In reply to: Bioshock original CRASHES only with vorpx
BoblekoboldParticipantHello, thanks for your answer.
You said “Don’t Optimize game settings”… Do you mean to turn off “change game settings” in vorpx ?
There is a checkbox “Don’t Optimize game settings” in VorpX configuration.
And yes, VorpX change Bioshock 1 and Infinite settings each time you launch it. So my solution was to configure ini files, zip them, and unzip them before each launch.
You need to configure ini files to change resolution and at least FOV.
IT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO CHANGE FOV if you want the right zoom/scale. I explain how here :
in my post “May 26, 2024 at 1:08am”
It’s the same thing for Bioshock 1&2. It’s easier with Infinite ini files.You said “I play with 3840×2880″… I suppose it depends on your monitor right ?, mine is up to 1920×1200
It doesn’t depend on your monitor.
Only once :
– Install VorpX Beta.
– Add Predefined resolutions above 4k in VorpX config (“Virtual Monitor” tab)Every time :
1) Launch VorpX Desktop Viewer
and (you can switch order)
1) Unzip or replace your Bioshock ini files
2) launch the game (make sure you hook, you can create a direct VorpX Desktop Shortcut, you can exclude Launchers, etc.)
3) If needed (each time you load a new level for example), change the resolution to 3840×2880This way, the game won’t be blurry at all (at least on a displayport headset, without compression).
After that, you unzoom to the border of your view, and you choose a FOV you’ll keep in your ini files (105-110 is great in Reverb G2).
This way, you get a native-like experience, like if you really were in the game.
May 26, 2024 at 2:09am #219769In reply to: Vorpx Minimal Windows version
BoblekoboldParticipantNever had a crash on Win10 with Bioshock 1 original (and Infinite) with VorpX. I played with a reverb G2 and it was perfect (OpenXR runtime).
I didn’t crash on Win11 but I only played a few minutes.
With Varjo Aero, I was forced to use SteamVR runtime, and It freeze for a second sometimes (but maybe it’s just me), so I use a G2 again.
I have only a few crashes on Bioshock 2 on Win11 (1 per 5 hours I would say), but I had to do this :
You should switch between two savegames, because if it crashes during the save process, you may have to remove the last savegame from directory (or the game will crash at launch).

BoblekoboldParticipant(If you don’t know Bioshock at all, you should start by Bioshock 1, then 2, then Infinite, then Burial at Sea Ep1&2 to avoid spoilers…but if you know them, it’s better in the order I indicated).

in forum Technical Support
BoblekoboldParticipantI’m playing Bioshock 2 (original) and it’s amazing in VR, but I would like to know if it’s possible to move HUD ?
It’s almot perfect but I would like to move it just a little, like in Bioshock 1 (original) & Infinite.
Apart from that, everything is fine. I had some crashes I fixed (mostly) :
May 26, 2024 at 1:14am #219766In reply to: Bioshock 2 (Fixed crash)
BoblekoboldParticipantI would recommand to play :
1) Bioshock infinite
2) Then Burial at Sea Ep1&2
3) Then Bioshock
4) Then Bioshock 2
5) (Then Minerva’s Den)This way you :
– respect the story chronology
– graphics gets better over time (because Bioshock 2 is the best, and Infinite the worse, except Burial at Sea Ep2 wich is really stunning).
– gameplay gets better and more complex (Bioshock 2 > Bioshock 1 > Bioshock Infinite)
– it gets harder to configure ‘^^These 3 games are some of the best VR games you can do, in my opinion. It worth it even if you already know them (you can use Silvermod for Bioshock 1 original, custom ini mods for Bioshock 2 to raise or change difficulty). I can explain how to edit Bioshock 2 ini files if you need to.
Don’t forget to use a very high 4:3 resolution like 3840×2880, to unzoom to the border of your view and to raise FOV until you get a perfect native-like experience.
May 26, 2024 at 1:08am #219765In reply to: Bioshock 2 (Fixed crash)
BoblekoboldParticipantI’m playing the original one (lightings are better and I use mods to increase difficulty).
I had no crash at all with Bioshock 1 (with Silvermod).
With Bioshock 2, the game crash 1 time per 5 hours I would say. I would recommand swithing between too savegames because it can get corrupted and you may need to remove it from directory (it’s very rare).
Finally, I use :
TextureStreamingMemoryLimit=128.000000It’s impossible to reach max graphics using game menu. You must edit Bioshock2SP.ini :
DynamicShadowDetail=High
It seems to improve graphics significantly.I also replaced texture details options by UltraHigh in .ini files :
TextureDetailInterface=UltraHigh
TextureDetailTerrain=UltraHigh
TextureDetailWeaponSkin=UltraHigh
TextureDetailPlayerSkin=UltraHigh
TextureDetailWorld=UltraHigh
TextureDetailRenderMap=UltraHigh
TextureDetailLightmap=UltraHighI don’t know if it does anything.
To answer my own question, the best VorpX shadow parameter is :
G3D shadow : auto (it’s perfect this way)110 FOV with +0.1 camera high seems great to me on Reverb G2.
To change FOV, use something like that in User.ini :
Up=MoveForward|setFov 110
Down=MoveBackward|setFov 110This way you change FOV when you move. It can be useful because FOV change each time you aim. You can do a sniper mod by doing something like this :
MouseWheelDown=setFov 90
MouseWheelUp=setFov 50The same solution works for Bioshock 1.
It’s not necessary in infinite (but with this game you should raise font size with .ini).
I use “HT positional tracking : on” to have 6dof in Bioshock 2 (even if I play with keyboard&mouse). Beware Delta’s helmet (you may need to recenter sometimes).
I didn’t find the way to move HUD in Bioshock 2 (but it doesn’t bother me too much because I can see most important informations without edgepeek).

