After getting a few more hours to play (I’m in Act II now) I have to say that with some fine tuning, Cyberpunk 2077 is incredible in Vorpx, assuming you have the hardware to crank everything up to the max. I think they wanted to do the game in VR but found that it was just not possible for most people given the fact that you need some pretty amazing hardware.

I really couldn’t imagine playing it any other way… I’ve noticed some bugs, and the game occasionally crashes but it’s 100% worth it. Maybe the best game since Halo CE or GTA V imho.. This is how the game was meant to be played it seems.

Here are some things I did, that may or may not suit your taste:

– significantly zoomed out the image so that I can see all of the hud, did some fine tuning on the zooming/edge peek mode so that you could really just play it in edge peek mode at times

– cranked the 3D in edge peek mode up

– changed the background to black, really helped make the game much more immersive, when in VR view it just looks like limits to my FOV rather than a floating screen

– cranked up the saturation and dialed in a few other settings like that

Kind of amazing the developers didn’t just put a mode like this in the game it’s ridiculous how much better it is than playing it on a monitor, even if this is sort of a sit-down “hyrbid VR” solution. Ralf has single handedly fixed Cyberpunk 2077 and if we ever get a full 3D mode that’s just icing on the cake.

Since the Ghost Recon Breakpoint Fiasko, the Pipeline of new Games in my “loot scheme” was empty. Bloodlines 2, Dying Light 2, Mass Effect Remastered and Watch Dogs Legion were postponed and the only Game i loved in 2020 was Mafia Remastered. I finished Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017 on a PS4, and play it again was boring. CP77 will save my love to Video Games in general, 2020 and Covid sucks my Passion.

Today is a day to celebrate for all Vorpx Gamer. Over 100 hours of Highest Quality Triple A Content. Only GTA 6, Red Dead Redemption 3 and Squadron 42 are able to beat it. CP77 is a first person game and that is what we need in VR. Its DRM Free and can be modded by the community from day 1.

The most Teething Bugs and Glitches will be fixed by CDPR in hurry, it was the same in the Witcher 3 and this was one of the best Video Game of All time. Overly Critical Point of Views are whining at a highest level.

Sorry to bother you but I am having a problem with GTA 5 not looking clear in my HMD (Index).

For the past few days, I’ve been trying to change the resolution of the game but no matter what I try the image in the HMD is always on the low side. I have a 2080 ti and 6700k oc so my system should be able to handle it.

Some of the things I tried include:

-adding custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel

-running gta without vorpx, changing the res, save, quit, restart (without vorpx active), checking the main menu of “graphics” is showing the correct res. Launch the game with vorpx (without vorpx game changes active) and checking to make sure the res is correct–it is.

-making a launch option in the gta steam option with the specific resolution (-w 3200 -h 2400)

-changing my desktop resolution to the same one as in gta 5 (3200 x 2400 on a 1080p tv) before launching the game–this did work in the past.

-obviously, letting vorpx setting of “change game resolution” to “”on” and letting it do everything.

-looking at the settings xml gta file to see if the resolution should be 3200 x 2400

-other things as well.

This is a fresh install of gta. Any support or suggestion would be great. Thanks.

In games that do not have anti-cheat services, I have never been banned using vorpX. Games I play online:

Unfortunately, if the game uses an anti-cheat service such as Easy Anti Cheat or BattlEye that block injection, then vorpX won’t even be able to hook into the game to begin with. So games like Rainbow 6 Siege (BattlEye) and most newer and mainstream games are not possible, as Anti-Cheat services have become demanded and common place. Scroll down on this page to see games with EAC for example.

This is sad of course, as there are lots of good looking games I would wish to play online and am missing out on, since I can no longer stand to play games on flat monitor anymore.

GTA online and RDR2 online are a grey area. I have never personally risked trying these yet, but I assume other people have and I have yet to hear any complaints. It is probably good practice however to assume that using vorpX for online gaming will always carry the risk of ban, so consider the possibility before each game you try.

That’s not correct, you refuse to listen, this has nothing to do with a thread being completely used up by the effect, 3D Vision actually limits the number of cores available to three.

I’ve been around 3D Vision since 2013, been into PC gaming since 2010, here’s my computer:

I’m not a noob, I know what I’m talking about, your need to come down from your technical high horse. You have this “I know what I’m talking about and youre spouting rubbish” position and refuse to listen.

