Earlier in the thread, 1440p was already listed with the ideal 4:3 ratio. Even so, 1920 x 1440 is 1440p @ 4:3 ratio.
Check out the web page called calculateaspectratio.com. You can punch in any setting you like to get a proper ratio as long as your card driver supports using it. Just add https:// to the above address to get there.

Thanks, but when I run the game in 19201440, I get a 16×9 image–I can see this by using edge peak: the left and right sides of the image are cut off in fullvr, which means I assume that my PC is rendering those parts of the image for no reason. This is different than a 4:3 image, where when I use edge peak I can see that very little of the left and right side of the image is being cut off …
It sounds like your game is running in either 1920 x 1080…which is 16:9 ratio for 1080p… or 2560 x 1440…which is 16:9 ratio for 1440p. Somewhere along the line of settings for your game it is prob going to 16:9. The auto settings for vorpx allow you to choose 1440p (as 4:3 ratio) which Ralf has already taken care of for everyone (unless you choose to not go with auto settings in Vorpx). If you haven’t already, set vorpx to auto and see what happens. Vorpx should override and take care of any settings you set in your game if vorpx is set to auto. If after this it still does the same then you will need to reset vorpx to default settings and auto.

Agreed, the profile needs work. The 3D is stronger in Z-normal and I’m not sure choosing a different profile would be better or even which profile would be best (I do know the Diablo 3 profile did not work).
Hopefully someone smarter than me can figure it out, cause I get too caught up playing the game on the Vive!
I’ve tried both the injector and the wrapper, neither one works. I’m currently a level 77 with 277 mods installed. Unfortunately the game won’t run even in 2D without ENB installed. Just trying to hang on until SkyrimVR hits the PC market.
I hope this topic can help some people so no body accuse me of being a necromancer. I just got Vorpx today :) and am a satisfied customer. I agree with naida133 and Ralf. A simple rendered image without post processing eg AA,DOF etc.. is a good starting place and 1080 horizontal lines are way too few to get a decent image 1440 looks amazing. I have a 4k telly that accepts a 1440p signal natively. The only thing not said so far is there is a setting called crystal image which has off, normal or extreme. A real difference can be seen between the modes. What this setting is doing is changing the ‘supersampling’ or ‘pixel per display’. Normal multiplies the current value by 1.5 and Extreme by 2 ( from 1.4 set in the debug tool i ended up with 2.8!! which is ott). A very strange bit of coding and even stranger name. At first glance I thought this setting must be some sort of horrible post processing and turned it off. It is in fact a very lovely setting that allows me to set a goldilocks ‘pixel per display’ multiple of 2 without opening the Oculus debug tool. thanks for a great software Vorpx keep up the good work. With all of the above dark souls 3 is soooo good and much better than without stereoscopic 3D.
Hi guys and fantastic job with VorpX, best thing in VR!
But today VorpX has suddenly stopped working? I’ve tried everything i can think of to try to get it to work again.
I did the update two days ago and it was working fine playing F.E.A.R. But today i can’t get any game to load up. I’ve even tried to load up the desktop viewer but it still won’t come on.
Weird thing is that they are running in the background on Task manager. I’m pulling my hair out as to what to do next??
The only thing that i could think of is that suddenly i’m getting a Mcafee notification saying they have quarantined a suspicious file named JTI/Suspect!131281 .Could this have anything to do with it??
Sometimes also it comes up with a window saying “VorpX Control..Injection failed: Unable to hook: Launch.exe”
Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks guys
I get this too. It’s VorpXs’s .TMP file in users/”user”/appdata/local/temp/vorpx/ which gives the false positive and as it gets different name every time, it can’t be excluded in mcafees real time scan, AND in Mcafee there isn’t any way to exclude whole directory (i’ve already excluded everything in actual VorpX install directory), so only way is to disable the real time scanning during VorpX usage. Also, in VorpX it would be good to exclude mcafees runtimes, at least the UI runtime.
It would be great to have Vorpx guys themself to inform these false positives to Mcafee and other antivirus firms, as we customers have bought a non-alpha/beta product and therefore i think we have also bought some customer servive not to inform about these incompatibility between VorpX and our antivirus to their makers? At least i’m not changing yearly subscription of Mcafee to Windows Defender because of VorpXs false positives..
@Ralf, have you ever considered a subscription option in an addition to the VorpX price where you could hire someone else just to add additional support for those of us that would be willing to pay for it? The subscription payers would get access to the added support of what was added by this additional employee and will eventually be included in the main VorpX after a period of time for everyone else. You would continue to add support like you have too though for all the main VorpX users.
Real good news Ralf, thank you !
BTW: i came across this today , DX1-11 to openGL Wrapper. Couldnt that be a way to get all those old DX1-8 gamnes to work ?

