There is already a topic with a lot of them :
Geometry VR Game List.
You can check engines&games here :
https://rjkole.com/gamestuff/engines/index.php
Or looking for the game on the forum.
Or just trying it (the only way to be sure).
From my personnal experience, best profiles are :
Originals Bioshock 1&2&Infinite
Originals Metro (I tried 2033 it has perfect G3D and 6dof) and Redux versions (I tried Last Light Redux and it was perfect but I recommand a top end graphic card with this Redux version, without even knowing if it’s better than standard)
The ascent (and some others Unreal Engine 4 games) works well.
Black Mesa (&Xen), probably Portal and Dark Messiah.
People say Dishonored, Titanfall 2, F.E.A.R, Mirror’s Edge, Fallout 3, etc. works well.
Probably Clive Barker’s Jericho & Undying too.
Originals Stalker works with good G3D but without adavanced lighting (DX9 only).
Kingdom Come Deliverance, Metro Exodus and Farcry Primal works well enough (and so probably Cry Engine games like Prey 2017 / Crysis 1-3, and Snowdrop Engine games like Facry 2-5)
Even if concerning Metro Exodus, I prefer Z3D during most of the game (except bunkers&spiders which are great in G3D) in order to have raytracing, at least on Reverb G2 (no compression, so it’s stunning).
Some Z3D profiles are very close to G3D (Atomic Heart, Frontier Of Pandora, Unreal Engine 5 games seems to work great from my experience).
I may be wrong, but I think most DX9 games probably have perfect G3D, and some DX11 games too.
i am running VorpX on a 7700xt
game launches normally without interference
i launch VorpX to hook
this error is consistent:
Failed to create DXT Texture. This game requires DXT support. If you have manually disabled it, please re-enable it and try again.
Game launches fine when running in DX10, I have set that setting in the config.ini.
Hook Helper does not help at all. Despite setting it to manually be used DX10. My headset is recognized fine. Mirror’s edge will not open
i have installed physx, done whatever I could.
i cannot seem to find where to actually *edit* the profile to directly use dx10..? I do not know what to do. this game is the main reason i own VorpX to begin with, and consistently having problems in multiple facets of getting even basic functionality.
Both Titanfall 2 and Mirror’s Edge should work from the EA app. You could try to disable the EA ingame menu, although that shouldn’t be necessary.
Resolution isn’t really an issue. Super easily addressable for literally every game out there.
For fully featured DirectVR profiles vorpX has game specific code that lets you set the resolution in the vorpX menu in various steps. If that’s the case vorpX displays an according hint in the top/left corner of the game window and in the headset.
If not, you can always adjust the resolution in the game options yourself, just like you would do when playing on your monitor.
Also make sure to read the ‘Custom Resolutions’ section in the vorpX help. It explains how to add resolutions to your PC that your monoitor can’t display. Alternativly you can use the new virtual monitor in vorpX 24.1.0, which comes with all important resolutions predefined and thus saves you the somewhat tedious process of setting up custom resolutions.
If you experience issues like that regularly with multiple games that are usually known to work well like e.g. Titanfall 2 and Mirror’s Edge, there almost certainly is something getting in the way that also hooks into games. (Double and triple) check what tools/utilities you may have running in the background. If in doubt, exit it. No matter how unlikely you consider it to potentially cause such an issue.
Also make sure to try installing hook helpers when the ‘Attaching To …’ dialog shows that option after a minute or so. Installing a hook helper to the game folder can often resolve hooking conflicts without having to find the offending app/tool.
Also be aware that some GamePass games may be compiled as UWP (Universal Windows Platform) apps, which run in a sandbox and can’t be hooked. Extremely unlikely though that Titanfall 2 and Mirror’s Edge have been recompiled as UWP apps for GamePass.
Hello everyone,
I am new on here and just began using the software a few days ago testing out just a few games just to see what the experience was like. I would like to say first off that my experience so far with older titles has been mind blowing. One thing I did want to point out though and this may be me just having to tinker with all settings.. I find myself trying to figure out the FOV settings and controller setups for each game. A few games in particular that worked flawlessly for me was Mirror’s Edge, Duke Nukem Forever, Dishonored. I pretty much just loaded up the game, went into the menu, hit direct vr scan and voila full vr was working as intended by the software.
Now the games I’ve been having issues with and this may be just be a me problem and not understanding which settings to adjust but I did try to adjust FOV for these game but it just didn’t come out quite right are Skyrim SE, Deus Ex Human Revolution(sorta already works with Direct VR).
Gestures for character movement are next on the list as far as new gestures are concerned. Hadn’t thought about jumping yet, but this sounds actually great.
BTW: There is an ages old option on the head tracking page of the vorpX menu (HT Crouch/Jump) from a time before such witchcraft as motion controllers were added to VR that let’s you jump when you jump and duck when you duck. Doing that consequently in Mirror’s Edge would probably the best VR workout ever. I haven’t checked it for years though, so TBH I’m not sure whether it maybe is broken.
Edit : Still works in principle, but for whatever reason can only be configured before a DirectVR scan has been performed. Guess I’ll revisited that before the next update. Nothing you’d want to do all day, but still fun actually when it works.
