steam Home. I can play Kingdome Come, Crysis 3, Arma 3 and various other games without any problems. So I can hardly imagine that my AV software is the reason. Nevertheless, I will try to disable the AV software.
Very sad because I played mainly Far Cry 3.
@Ralf: I will try the Far Cry 4 profile when I get a chance.

first of all, merry christmas to all.
I don’t know exactly if the problem is with me but since the latest vorpx update Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 no longer works. The games do not start when vorpx is active. Works fine without vorpx. Maybe it’s also because of my new HP Reverb G2.
I always played with the Pimax 8k+ before. A few weeks ago everything still worked. Kingdome Come, F1 2019 and ARMA 3 work fine.
I would also like to thank Ralf for the great piece of software. I have been using vorpx since the DK2 time. Was the best purchase I have ever made

    Hello,

I seen some topics on my search in regards to independent movement of the head vs gun. Some was saying this can only be done in ARMA III. (topics from like 2019)

Is there a tutorial on how this can be done? I saw mentions of like track IR etc.

And what’s the latest on this? I initially tried to play Far Cry 5, which had both head and gun combined. (I though because of imported profile).

Then I tried Crysis 3, with same results.

Is there any workarounds, did anyone manage to get the head and gun move independently, or better even, bind the gun to the hand controllers (I`m using Reverb G2). I found a demo that came with the WMR app, I think it was Halo or something, that had the guns binded to the controller – that was very impressive.

    Thanks for the reply Ralf.

For ARMA 3, please can you confirm I am doing the following correctly:

    1. On PC, open Oculus, configure Vorpx to use Oculus and ARMA 3 profile, start Vorpx
    2. Switch on Quest 2, connect via USB link, launch Oculus Link
    3. In headset, open Desktop and open steam
    4. Launch ARMA 3

These are the steps I have taken. A window confirms Vorpx is connecting to the exe.

I will check about Battle Eye. When I first started the game before attempting to use Vorpx I don’t remember enabling it.

I am connecting a Quest using Oculus link. Start Vorpx from desktop, then select “Vorpx desktop” from task bar menu. This opens a new taskbar window, then many lots and lots start opening and flashing on taskbar, 100 CPU, reboot.

I cannot get Vorpx to work with Arma 3.
Started ARMA 3 via steam, window states Vorpx is connecting to the .exe, then nothing.

So far my experience with this software has been awful.

I have followed all the guidelines in the Quick Reference.
I have no anti virus running except Windows Defender.
    No other overlay processes running.

Any help, suggestions would be appreciated.
