Hi Ralf, i have a couple of questions about settings.
1) How can i change the sensitivity of the thumbsticks in gamepad emulation mode, so that the camera doesn’t turn so fast? I tried partial override option, but then the stick stops working. (Witcher 2)
2) Testing Crysis in Z3D, i set the resolution in VorpX ingame-menu to 2400p. It looks detailed enough, but the scale is off – everything around me looks too big. How can i fix this?
3) Is there a documentation about the settings in the VorpX ingame-menu? There’s so much settings (which i love), but almost half of them are cryptic to me. And that’s the reason i have to ask here. :)
If you are new to vorpX, you probably want to hop right into the action instead of learning how to configure vorpX. The list below contains first person games that work with litlle to no configuration in ‘Full VR’ due to vorpX’s DirectVR functionality, which can configure important things like field of view, head tracking or resolution automatically.
For third person games that are usually played best in immersive screen or cinema mode not much configuration is required in general, so this list focuses on first person ‘Full VR’ games that can be a little harder to configure without DirectVR.
If you are stuck, make sure to check the ‘Essential Hints Guide’ and the ‘Quick Reference’ in the help. They help you understand a few basic concepts.

Ralf, everything is awesome, runs perfect. I was just wanting to test something. The official profile for Prey (2017) only does z-normal and z-adaptive. The engine is CryEngine 4. I saw elsewhere on the forums where someone used a CryEngine 3 profile for a CryEngine 4 game with G3D. I attempted to change the name of prey.exe in order to attempt using the Crysis 3 game profile, but it won’t run if I do that. I was hoping I could ask if you could test out whether the Crysis 3 profile would hook with Prey 2017 and whether it would interpret the 3D. I’ve been playing Prey 2017 and its awesome, but the Z3D is strange for some upclose textures. Whenever you have the time or ability, I’d appreciate it. I’m sure you’re busy.
Topic: vorpX 18.3.2 Available Now
Update 2018/12/15
vorpX 18.3.2.2 has been released. This (hopefully) concludes the series of fixes related to issues with the most recent SteamVR version.
Changes/Fixes:
- Improvements for WMR headsets related to issues with most recent SteamVR.
- Fallout 76: FOV did not work since the game got official FOV change support.
- OpenVR updated to 1.1.3b
Update 2018/12/09
vorpX 18.3.2.1 has been released. This hotfix addresses the SteamVR head tracking swim/latency introduced with yesterday’s update. No other changes.
Update 2018/12/08
vorpX 18.3.2 has been released. This is a maintenance release mainly addressing frequent frame judder in SteamVR mode after the latest SteamVR update.
In addition to that some related changes originally intended for vorpX 19.1.0 have been backported to 18.3.2, most notably support for Motion Smoothing (SteamVR), respectively Asynchronous Space Warp (Oculus). vorpX 19.1.0 is still on track for a pre-Christmas release.
Changes/Fixes:
- SteamVR: Fix for frequent judder below 90fps with recent SteamVR versions.
- SteamVR/Oculus: Motion Smoothing/Asynchronous Space Warp support.
- SteamVR: Supersampling <1.0 is now taken into account (only important for Pimax 5k/8k).
- Oculus: Crystal Image setting takes user set super sampling into account.
- D3D11: several multithreading fixes and improvements
- The Witcher: better Geometry 3D profile, Z3D parameters tweaked
- The Witcher 2: G3D did not work anymore, Z3D parameters tweaked
- GTA V: scalable HUD added
Update 2018/11/15
vorpX 18.3.1 has been released. This is a maintenance release that mainly adds support for Fallout 76. The profile is a fully featured DirectVR profile with everything DirectVR can do in the best case including automatic resolution, FOV (two methods) and basic roomscale.
Additionally minor issues with the program itself and other profiles have been fixed.
In case anyone wonders: the Frostbite engine G3D support that sparked a bit of interest recently is still in development and will be made available with the next larger update 19.1.0 before the end of the year.
New profiles:
- Fallout 76: G3D/Z3D, full VR, DirectVR: head tracking, resolution, FOV, tweaks
Changes/Fixes
- Effects that look bad in VR (e.g. DOF blur) can also be disabled with Z3D.
- DirectVR scanner could time out with large scans in low memory situations.
- DirectVR menu page didn’t behave correctly if both memory scan FOV and .ini edit FOV are available.
- FOV scan was run despite .ini edit FOV being selected if both are available.
- Fixed an occasional G3D crash in Fallout 76 (and maybe other DX11 games).
- Arma III: DirectVR FOV was slightly too high.
- The Witcher 3: some objects were rendered at wrong depth.
- Crysis 3: reflections fixed, effect fixes.
- Fallout 4: minor gun decals and fire glitches fixed.
Update 2018/10/25
vorpX 18.3.0.1 has been released. This is a hotfix that addresses the issue below. No other changes.
