is now not yet possible to play far cry 6 in 3d, with z-normal?

3D can be troublesome with DX12, in certain cases certain games still keep running in 3D (if i remember correctly then HORIZON ZERO DAWN was one of the few still running in 3D even it uses DX12)

FARCRY 6 seems to be running with DX12 since one of its latest updates, so there was happening the same with RESIDENT EVIL (remake) getting a DX12-Update and since then refusing to run in 3D.

I was enjoying RE in 3D by the way, until those capcom-dorks decided to update the game with DX12 so then i had to continue playing the game in “boring” 2D then LOL.

Seems to be a common thing these days to do updates on games and suddenly change from DX11 to DX12, so i hate to say it but in certain cases it´s probably better to just pirate certain games and keep the game from doing certain more or less “useless” updates, especially when those are “destroying” a vorpX-3D experience that way.

Edit: Regarding your question, switching to 3D just made the glitch go away but i didn´t notice any 3D-effects so i am afraid the answer is “no”.

sorry, but you play far cry 6, with vorpx, in 2d? without 3d effect?

LOL I play almost all of my games in vorpX without 3D-Effects, let alone Full-VR. I only try/use the latter two on certain occiasons.

And nope, free vr-desktop apps can be very troublesome with certain games so since i have wasted too many troublesome hours with those free apps, vorpX is the deal, regardless if i am using its great 3D/Full-VR options or not.

That kinda sounds like what happens in some games when you have vorpX image sharpen set to Medium or High. See if setting to Low helps.

I wish we could get a Z3D profile for Far Cry 6. I’ve had no luck with all existing dx12 profiles.

I found a quick FIX for those troublesome games that won’t automatically attach that should, I just casually left click as it’s booting up until it attaches. I have to do it for far cry 2 and Yakuza0 otherwise they’ll hang or go back to desktop where the active game icon does nothing, it’s a simple trick and everything works in del menu like normal.

    Xenus 2 (Steam) (G3D)

Older Shooter, reminding on Far Cry somehow.

    – Optimized for Cinema Modes
    – Full VR not recommended
    – Cinema on Default
    – Profile available at the cloud

Hi, yes there is one profile on Cloud : Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy which works okay with nice 3D.
    loads and is well playable.

Days Gone is also great with Vorpx.

OUTRIDERS?? where did you see the Vorpx Z3D profile? I dont think there is one at all.
I run Reshade with 3d and it launches okay with Vorpx viewer.

Deathloop = great with Vorpx. I find it much cleaner and better then Reshade with Superdepth 3D.

For me the problem is the crashing of the games in the headset due to (performance drop?) I guess from steams virtual desktop.
I am running the Quest 2 with 3080Ti and have many issues with VD.

    I have 3 options:
(dont know of any other to try)

    Virtual Desktop
VR companion app from Bluesky defender
    Vorpx Desktop Viewer

Virtual desktop use to be better but has many issues for me anyway, where many games just dont start in the headset or loop loading etc

Vr Companion is bit better optimized but also some issues and the background is rather annoying (space stars etc – he is working on all black background)

I found Vorpox is the best viewer and player, zero issues, stable, nice when it loads – its perfect.
I love the adjustability options and the Ambience background

So for games which dont run with Vorpx profile, I use Reshade with superdepth 3D Vr
and basically try to run it in the vorpx viewer to have the same experience
yet this is hit and miss, some games like Far cry 6 and others work like that, but some crash instantly and its not possible to run them , I assume its a clash with the Reshade dll or something, unfortunately my technical knowledge is limited here how to make it work, somehow bypass the Reshade files so the Vropx viewer launches.

Its interesting and depends really on the game, some games with Reshade launch great, some not at all.
would love to know why and fix it :)

Does anyone know why some games start up well with Vorpx Viewer and some instant crash?
Outriders, Far Cry 5, 6, New Dwan, even Star Trek Battlefields 2 – all run perfectly on start up,
on the other hand MARVELS Avengers, Control, Quantum Break straight away crash with the Vorpx Viewer running.
No idea why.. cant really be the 3D engine as Tomb Raider runs great with the Vorpx Viewer but Marvels Avengers crashes, both run same engine..

Anyone has an idea or tip how to bypass those crashes on start up?

yeah! for some reason Virtual Desktop is going downhill for me with my Quest 2. Hardly any game starts and frankly it starts to suck big time, hence I am now all in in the Vorpx Desktop viewer – which is great especially with the ambience background, but you can choose any including Cinema and all. The Input you select in the menu itself when you press the DEL button. Change from normal to SBS and thats all she wrote!

For example in Far Cry New Dawn I had to set the FPS limited as it was really poor but Far Cry 6 and 5 run very well on low to mid settings. Need to test whats best on your machine.