Hi team,
I’ve been using vorpx for a few years now across a variety of different machines and headsets and have never had any issue. Within the last couple of days I have been plagued by some oddball behaviour on games that have always been working fine for me.
Fallout New Vegas:
DirectVR scan causes freeze and crash to desktop.
Metro 2033 / Last Light Redux:
About 1 in 3 game startups won’t crash. Once in game, everything looks fine but DirectVR scan crashes to desktop.
Some other titles work perfectly fine (Mirror’s Edge / Dishonored) and DirectVR scan as intended. I use windows defender as my AV and have changed no settings on that side of things. I also added vorpx to its exclusions just in case some windows update made it overzealous.
I went the nuclear option and did a fresh install of win10 and the issues persists. I have also tried doing clean re-installs of vorpx inside and outside of the c: programs folder. No difference was discovered.
I’m using a valve index on a AMD 5950x, 64gb RAM and a RTX 3090 on Win10 64bit (21H1 OS Build 19043.1052)
I’m curious if anyone else has encountered similiar issues.
Mirror’s Edge is really impressive. Also played Bioshock (non-remaster) and it’s great. Working on getting Cyberpunk 2077 to look it’s best.
I’m using an MClassic, which offers a 4:3 aspect ratio option so I’m going to try and get CPunk looking as crispy as possible. I added all of Ralf’s custom resolutions to my 2080 Ti and will be playing around with it more later.
I have Alien Isolation using the MotherVR mod running incredibly and now that I added the MClassic it’s a whole new level.
Love VorpX, but really curious how “best resolution” is selected?? For example, I only played with it briefly but I couldn’t get the original Unreal to zoom out further like in Mirror’s Edge. TBH, have only spent about 2-3 hours with it thus far..
I just got VorpX and I’ve been playing around with it trying to use it on Titanfall 2 and Mirror’s Edge but the gameplay is pixelated and blurry on both games. I’ve been trying to change the resolution in the Direct VR tab but there’s no option for that. I get an option where I can choose the quality but I can’t get it past “Decent”. It’s saying that I should add custom resolutions if I go over “Decent” so I added all the custom resolutions on this list:
Custom Resolutions for the Direct VR Settings Optimizer
After doing all that, I still can’t change the resolution, nor get past “Decent”.
If it helps at all, I’m trying to play the games on a Quest 2 and my PC is running a Ryzen 5 5600x, RTX 3070 and 16gb of RAM.
Hello all! I’m about two weeks into my VR experience (Oculus Rift S) and it is absolutely amazing so far. I am LOVING all the immersion I’m seeing with this wonderful piece of hardware on my face. It’s great.
Recently I discovered the software that allows us to unlock VR potential for potentially hundreds more games; it’s the one we’re all here for! :) I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get it very soon; if it can at least unlock stereo 3D (looking mostly straight ahead with full or mostly-full 3D depth) for some of the great games I play in desktop mode, then it may well pay for itself already in my estimation.
Question. I saw a video of someone playing Mirror’s Edge in VR using VorpX. They would continually use the Delete key (I’m assuming the key below Insert and above the arrow keys towards the right of the keyboard, not the numeric one) to access the main in-game Menu. Is there a way to bind the Menu to something different? I would be able to take Ctrl+Alt+V if that’s possible.
The thing is, since I am left-handed, that Delete key is my primary use/interact key for all of my 3D games that I play on my mouse/keyboard, and it would potentially be problematic if the Menu key were not re-bindable from Delete. (I’ve more or less memorized the locations of keys by feel, such that I don’t have to look at them while playing or typing, as I’m sure all gamers have to do.)
Thank you for your assistance; if this is answered in the positive, I’m pretty sure buying VorpX is a lock for me this coming month.
Take care, and enjoy your VR’ing!
PS. AHHH just realized since the forum is powered by WordPress, it pulled my profile picture! That was weird to see at first. Well, hello there! I do do some blogging occasionally, and I need to once in a while; it’s been years! Heh.
Mirror’s edge is just amazing with Vorpx and I’ve been playing through that.
Gearing up to play through Metro Exodus as soon as I get my RTX 3080.
Cheers
I just replayed Mirror’s Edge algo with VorpX, amazing, you hit DirectVR, and boom, it’s perfect VR !!!!!
I hope one day we’ll hace a good profile for Catalysy, meanwhile I’ll keep an eye on Stride that should release this summer.
I’ve always assumed that one has to have “shader knowledge” etc to make things work when “misusing” a profile for another game…
I will definitely try to get Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst and SOMA to run – games that are dear to my heart, and they use very popular engines. In the next weeks, i suppose. Wish me luck. :)
Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst uses the Frostbyte Engine.
I assumed that VorpX has a profile for this game. Does it not? That would be very disappointing, because it’s a beautiful experience. And i planned to play it in VorpX in the next months…
Unfortunately not, the original Mirror’s Edge used an entirely different 3D-engine. I think someone posted about Catlyst not too long ago though. Not 100% sure, but worth to check the cloud profiles in the config app for an user profile.
