Ralf will likely say to start: Try re-installing VorpX, and resetting the profile to default.
Since VorpX is likely increasing the workload on your system, it could be that your card just kaks out the higher the settings and the harder it has to run.
You could try as an experiment, running the game without VorpX, but on the highest possible settings and resolution, and see if it causes an issue that way.

for some months now i have troubles gettings directVR games full working.
usually 2 first scanner pass but positional tracking always fail, well when it actually pass the positional tracking doesnt work at all just like if it was disabled, or my headtracking doesnt work anymore.
for alien colonial marines for example.
1 scan (rotation) ok
2 scan (fov) ok
3 scan (positional) fail = basic positional tracking still works + headtracking.
but glitches with fov switching on and off all of a sudden.sometimes still with alien colonial marines

so basically even if scan 3 fails i have full direct VR + some sort of positional tracking (i know it’s strange right) but it resets every time i enter a new zone or load a save.
strange enough, i remember years ago everything was working great.
i’m at lost here but i have a question, and sorry for being noob about tech stuff but are you 100% sure that base 1 htc vive stations still works perfectly fine with direct VR scanner code despite all the updates you did, do you still check this when you update vorpx ? maybe base stations have nothing to do with my issue but i have no idea what is causing this.
this is the only issue i have with vorpx right now and i’d love to find a way to fix it so any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I’m having troubles adding high custom resolutions. I successfully added 2880×2160 (as suggested in many different threads here) in my NVIDIA control panel, but my PC is powerful enough (and the game old enough…) to run it even higher. I would like to try this because I notice the lower resolution when I disable EdgePeek on my VIVE Pro.
I tried adding 3200×2400, but unfortunately my computer black-screens and locks up when I press “Test”. Only a hard reset will get it working again. I’m using a Geforce RTX 2080 Super with the latest drivers (451.67 game ready), and a BenQ XL2420T 16:9 FullHD monitor. The system is almost completely fresh, it’s just a couple of days old.
Did anyone else encounter this problem before?

RalfKeymasterTry to reset the profile to default, my guess would be that the default shadow setting is ‘No S3D’.
I’ll check the profile whether maybe some game update broke shader definitions. I can’t really remember anymore how things were exactly with this profile, but in general you should get accustomed to slight shadow glitches in G3D. I know how hard that is for you. :)

panterarosa2ParticipantYes, as my laptop does not have iGPU. Just GTX1070 (MSI GT72VR 7RE)
I have tried using VORPX without the shortcut, running vorpX from folder. We made a progress here. Now, WMR portal and steam VR opens automatically when I launch RE7. However, still not working, as after WMR and Steam opens, RE7 closes. If I try to launch it again when WMR and Steam are open, it will close too, or it will say not able to hook RE7.
I also have tried RE2, Dragon ball Z kakarot, destiny 2. They close same as RE7. World war Z opens just Steam and VorpX sucessfully is attached to it, however, it does not open WMR so headset is off and game is just displayed on desktop. If I open WMR after that, does nothing. I have no log file for these games.

I just tried to play this now, freshly installed, and Im getting double vision, a bit like looking at SBS on my desktop.
Ive tried restarting, resetting profile (not sure why since I hadnt altered anything), attemption to change the resolution – which very hard to see at all because it has some very low res set and is tiny being double vision!

