Just wanted to throw in my vote. Playing Dishonored 2 in VR could be mesmerizing.

Dishonored 2 would be great. The first one was fantastic with VorpX, a profile for the second one would be highly appreciated

Is Dishonored 2 in the possible? I haven’t seen anyone else mention getting it to work. I’m waiting for a VR profile to play it and its burning a whole in my HD just sitting there ready to go!

Something is very wrong on my end with Deus Ex Human Revolution + vorpx, especially, when using DX11. I’ve tried both versions. With DX11 enabled, framerates are abysmal, similar to yours with G3D, Z3D, even 3D off. I was messing with it last night. Setting it to DX9 yielded better framerates, but it didn’t seem like ATW was working. Lots of stutter when looking around when framerates drop below 90fps. Other titles, for example, still have buttery smooth headtracking even at 30fps, so it leads me to believe something is wrong with timewarp – either the oculus SDK or vorpx’s version. Also, for one of the games, the Z3D modes defaulted to 0.00 3D strength. When raising this setting, it seemed to alter IPD instead of 3D separation. Also, CPU usage was @ 100%. Weird stuff going on that I think is game specific.

Dishonored, on the other hand runs very well on my system. In most cases, framerates are high enough not to notice issues. I see drops when there are a lot of AI wandering about the larger outdoor areas. In those cases, I switch to Z3D for a spell. The Hound Pits pub is notorious for lower fps, though.

If you’re brave you could try the Console Commands
    http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/Console_Commands

There’s a command for eye sight height ‘SetEyeHeight [Value]’ that might be worth looking into. Haven’t tried Bioshock Infinite yet, I’m slooowly making my way through Dishonored. Game looks and plays amazing!

I haven’t been able to make use of such commands. There’s no way I can discern to open the debug console in Bioshock Infinite so I suspect it may have been removed at compile time.

I’ve tried to modify the key bindings to associate some commands such as “SetEyeHeight 25.0”, “SetFOV” and “ToggleHUD” to unused keys but they didn’t take effect which was a shame.

I’ve resorted to raising the pneumatic cylinder on my chair and sitting up straight as the VorpX camera height modify introduces some rather disturbing artefacts on close up characters!

Still I have a configuration I’m happy enough with now. I wonder if something like cheat engine and appropriate configuration files could modify eye height for us. I’ve never used cheat engine though.

This software really kicks ass, it just needs a bit of practice to make it work at its full potential. I got nearly native results with a bunch of amazing game (i wrote a small list on another thread). I am collecting VR games on Steam so i made quite a lot of experience with VorpX as well and i can tell that beside these ones, which i consider the more performant, there’s many many others that may have few glitches or minor incompatibilities but still worth to be played in VR with Vorpx because they are 100% more engaging than the monitor in any case. This is the most honest review i can do after 2 months practicing with Vorpx and many many games. I cut&paste the list of my favourites here:

    My list of favourites:

    Dishonored
    Outlast
    Mirror’s Edge
    Bioshiock Infinite
    Aliens: Colonial Marines
    Shadow Warrior
    The Darkness 2
    Dear Esther *
    Life is Strange *
    Dead Space 3 *
    Max Payne 3 *

    * Unlock prosiontal tracking form advanced options

These are my favourite perfomance wise. I would add also:

Alan Wake, which doesn’t suppuort geometry 3d or positional tracking but runs so well with Z-Buffer that you won’t miss the 2.

If you have a good pc and are interested on 2 or 3 games above you shouldn’t hesitate because, once learned how it works, you definitely won’t be disappointed in my opinion.

All these games works great with 970 and Vive at 1920×1400 with medium detail setting or so.

Mirrror’s Edge, Outlast, The Darkness 2, Aliens Colonial Marines, Dishonored, Bioshock Infinite works great with Geometry and positional tracking support (the ones i have). I would dare saying they look like native Vr on a good rig. Others like Dead Space 3 still kick ass with Geometry but have no positional tracking.

Points of view.. my games work great.

I just tried deus ex human revolution. It’s working, but took more than one hour to optimize via vorps settings, in game. And synchronisation is bugging with xbox controler, I must play directly on my keyboard.

