I just got this program, works great with a few games I’ve tried, but it won’t work for a lot of others that are supported like RE7, Halo MCC, and The Long Dark.

I’ve tried turning off all antivirus programs, restarting each game, and turning on “Use Alternative hooking method” and “Run vorpx control as administrator” and still not attaching.

I’ve also tried running a game that does attach then run another game and nothing.

There has to be something I’m missing but most people’s problems stem from AV programs, which I disabled mine completely.

    Help please?

    Hey everyone,

So made a thread earlier in 2020 when lockdown started happening trying to get ideas for good games to play via Vorpx during the last year and wanted to make a new recommendation thread, if anyone was interested in posting their best Vorpx experiences.

My last thread I mentioned my favorite, before 2020, being modded 1st person Sekiro, 1st person Dark Souls 3, 1st Person Mass Effect Andromeda

So I didnt get to do as much Vorpx gaming in 2020 as I would have liked, but I would like to point out some great experiences I had in Vorpx in 2020

    So for new recommendations:

Resident Evil 7 – even with Z-Adaptive, not Geo3d. There were some issues with gun ghosting and shadows in Geo 3d for me, but Z-Adaptive didnt have those at all.

Seriously – if you were kinda bored with RE, I was too, but… this game is just a goddamn treasure and should be experienced by -ANYONE- with Vorpx. You can find it for like 8 bucks on Keys sites.

Metro Exodus was pretty fantastic as well, was happy with the direction that game took with the open world FPS design and surprised me with how well it ran in Vorpx.

Titanfall 2 – Ran incredibly smooth and just a great campaign in VR

On a more difficult recommendation, got Dark souls 2 to work in 1st person VR with Cheat Engine. That was a fun one, you could find the instructions online if you wanted to – but Id Recommend Sekiro or Dark Souls 3 before it, much easier to get up and running.

So anyone have any games they thought were particularly good to experience they want to point out in the last few months/year?

Thanks for your time and take care

Im sorry i didnt find anything regarding this. Ive been trying get the Hellblade profile hooking with Amid Evil since both are Unreal Engine 4.
    What steps are necessary here?
Id love to play Amid Evil in VR so much!

Also theres a darkplaces (Quake 1) profile that hooks but leaves my headset black. Id also really would like to play my heavily modded Quake and Quake 1.5 in Vorpx. Quake is my absolute favorite and Quakespasm VR isnt as atmospheric as Darkplaces. Would also prefer to use mouse and keyboard to stay fast.
Hope anyone might know something regarding this also.

    Phoning Home (G3D)

Doesnt look like people have much notice of my game requester, so i kept on making profiles for my own games a while ago.

This game has a quite dark graphics ouput so i turned up gamma to +2. There was no other way to get an acceptable amount of light into VR. But finally the game is looking nice, almost perfect shadows.

    – Optimized for Cinema Modes
    – Scalable HUD
    – Profile available at the cloud

Very interesting and enlightening discussion. Thanks, Ralf, for that insight.

For what it’s worth, I played through entire Doom 2016 with just desktop vorpx and had a blast. Yes, it wasn’t 3D, but having a dark movie screen in front of you with headphone spatial sound still was a treat. And because it wasn’t geometry, it was smooth as butter.

For some reason, whenever I try to tab out of Dark Souls III when using VorpX and SteamVR, whenever I go to tab back in it infinitely displays the “Waiting for Dark Souls III…” thing that SteamVR does for games. This has only happened using VorpX and no other VR game has caused this for me. How do I fix this issue

Vr games have different solution for people who cant stomach some things, one of popular and effective (based on things Ive read from people) is vignette – reducing player fov with darkness making it like a tunnel vision.

Ive also had people using vorpx share they couldnt play some games with always run on since flat games dont consider player speed at all.

Now I’m not asking to have this right away nor have any issues or need of that myself, but I thought its a simple enough thing that has proven itself to be quite effective for some people.

Basically as I see it – just an overlay (strength of which can be adjusted in settings) that adds dark circle over a screen vorpx renders when player touches left stick or WASD (probably should be adjustable too)

Sounds as if something is really off on your system, SteamVR having wrong colors also doesn’t really sound right. you can be sure that if issues like that would be some general problem, you’d see quite a few more posts like yours here. If ‘wrong colors’ means the image is too dark/bright, you can change that in the vorpX menu on the image page.

If you happen to have a HDR capable monitor, please make sure that HDR is off in the Windows display settings. No current VR headset is HDR capable, so using Windows in HDR mode may lead to wrong colors.

The error you see in Oculus mode is returned by the Oculus runtime when vorpX tries to initialize the headset. Apparently the runtime checks the digital signature of the main runtime component, which for some reason fails on your machine. That’s not something vorpX does, it happens entirely within the Oculus runtime, vorpX just shows the error it gets back from the Oculus runtime. So all I can really suggest here is reinstalling the Oculus software since the error message suggests that the Oculus runtime is broken.

Apart from that please also do a full vorpX factory reset in the vorpX config app (trouble shooting page).

Last, but not least: If you happen to run vorpX, Steam, or any of the games you tried in some sort of compatibility mode (e.g. Windows XP), make sure to revert that.

    Thank you for your reply

    Few test more
Rocket league – default – working
    RE 3 – DX 11 – default – working (3d geometric)
    RE 3 – DX 12 – default – working (3d geometric)
Control – default – oculus runtime error (i do not even know if it is compatible)

    – Is possible that Oculus quest 2 controllers interfere with vorpX? (From myself I have activated link using hand tracking, and then launch everything using mouse)

    – I have closed DS4 controller till game is launched. Just in case.