3D Vision limits the number of physical cores available to three. The “3 Core Bug” problem is real and well known.

When using 3D Vision games only use up to 3 cores. I tried it myself with GTA 5 scaling up the number of core affinity to GTA 5. Once you’ve got to three that’s your lot, leaving GTA running between 35-45 FPS, using only about 40% GPU on my 2 gtx 980s in SLI.

I then disabled the 3d Vision driver and of course the FPS shot up to over 120fps and I get gpu usage of close to 100%. Disabled cores and discovered that with 3 cores enabled I get exactly the same performance as with 3d Vision enabled (without 3d of course) the same low gpu usage and low fps. Adding back the cores increases usage add brings it back to over 120fps.

Of course this doesn’t matter for alot of old games, but I think we are going to find this a big problem in the future. Something that hardware upgrades can’t even help with!

Anyone noticed this in any other games? Ragedemon says that it happens in AC4 Black Flag and CoD: Advanced Warfare too.

Anyone found a workaround?

I have no reason to defend nVidia, but imagine the following simplified scenario: a CPU with two cores and a game using two threads, one for rendering, one for physics. Now, again for the sake of simplicity, let’s say stereo rendering doubles the CPU workload of the render thread, causing the framerate to drop to half purely due to the higher CPU workload. The first thread (rendering) would still fully utilize its core, but the second thread (physics) now would only have to utilize 50% of its core since only half the frames need physics calculated compared to before. Result: instead of 100% CPU usage mono you get 75% CPU usage with stereo.

No mysterious ‘3 core bug’ anywhere, everything working as expected. The ‘culprit’ is the added stereo workload on the render thread, as simple as that. The numbers will differ in a real world example and vary from game to game, but I hope you get the idea.

If this were the case of a thread responsible for rendering frames being saturated and needing to offload some of it’s workload onto another thread then we would see this problem running the game in 2D at 120 FPS but this isn’t the case with 3D Vision. Example, say I run GTA 5, Prey or Rise of the Tomb Raider in a CPU intensive area (DX11) @ 120 FPS in 2D, everything maxed, at 2560×1440 with 2080 Ti and 8700k @ 5.1 GHz no problem, but 3D performance is, it’s like 1/3rd, an abysmal 40 FPS, or 80 FPS 2D. Even DX11 has the ability to use more than 4 cores / 8 threads for rendering, i.e. Crysis 2 / 3 or Watchdogs 2 for example, which sees even distribution of workload across CPU’s of greater core count. 3D Vision actually limits the game to only being able to run on 3 physical cores for some odd reason, so an 8700k would yield 0% performance advantage over 7700k and even 7700k would be down a core trying to process any game. I get and appreciate your logic that rendering would actually decrease the CPU load (because physics being done on a single thread would have reduced workload) but that’s not what I’m describing, 3D Vision limits the number of available physical cores to 3 cores for some odd reason, the technical nature of which escapes me right now. There is around a 50% drop in performance due to 3 core bug. For example, I can run a game @ 120 FPS with full load on the GPU in 2D but because 3 core bug limits the number of physical cores available to 3 in 3D those 3 cores may be incapable of rendering the game at 120 FPS (even the the effect renders @ 60 FPS there are still 120 frames being created simultaneously, one for each eye). Usually a CPU demanding title that I can run at 120 FPS avg with full / near full usage on the GPU will only run at 40 FPS, a performance drop of 40 FPS 2D.

Hey everyone,

So ive been with Vorpx for awhile and with Lockdown 2020 going on… i assume a fair amount of us are largely indoors, looking for games to play (maybe getting bored of the games we got since we are this far into it.)

So – I thought, may not be a horrible idea to share what Vorpx experiences we had that we thought were exceptionally good (or just exceptionally unique and need to be experienced)

So, Im offering my top picks here and some of them require Mods.

First of all – Dark Souls 3 with First Person Mod.

Now, to use this mod it does require you basically “not using” many of the games mechanics. You cant really use the Lock On ability because the first person camera mod basically makes Lock on go TOTALLY insane… So you pretty much are stuck playing the game as a quick 2 handed character. Now, this sounds awful, but once you get the flow of things (and things are indeed easier to dodge in first person – you see those swings coming) you will be massacring the Dark Souls 3 monsters with well timed rolls and a solid 2 handed weapon.

Now, I dont want anyone to feel like Im sending them to their deaths here, so there is a GREAT 2 handed weapon available at the start of the game, after you kill the first boss.