- Black textures with Z3D in some D3D11 games (18.3.0 regression)
vorpX 18.3.0 released
After four maintenance releases for the 18.2 branch it’s finally time for a slightly bigger release with a bit of feature refinement and also more and enhanced game profiles. Most notable additions are: Dark Souls Remastered, Monster Hunter World, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.
Experienced users can now create much better custom profiles by defining HUD/shadow etc. shaders.

Hi Ralf,
Good job on Vorpx 17.3.0!
Works very nicely with Mass Effect Andromeda. (framerate is ~50 FPS with my R9 290, so I am still tweaking a bit to get it higher – already disabled Vsync)I just freshly installed Crysis 3 from Origin to try out this game in VR on my Oculus DK2.
I started a new game in recruit mode and skipped the training. (I am more a person for training on the job I guess:)
Seems Vorpx is correctly attaching to Crysis 3. Intro scenes are running fine in VRBut after the intro clip of helicopter flying to the dome, all I see is blackness in my headset and on my PC screen. I guess this is the point were the game really starts in 3D. I DO hear voices/action, so the game IS running.
I also added the custom resolution 1440 x 1080 in the AMD control panel, but that did not help. So I removed it again.
Also I seem to loose the mouse cursor repeatedly in Crysis 3 (in the menu structure of the game)
But maybe that is caused by the wired Xbox 360 gamepad I have connected. Its not the main issue, but maybe its related.I’m running a fully updated Windows 10 Pro with fairly recent AMD driver 17.11.1 (most stable one now for me)
I already emailed you the trouble shoot zipfile with all detail data.Additional info that is missing in the troubleshoot zip files:
I use RIFT software 1.20. (Not using the Core 2.0 beta, too unstable)Thanks for your help!
Best Regards,
BluepillTopic: Running Cry Engine
Hi,
I’ve just got the Oculus and vorpX.
I have developed a simulator in Cry Engine 3. I was very pleased to find that vorpX works in Cry Engine 3 Sandbox game mode, something that wasn’t certain. Using Oculus Rift in my simulator will be amazing! Particularly useful for aerial combat, where I should be able to turn my head to track aircraft targets.I did notice one odd thing, though. When in an aircraft cockpit, if I turned my head the view turned correctly – but it also moved the control yokes. It seems that turning my head also changes the mouse x,y values. I hope vorpX doesn’t control head turning by actually changing the mouse x,y values, that would make it impossible to use the mouse for other functions. Is there a solution for this?
I have a *big* problem with my glasses. For now I’m using Oculus without my glasses, but it’s very blurred and I can’t read text. I need to reduce the head turning gain. If I press Del the vorpX menu appears, but I can’t read it. For now, is it possible to change the vorpX game settings on the main computer screen?
One other problem. Crysis 2 works, but not Crysis. If vorpX is active, Crysis fails to load after just a few seconds. The error message is:
“Crysis has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.”
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? I’m running Windows 10.
Many thanks,
ChrisTopic: FEAR 2
Hi,
I’ve got a massive problem; I don’t know how many games run slowly, but these I tried:
Crysis 2: runs smoothly
FEAR 1: runs smoothly (for the most part)
Mirrors Edge: runs smoothly (for the most part)Today I tried F.e.a.r. 2 and I only get 20-25 FPS!? o_O
I got an i7 4770K and a MSI 1080Ti GamingX(!) So in older games like Fear1, 2 or Mirror Edge, I should get way over 60FPS!
The CPU isn’t really used in most games, but even the GPU sits around at 30% in Fear2!!I’ve already tried every tip in your “Basic Trouble Shooting” topic, but that didn’t help :-\
I also loaded the nVidia profile defaults, didn’t work either…Please help!
thx,
dlderTopic: Crysis 2
Hi there,
I’ve just bought VorpX and am a bit puzzled… VorpX doesn’t integrate into SteamVR (like Revive), right? But as long as VorpX is running, it should detect me starting Crysis 2 (Origin)!?
Well, not that it’s a problem, but I had to make a Desktop shortcut for VorpX to activate; which it does!BUT, it only works in “2D”! When I activate the ingame SideBySide it only shows two screens, not Crysis in 3D!!
I even tried my 3DVision2 monitor and activating 3D in nVidia/Windows, but that didn’t work…I also tried running the game in “-dx9” which doesn’t help either!
What’s going on; what am I doing wrong??
Thank in advance!
hello,
outlast 2 and prey 2017 are not working at all with vorpx.
previously we could try to copy present profiles and link the game exe and try it in vorpx to see if it works and most of the time it worked.
but with those 2 games, it’s not luck, maybe because they are X64 exe ?
or maybe it’s because the steamapi is steam_api64.dll and not steam_api.dll ?prey hook using crysis 3 profile but the game crash right before the menu.
outlast 2 hook with some profile but Z3D buffer let alone G3D buffer doesnt work at all.
i’d like to know if a new update of vorpx could make those games works, that would be incredible.
thank you.