    – The game was launched in the past with too much quality so headset has problem loading game? i have decreased quality from pc version before launch as VR.

    – The game had enabled HDR and might have some problem launching game? I have set all to normal.

    – I have alternated between DX11 – DX12 and test.

I already did a full vorpX factory reset before I opened this threat and tested everything.

After all these test, I do not think anything is off from my side. I have reinstalled oculus just in case, and did as above, and now:

RE 7 – working using default on Steam mode (colors were changed because of HDR I think)
RE 2 – it just works if I disable “try to block known game overlays” on steam mode. This time the vorpX menu is working and 3D geometric is enabled. (something that I did above fixed it)

So far I was able to sort out the issues, HOWEVER, this is not nice. I had to try a lot of configurations and modes, AND as I said above, if I use others configurations game will not work even all I did. So something is not working on the app.
If you say still is my computer, I think you should know where the issue is. I do not think I am the only person who gets error from oculus quest 2, is just, probably we are not playing same games on vorpX using oculus quest 2 as it seems it depends about the game.

Oculus runtime error still there after all these checks.

Quest via Oculus Link should work just fine normally. If you encounter similar hooking issues with multiple game, please check the section about conflicting programs in the pinned trouble shooting guide.

Not sure whether the RE7 demo will work, only the full version has been tested.

I have reviewed all my windows programs and process again and chaged somethings. The result is similar. I have tried all checkboxes posibilities.

RE 7 – default options – closes window
RE 7 – alternative method checkbox. closes
RE 7 – “Try to block know games overlays” checkbox unchecked. As cinema without 3D and without vorpX menu so I cannot change anything.

    NEW:

Cyberpunk 2077 – default options – perfectly working

RE 7 & RE 2 – with some checkboxes on/off it says : Oculus runtime init failed. vorpX will not work correcly. Try to restart the Oculus software or your PC. Switching vorpX o SteamVR mode may help in some cases. Oculus runtime error: LibOVRRT signature check failure. (-3021)

RE 7 – SteamVR mode on VORPX – not working
RE 7 – SteamVR mode on VORPX – disable try to block know game overlays – working, but colors are wrong. I cannot see almost nothing, is very black and dark orange.

    Thanks Raif!

I wasn’t able to test it on every hotfix, but after the most recent I’ve tried Remnant: From the Ashes and Dark Souls III. VoiceAttack wouldn’t work in either. My Xbox controller (Bluetooth connection) works fine for Remnant. When I try it with Dark Souls III, though, nothing. If I hit Del on the keyboard, I can use the gamepad to navigate the VorpX menu (and make sure that the Oculus Touch controllers are disabled), but when I close the VorpX menu, Dark Souls III stops accepting any inputs at all from anything and I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL my way out.

    Hi,
I just bought a G2 VR Headset and am waiting for my 3080 to arrive next week.
I figured I would look into VorpX and how useful it is.
I don’t mind purchasing it if it works, but from what I hear zbuffer isn’t substantially better way to play games compared to normal Monitor. So my questions are just about the G3D games.

    1) Is the list of supported Stereo 3D upto date? I am guessing Stereo 3D is Geometry 3D? I am asking because someone posted another list of games that were G3D and had games like Witcher 3 in there, which are not present on the supported Stereo 3D list. And games like Darksiders 3 are on the Stereo 3D, but not listed by that post.

    Geometry VR Game List.

    2) I know that we can mess around and get some degree of 3D work, but I would rather know more about the games that definitely work which would factor into my decision to purchase.

    3) There is a dearth of arcade racing games in VR. I do like the Need for Speed series, and though I haven’t played it for years, I still have bought some of the new ones and I own a racing wheel. Are there any recent NFS games supported with G3D that are not on either list? Are there player profiles that would be considered almost as good as official? Even if I have to play in Third person view instead of indoor view.

    4) Is enabling G3D going to cause a significant performance hit? Playing games @ 100% in SteamVR ends up with a resolution of about 4k each eye, which is already very resource intensive. I am hoping that after turning some settings down, I will be able to hit 6k @ 90 FPS in some of the older games (4 years+) with an RTX 3080. Any experiences with a similar setup would be appreciated.

    5) Do any DLSS games work well in G3D? Just curious. I guess I am mainly curious about Control. Cyberpunk 2077, I would play on flat screen for now.

I really do like the idea of playing normal games with head tracking in proper Stereo 3D and normal keyboard/mouse controls. Just hoping there is support for enough games I like that I can take the plunge.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Good, you should make everything for worst case scenario anyways. I did have AV mess with vorpx hooking before because I didnt put it in exclusions for one particular system, while having it everywhere else and “disabling protection” button didnt even matter for that system.

It was driving me crazy since av let vorpx hook 1st time and then sometimes rarely when it av wasnt fast enough to stop it, while blocking all other attempts unless using inject dlls, but for image saving Ive tried everything i could think of and could google for the matter, not worth going crazy about it since I dont really use environments mostly anyway. Ambient and dark void are much better.

I had some minor issues with portal 2 as well but trying windowed, hook helpers and alt hooking eventually got it to work, Ive played games like g-string that is based oh source engine too it all works eventually.

But trying hl2 mods as mods, that are not standalone games just refuses to hook no matter what.

Specifically in question are smod (including standalone, which is still using hl mod structure to run, not like portal 2 or gstring or dark messiah which all work) and mmod, none of those worked no matter what combination of things I have tried, even launching hl2.exe directly with parameters to start a mod didnt hook. Launching same hl2.exe vanilla hooks and works in 3d.

Every successful source game that I have tried has vorpx hook from start, when into videos appear, with mods that refuse to work hooking message appears only in main menu and fails eventually.