BoblekoboldParticipantIs it normal I can’t change HUD scale and position in Bioshock 2 ?
It works in Bioshock 1 and Infinite.Apr 17, 2024 at 12:22pm #219607In reply to: Best Games
BoblekoboldParticipantBioshock Infinite (especially Burial at Sea Episode 2) and Bioshock 1 original (I guess Bioshock 2 original is even better) if you have an old graphic card.
Metro 2033/Last Light, etc. are awesome (Metro Exodus is the most beautiful game you could do I think). But a good graphic card is needed.
All Bioshock and Metro have G3D (even if raytracing without G3D can be a good option too in Metro Exodus).
Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t the best because even with an RTX4090, it’s not enough.
Elden Ring, Death Stranding, Guardian of the galaxy are really better in VorpX (even if it’s not full VR).
Redfall too. Deathloop is Ok (especially the end).I guess games like Farcry Primal, Dishonored, Prey 2017, etc. must be really good (I think they have G3D but I didn’t try them yet).
Dying Light 1 of course.
First person game that allow you to have high 4:3 resolution (3480×2880 or at least 2880×2160) and 120 FOV are like native games in VorpX (with G3D, or at least Z3D but It’s not so important to me and even without 3D at all, some games are awesome in full VR).
Any game with good looking graphics, heights/vertigo or giant environment/ennemies are usually great in VorpX.
Aug 24, 2023 at 1:40pm #217276In reply to: Low FPS in Bioshock 2 Remastered
Disco MachineParticipantThanks I will give that a go later, Sylvan. The weird thing about B2 Remastered so far is that lowering everything both in-game and in Vorpx settings doesn’t seem to affect it at all, and my GPU/CPU aren’t really struggling whatsoever (they are low green in FPSVR). It’s like the game just decided to be 30-60 fps no matter what. Playing it in Z-normal puts it at a good 90fps right away, which is the same fps as I have set in Virtual Desktop. It’s a shame original B2 crashes because that one works perfectly before doing so.
I’ve had some more luck with Bioshock Infinite though. Seems to be working well enough, apart from some occasional stutters and the text being so small that I can barely make it out. Will have to test it some more though.
Jul 10, 2023 at 2:34am #216749In reply to: Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and DX12?
BoblekoboldParticipantIf I launch enhanced edition after setting DirectX11 in Metro graphics menu, it use the official profile, and G3D works, but I can’t access VorpX menu (it’s the first time I encounter that).
If I launch the old version of Metro Exodus as you suggest, I will have the menu ?
I never use DirectVR. Don’t know exactly how it works but the first game I tried was Bioshock Infinite, and DirectVR didn’t give me good results. By adjusting resolution, FOV, ini files, etc. I managed to have native-like VR experience (I noticed no difference with Subnautica Below Zero native), but It took me a while to understand.But after the first game, you understand you juste have to set high 4:3 resolution, image Zoom at the border of your FOV, game FOV at very large, Clarity FX, 3D parameters if possible, HUD if possible, head tracking speed if needed, and you get a very good experience in every game that allow you to modify these parameters.
VorpX has a mixed reputation, but it’s probably the best program i ever bought. Bioshock serie was incredible with it.
Metro Exodus is in my opinion one the best looking game (Moscou and Volga levels), so I would like to do it with Raytracing (my first try is already impressive in 4k with ultra graphics). But I’ll try both (because it’s true that G3D can be very impressive).
Metro let you choose FOV in ini file and HUD is minimalist so I just have the problem with resolution and Image Zoom (zoom is generaly too high for my headset in every game).

dleeParticipantLook up the list of FullVR games. It should be around the forum somewhere and it’s also available within Vorpx.
My favs are probably Dishonored, Bioshock Infinite and Dark Messiah. Dishonored has some problems though unfortunately.

CyberJParticipantHi folks,
Long time lurker here even longer user.
Ralf, you’re a genius and indeed the cause of me purchasing games I wouldn’t have even humored .. so thanks for that haha =)Anywho, ..
I have tried a plethora of profiles with the steam game Indutria and simply can not get any “3d depth” or “FOV” to work at all. There are a few profiles that give the geometry options but the FOV slider doesn’t change the image.I have read on reddit and YT that either Half-Life 2 or the Bioshock Infinite works but I couldn’t get HL2 to hook at all and Bioshock profile doesn’t exist anymore so no joy there.
I have also tried Control, Medieval Dynasty (or something like that), Get Even, A Hat in Time, Ace Combat, … well lets just say I have tried a few lol.Has anyone played this game at all and can help a poor guy out, no hair left to pull out.
Or anyone have an Unreal 4 profile I can try with ?I wouldn’t normally beg like this but I don’t really want to go through every profile (although I will if I have too lmao).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FrankHoriganParticipantOk,I now, Im special custommer :)
But its really interesting… I think, that you never saw it.OK i try kill any applications.
DX11 games work great. New now “Metro Exodus”, “Bioshock Infinite”.
May 1, 2022 at 2:25am #210822In reply to: Xbox controller support in Bioshock remastered
CrazyDolphinParticipantWhat I usually did was before using VorpX was starting up the game on flatscreen first, to where the default controls were usually mouse+keyboard. I would change controller settings from M+KB to gamepad (wireless Xbox 1 controller in my case). That usually kept me in controller mode when I would play from that point forward.
Usually, if I died (as I did a lot in just finishing Bioshock Infinite), I would often ‘invalid Direct VR settings’.