People complain they can’t run Ultra, but there is no Ultra standard. Ultra will always be what ever values the devs put in that pushes the limits. They could have labeled the High preset “Ultra” and called it a day. It’s arbitrary. People just want to be able to brag that their machine is beast haha.. end rant.
Still though, it would be nice if they could optimize to utilize the hardware better, which other games have proven possible.
I see why you would think 2880×1600 is the native res of the Pro, but when you consider each eye is really only 1440×1600 (nearly square, not widescreen rectangle), that is double the width that you actually see in the headset. (And no, you don’t need to double the width to compensate for SBS rendering)
Since most games don’t accept abnormal aspect ratios like 1440×1600, you’ll often need to settle for 5:4 or 4:3 when possible (1600×1200,1920×1440,etc). In the case of RDR2, you can’t seem to use 1:1 square or lower, but 10:9 is as close as I got. It probably doesn’t need to be exactly 10:9, you might try rounding to 2200×2000 and it might work fine.
The point is, the squarer the ratio you can get in, the less waste you will have on the sides in fullVR mode. Less waste means more performance headroom to make that square higher res. The higher the res is beyond your native displays, the more they are super sampled for additional clarity. This is more apparent in headsets since they are magnified screens right up to our face. Try sticking your nose up to your monitor and see how ugly “native” actually is up close.
Just try loading a super high res like 3200×2880 to see the clarity improvement. You don’t have to keep it, but at least you’ll get an idea of what potential you can expect. And no, it won’t look as good as on your monitor, but you should already know that VR tech isn’t quite there yet.
I’m getting too wordy again, sorry. Hope you can find some visual improvement with some more experimenting. Or at least more than Deer Hunter Arcade :)

RalfKeymasterWhile that will not help you anymore this time: you can save profiles to your harddisk on the local profiles page by dragging them from the profiles list to your desktop. That way you can save important profiles before doing a factory reset.

dborosevParticipantHmm. Sounds like the same thing. Only I’m on an Odyssey+ so I don’t see any “Next Up” I just see the WMR landscape like VorpX isn’t running.

I couldn’t find another thread about this issue, I first noticed it when I tried to reset my view using VorpX in game. When it reloaded there were parts of the environment that were missing and my character will flicker in and out of the game while I move. I finished the area I was at and when it loaded the next area it was still having the problem. I tried restarting my computer and it seemed to be okay, but occasionally it will do it again. Right now my save file will load with this issue and I can’t seem to get it to function properly again. Thanks for any help. I also have a couple small issues with Max Payne 3, it looks great in 3D, but the aiming pointer is hard to use and sometimes splits into 2. The subtitles also get messed up when a character pops up through them. Anyone have an idea for those?

Topic: issue with direct VR games.
hello Ralf.
for some months now i have troubles gettings directVR games full working.
usually 2 first scanner pass but positional tracking always fail, well when it actually pass the positional tracking doesnt work at all just like if it was disabled, or my headtracking doesnt work anymore.
for alien colonial marines for example.
1 scan (rotation) ok
2 scan (fov) ok
3 scan (positional) fail = basic positional tracking still works + headtracking.
but glitches with fov switching on and off all of a sudden.sometimes still with alien colonial marines

3 scan (positional) ok = no headtracking at all or headtracking but no positional tracking at all.i can repeat this in all directVR games, fresh install, no mods, antivirus disabled, every extra softwares disabled, tried unplugging every extra usb hardware i have, unplugged my second monitor, still no luck.
so basically even if scan 3 fails i have full direct VR + some sort of positional tracking (i know it’s strange right) but it resets every time i enter a new zone or load a save.
strange enough, i remember years ago everything was working great.
i’m at lost here but i have a question, and sorry for being noob about tech stuff but are you 100% sure that base 1 htc vive stations still works perfectly fine with direct VR scanner code despite all the updates you did, do you still check this when you update vorpx ? maybe base stations have nothing to do with my issue but i have no idea what is causing this.
this is the only issue i have with vorpx right now and i’d love to find a way to fix it so any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Just a disembodied muzzle flash in the same place on screen. Haven’t got as far as more than one gun yet but the first one is invisible in Vorpx. Everything else in the game so far looks great.

I’m having troubles adding high custom resolutions. I successfully added 2880×2160 (as suggested in many different threads here) in my NVIDIA control panel, but my PC is powerful enough (and the game old enough…) to run it even higher. I would like to try this because I notice the lower resolution when I disable EdgePeek on my VIVE Pro.
I tried adding 3200×2400, but unfortunately my computer black-screens and locks up when I press “Test”. Only a hard reset will get it working again. I’m using a Geforce RTX 2080 Super with the latest drivers (451.67 game ready), and a BenQ XL2420T 16:9 FullHD monitor. The system is almost completely fresh, it’s just a couple of days old.
Did anyone else encounter this problem before?