I have in my cart now one $39.95 VorpX with the option to use PayPal and I’m so close to pushing it but some of the reviews and comments here give me pause.
I have an HTC Vive setup with a machine exclusively made for VR using an Nvidia card (1060? 1080?) and I forget all the details at the moment. I may boot it up later and get the system specs and add them. For now, let’s just say that it runs everything I’ve thrown at it so far.
I bought Skyrim SE about two months ago, have 216 active mods, use Nexus Mod Manager, and run all this on a laptop. I don’t have any graphics enhancements as the laptop gets sluggish with them. Most of them are new NPCs (most I will be removing), new buildings, weapons, spells, and other odds and ends.
I don’t have ENC. I do have SKSE64, FNIS, SkyUI, and I think that’s all that alters the core esm files if they even do that.
I’ve read that some people complain that Skyrim SE has a fogging issue, menus chopping off, and other nagging problems that make me hesitate to purchase.
How does it fare now? Are these simply settings? I don’t mind getting my hands dirty by having to tweak things. Computers have been my hobby and profession for forty years. (Darn I’m getting old.) I would really like to see this game in VR and don’t want to buy a console or wait until December for the supposed Skyrim VR to come out for PCs.
Thanks
Despite vorpX having an official profile for Nier: Automata, I get a “Failed to start process, access is denied,” error when launching from Steam with vorpX running. Without vorpX running it loads just fine. I can’t figure out what’s preventing it from launching Nier when vorpX is running. It works fine with every other game I’ve tried so far. Did you ever get this to work?
I use my 1080ti with a i5 4690k@ 4.3Ghz and also use 16gigs DDR3 1866mhz ram. I have no problems with my CPU bottle necking the 1080ti. There is still plenty of performance left in this CPU…as generally speaking…some games are CPU limited and some games are GPU limited. Memory speed has increased by quite a lot in the latest generation CPU’s & MB chipsets but that doesn’t necessarily mean the faster speed of DDR4 is going to give much of a boost over DDR3…presently. On paper DDR4 trumps DDR3 but in the real gaming world it doesn’t always work in the same way. A little research comparing DDR4 & DDR3 will provide great answers that are beyond this thread in answering.
150% faster performance generally means the amount of pixels/texels/etc will be calculated that much faster, but not necessarily resulting in 3 times the fps. Fps performance is different for each game engine including the age of the game involved. Purchasing a 1080ti presently…if you can find one…and reasonably priced…is a safe bet…even with the GPU that will be released later this year. The new GPU will only be at most 20% better than a 1080ti, which probably is not going to give VR gaming that much more performance over all. What is needed is Foveated Rendering to become reality…which will enable older cards to perform in VR much more efficiently.
Like I said, if you can get a 1080ti now…do it…it will last you at least a few years or so until games get much more GPU dependent. Even after that you’ll probably still be able to recover 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of what you paid…due to the fact that GPU’s only increase in performance small %’s at a time…unless some future discovery takes place that causes a leap in performance.
Cheers!!!
How high can you go in resolution until you dont see no more change in quality ?
Open the SteamVR settings and put the supersampling at 4. Below the bar it should show you the resolution. This is generally accepted as the max resolution that makes sense to use and that people can see difference with.
As steph12 pointed out, the performance of the fast GPU itself is not enough to guarantee the best or even optimal performance. You also need at least a fast CPU. Depending on the games you want to play (most older games) you might want to get an overclockable CPU with the max possible per core speed. And at that point you would also want fast RAM (>= 3000MHz)
if i were you i’d wait april, nvidia is going to release new nvida gpu before summer, rumors say this april.
i know that gtx 1080 ti is an amazing card, but you also need a strong cpu and ram to get nice fps.
after this, it all depends of the game optimization, for example wow is optimized like shit, it runs on only one core and gpu doesnt help much in this game… so even with gtx 1080 ti you’ll get shitty fps.
and gtx 1080 ti is faster that 150% of gtx 970 (meaning 1.5 more power than gtx 970), it’s more like 2.5, even 3 times faster in gaming.
If action packed FPS games are what you’re looking for, Titanfall 1/2 are perfect for you this time around. Very cool sci-fi themed FPS with unusual things like wall running etc. True AAA games with very high budgets/production value, made by Respawn – the new studio of the original Call of Duty creators.
Get Even is another FPS game, slower paced, but very nice graphics made with photogrammetry, not unsimilar to the graphics of Ethan Carter.
And as per IIRC your personal request there is also Direct VR head tracking for Ethan Carter now.
Kingdom Come Deliverance might also be interesting for you. It’s a hardcore RPG, but if you are mostly looking for walking/running through nice scenery it might still be worth a look.
And Tron 2.0, of course, if you don’t mind playing something a little bit older.