Watch that video and he will lead you to the best two handed option early in game that you can level up and use all the way to the end of the game – im not lying, beat the game with zero lock on and just dodging and using that sword, leveling it up as i went. So unfortunately – Shield blocks and Spellcasting are kinda out of the window since Lock on doesnt work right… but its still an incredible experience to see the beautifucally horrific monsters in Dark Souls 3 up close and the ‘fun part’ is – your sword SWINGS where you are ‘looking’ – so there is some degree of motion controls because you will be slashing at one dude and turn your head to hit his buddy and your sword slash WILL follow your ‘face’… so you aim with your head.. its kinda glorious and fun if youre a Dark Souls Fan.

Anyways, Dark Souls 3 is totally playable like this (if youre a souls fan, i think most of us agree, Dark Souls 3 is far and away the easiest of the bunch, so this isnt impossible. Now this does use CheatEngine so you want to be playing offline for this mod)

Next up, Sekiro with a first person mod.

This one I have NOT finished the game yet – but – it seems to work much better than the Dark Souls 3 mod, it doesnt make the camera go wonky on lock ons so you can lock onto your enemies and “stand your ground” as you normally would in Sekiro (and parries seemed WAY easier in first person, seeing when their sword is about to hit you is alot easier when theyre right in your face)

This one is much easier to get up and running, dont need to worry about getting a specific sword and everything. For extra fun – if you wanted to feel a bit more like Spider Man + Sekiro, you can increase the range of your grapple hook as well, this one is just for funsies, but fuck it,youre modding the game anyhow :P

So thats the end of my Souls recommendations haha.

Onto some other fun ones. GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas and GTA 4 all have First person mods and work great in Vorpx. GTA5 has a few VR mods out there and i havent dug into it yet to know whats better or not, but you can get first person mods for Vice City and San Andreas and 4 and experience driving your car in first person, looking over your shoulder (they actually have an animation where when you look into your blind spot you see your characters shoulder leaning back like in real life to check a blind spot lol).. and being in VR listening to the absurd radio shows that pop up on there is just alot of fun.

Also just great out of the box experiences – All the Metro games. Even though it doesnt have full 3d I found a good profile for Evil Within 2 and that game features a good first person mode, it might be fun for survival horror fans to just put it up on immersive screen mode.. it was a ton of fun when I played it.

Just trying to give some recommendations to my fellow Vorpxers about games that are out there that are alot of fun.

It seems like the game must be restarted and re-attached to VorpX with every change I make to it’s settings, otherwise it will not take effect in VorpX.
So I must go through all the Antialiasing settings, Resoultion settings and Fullscreen/Windowed modes with restarting the game every time. As I understand, AA anti-aliasing are 3 things in RDR2: FXAA MSAA and TAA. FXAA has 2 options – On or Off; MSAA has 4 options – Off, X2, X4, X8; TAA has 3 options: Off, Medium and High. So will take some time.
If it helps GTA V with VorpX works flawlessly.

Hi,

Since i tried a mod for GTA 5 making it VR, i was amazed O_O and i wanted to try to run other non-vr games ( particulary 3d person games ). I found a video on youtube about Vorpx and download it…

But the results are a bit sour, i can launch some games on VR, i tried the cinema and the immersive mods, but i’m really interested in the full VR mode.

And there’s the problem.. i can’t find the way to disociate de camera movement from the headset tracking.. every time i move my head head the whole view have to move with it. The GTA 5 mod i mentionned had the camera controlled by the gamepad ( like it has to be for normal games )and in there i moved my head i could look around the world but the camera position didn’t move ..if it makes sense. It was really more immersive and more important less jarring.

Is there a hidden option , to turn the control camera from the headset to the gamepad ? I could find it in the in game menu.

Please every advice will be apreciated.

sounds like you ran into exactly the same problem i did with the GTA mod :\ Kinda disappointed cause they literally say on their site itll work with oculus… they just dont include the fact it doesnt support the touch controllers entirely, was just a waste of time for you and me to try it – little annoying. lol

Honestly id recommend Dead Effect 2 VR over Doom 3 BFG Modded, but if you liked doom 3, itll be a fun ride cause you use your fingers to point and touch things and everything, touch is 100% integrated.

There is a mod for Half life 1 that supports touch? Did you use vorpx for it or is it standalone?