I launch the game itself and once its launched I launch the Vorpx View with the VR controller on my dashboard, I find this the easiest way vs the Win button or ALT TAB.

What is strange that some games play straight up (outriders, Far cry even Star Wars Battlefield II), some on the other hand clash and crash straight away like MARVELS Avengers, Control and Quantum Break. No idea why..

Reverb G2 (version 2) in VorpX is a great experience! I’ve just upgraded my aging Oculus CV1 after building a new PC a few months ago (GTX 3070Ti GPU… waiting list on a 3080 was too long), and the difference is pretty staggering. I’m running most of the games I’ve tried so far at ~4k desktop resolution and piping them into VorpX. The end result would be a resolution I’d visually describe as somewhat equivalent to sitting in front of a 1440p display running at 90hz… but on any size of screen you want, and in full 3D if you like. Pretty great! Also, the contrast is quite good for an LCD type panel, and there’s basically no God-rays, and certainly no screendoor effect (wow, CV1 – how did I live with you for so long?). Peripheral vision is… eh… passable. Reverb G2 has a pretty small sweet spot where it looks crystal clear in the middle, but then begins to blur and has chromatic aberration off-centre. So, you won’t want to roll your eyeballs around a lot inside the headset… better to move your head and look directly at the things you want to view. Also it’s pretty comfortable, even while I’m wearing glasses.

Overall, G2 seems like an excellent fit for VorpX. I’m really looking forward to revisiting a lot of my PC gaming catalogue with this setup!

I would call dx12 functionality very limited right now. We only have a handful of official dx12 profiles to try from, which makes it risky to pick up any new games at full price.

I for example wanted to play AC Valhalla and Far Cry 6, but no existing dx12 profile provided working Z3D, only flat. I have stopped buying new because of this.

G3D (true 3D) is not even coded for dx12 yet. Only about 3 specific dx12 games have specialized mods for alternate eye rendering to imitate G3D visuals.

So if you’re lucky, Metro Enhanced with ray tracing and Z3D is possible yes (3D enough to convince your brain that the general scene has depth and space), but if not lucky, you’ll see only a flat image.

One more thing to note is that you will need to push high resolutions to gain a satisfactory image in a vr headset, so make sure your pc can run the game at least 50+fps @ 4k+ with ray tracing on.

Not trying to discourage you, just being realistic. You might have luck with some games, and you might not with others.

In case of Far Cry Primal the game has to be restarted once whenever something changes that affects the FOV (typically only once), the FOV adjustment is done with an .ini tweak here. Unfortunately that can’t be applied right away. The game applies the changed .ini value after a restart. Whenever that is necessary vorpX displays a little pop-up message.

The Portal 2 FOV flicker is indeed DirectVR related. In this case the memory scanner does the FOV adjustment in realtime without the need for a restart. Shouldn’t flicker though with a 4:3 res normally… Does that also happen without recording software running?

Not sure about the revesed axes. Do you by any chance play with a reversed mouse y-axis. That would have this effect.

The stuttering happened after I ran DrectVR Scan in Portal. Watching my footage back it was fine upto that point and yes I had ratio 4:3

So why did Far Cry Primal look better for me with Letterbox 2? The pixel 1:1 always looks too close and claustrophobic for me?
I put all my Full VR to letterbox 2 now. You can even see the FOV change when I selected it?

Also the Y Axis for Portal 2 and I tried Bulletstorm where reversed by default? Do I need to re-install again?

    :)

Did you change to a 4:3 res? has to be exactly 4:3 for Portal 2 and other games based on the same engine (e.g. Half-Life 2 or Black Mesa). Viable resolutions would e.g. be 1600×1200, 1920×1440 or 2560×1920.

On a sidenote: Watched your Far Cry video earlier and noticed that you changed the aspect to ‘Letterbox’. While that is highly useful when vorpX can’t handle FOV automatically, it’s not necessary in games where vorpX adjusts the FOV. Whenever a profile supports automatic FOV, vorpX computes an FOV that perfectly fits your headset FOV regardless of settings in the menu.

The only reason to prefer ‘Letterbox’ with automatic FOV handling would be getting a crisper image, which of course can be a good reason too.

Just a guess, but I wouldn’t rule out that in case of Portal 2 that may introduce flicker.

    My Initial Impressions:
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in VR and one of my FAVOURITE Far Cry games!
    * Full VR Mode
    * Play with Mouse/Keyboard or a Gamepad.
    * Geometry 3D 5/5
(If you recently played and enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 in VR with the VorpX standalone mod, you’ll LOVE this, its just as good and plays the same!)