And must notice that the quality of the textures is lower than half life 2 (2004) in VR (that is not requiering vorpx). I feel like playing a game of 2000 and not 2011…

I don’t like playing Deus Ex on the Vive so much. Which means that in my opinion that’s not one of the best VR adaptation. To see what Vorpx can do you should try other games especially Dishonored, Outlast, Bioshock Infinte, Aliens Colonial Marines, The Darkness 2… These are the ones i have offering best perfomance and easy configurations. Visually, they look great. But you will need a powerful rig to play in VR while keeping high resolution (1920×1440) and in game detail. Then it’s all about teaking and the way each games performs in VR. Some games may not be perfect but still highly playable, i would say Max Payne 3 and Duke Nukem Forever for example. Basic configuration is similar in most games but then you will see there’s always one or other little thing that can be fixed or adjusted to achieve the best experience.

Dude i tried Human Revolution: Directors Cut and it’s seems to be working quite well. It was one of the first games i tried and i couldn’t configure it properly that time. For your control problems i suggest to partially override the controller: both sticks but not the button. Then fine tune the sensibility of each sticks until it works well and do the same with head tracking sensibility. About the visual performance, i am getting very good results with gtx970. I set the resolution to 1920×1440, Fov 110, asyncronous time warp deactivated, lowered in game details. Then do the usual things like adjust the 3d strenght and image zoom. I just played a bit, i need further testing but i would say that this way it was working very well, and the game looked and sounded better than ever in this new prospective. I hope the vr gameplay will keep up but everything seems good so far!

I just tried the resolution 1920×1440. It performs much better than any other combination tried so far, especially the suggested 1280 x 1024. My suggestion is to make clear the resolution matter here in the forum and directly in the software because i think that suggesting 1280 x 1024 can be misguiding. I see that with lower resolution games performs slightly better but looks too much worse to be a fair trade and someone may get a wrong impression about your fantastic software.

In 1920×1440 games such Dishonored, Aliens:Colonial Marines, Bioshock Infinite runs very well on my Gtx970 and Vive, looking almost as good as native VR titles! Well done!!!!!!!

I have the FOV set at 120 and the 1st person FOV set at 140. I’m using the enhanced camera mod as well. It looks better as you said but not quite right yet..Can you suggest a specific mod or mods that will fix the giant arms issue? I am so close to Skyrim VR! Bioshock Infinite, Alien Isolation, and Dishonored have been a blast. I can’t wait to get started with Skyrim. I see so many other mods I want to install I just need to fix these big arms!! Thanks in advance.

First let me say thank you to Ralf for all you do. I am a long time lurker and long time owner. The experiences I have had due to VorpX allowing me to play some of my favorite games in VR is astonishing. My current favorites are Planetside 2, Fallout 4, ESO (it will work again I know it), Skyrim (of course), Dishonored, and the Metro series. Currently I am trying to get DayZ working and I thought I would try my luck and creating a new profile based on the ArmaII profile. When I attempt to link the .exe to the profile I get this message:
DayZ.exe is already assigned to the below profile(s):
    DayZ Standalone
You can only assign programs that are not already assigned.

I have looked but I cannot find a DayZ Standalone profile.
I’m sure I’m doing something wrong and am hoping you can point me in the right direction. However if you are currently working on ESO DX11 please do not stop, I can wait. :)
Thanks again. I don’t feel you get enough positive feedback here or on Reddit so I just wanted you to know I appreciate all you do.

It’s hard to describe, but when I look right or left I the screen peels away from my view and I see off the edge of the screen; almost like it’s in cinema mode.

Yeah same for me (odd and difficult to describe). Its like a screwed up backwards virtual cinema mode (or edge peek). Fallout 4 was fine in the previous release. Glad its not just me. Head tracking seems backwards and there is a screen in front (virtual cinema works fine btw).

Same thing happens for me in Bioshock infinite and Alien isolation.

This doesn’t happen for Skyrim or Dishonored (completely fine in those two).

I tried this with Fallout 4 by setting the 960×1080 in the ini. It worked and looked nice but the HUD and cursor is unusable. Is there another trick I can try?

The lock picking screen is missing with a custom resolution. I tried dishonored (g3d), outlast (g3d) and bioshock infinite (z3d). They worked perfectly with 1600*1800. The image quality was very nice.
