Does it work with the mirrors edge profile ?
After finishing the original Mirror’s Edge using Vorpx, I have been craving another VR experience like it. It’s definitely in my top 5 favorite VR experiences that I’ve had within the past couple of years.
To scratch that itch I have tried out Mirror’s Edge Catalyst in Vorpx, and unfortunately my experience was not good. There is no real 3D support which makes it difficult to judge where I am in the game world which is pretty important for platforming. The Z-3D just doesn’t work well with objects up close which really ruins the immersion. There also only mouse emulation head tracking which in my experience has a significant amount of latency for some reason.
I hope to one day be able to play Mirror’s Edge Catalyst in VR like I could in the original game. G3D support would be nice, and DirectVR support even better. Are there any plans to include G3D support into Frostbite games like this?
Hey guys,
I just want to gauge what I can expect from vorpx performance wise as I’m new to this.
Could someone else please let me know what kind of performance they’re getting in these games using the direct VR feature.
For mirror’s edge at 1440p (in vorpx menu) I am getting pretty wild fluctuations between 30fps and 60fps on a 1080 gpu and 1600 ryzen.
Hi,
So far I’ve tried Mirror’s Edge and Far Cry Blood Dragon and unfortunately neither work very well at all.
For some reason about 1 minute after booting either game, Oculus pops up with an error along the lines of it having lost tracking. This isn’t happening with proper VR games in either Oculus or SteamVR, only with vorpX.
Secondly, both games I’ve tried are inexplicably capped at 40fps. My gpu is a 1080 and cpu is a ryzen 1600x. I can play both these games in 4K no problem so I don’t understand why the fps is so low in vorpX, perhaps some menu option I’ve misunderstood?
I’m a bit let down because I took these two games off the “good full VR games for beginners list” believing they were pretty much ready to go.
Any advice welcomed!

Can you please share with me your troubleshot data so
I can see if there is any service in common ?

with mirror’s edge
i don’t know if
has anything
to do with
this …
Thanks
That’s not quite as important anymore for modern games as it used to be. Most games these days use low latency mouse input with almost as little latency as memory scanner head tracking. The memory scanner is still quite a bit better for other reasons, but the advantage isn’t as huge with most newer games.

If you are new to vorpX, you probably want to hop right into the action instead of learning how to configure vorpX. The list below contains first person games that work with litlle to no configuration in ‘Full VR’ due to vorpX’s DirectVR functionality, which can configure important things like field of view, head tracking or resolution automatically.
For third person games that are usually played best in immersive screen or cinema mode not much configuration is required in general, so this list focuses on first person ‘Full VR’ games that can be a little harder to configure without DirectVR.
If you are stuck, make sure to check the ‘Essential Hints Guide’ and the ‘Quick Reference’ in the help. They help you understand a few basic concepts.

Third person games like Diablo 3 or WoW usually start in cinema mode. You can switch to full VR mode in the vorpX menu (DEL key), but that doesn’t necessarily make much sense for every game. Diablo 3 for example has an isometric camera perspective looking down on the playfield, so it’s best best played in cinema mode. vorpX cannot change the actual game mechanics of a game.
However, for first person games, especially those with Direct VR (like Portal 2), the experience comes quite close to native VR games. Portal 2 does not run on a virtual cinema screen with vorpX, it takes you into the game exactly like a native VR game, even including basic roomscale capabilities in that particular case.
Good games to get started (all with Direct VR support) are listed below. Later, when you know a bit better what vorpX can and cannot do and how it works, you will also be able to bring other first person games close to that.
Borderlands 2
Borderlands Pre-Sequel
Skyrim (original DX9 version is usually the better choice)
Bioshock (DX9)
Bioshock 2 (DX9)
Bioshock Infinite
Dishonored
Fallout 3
Fallout New Vegas
Fallout 4
Portal
Portal 2
Left 4 Dead 2
Mirror’s Edge
Deus Ex Human Revolutions

Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2 Episode 1
Half-Life 2 Episode 2
Aliens Colonial Marines
Dear Esther (Source engine version)
The Stanley Parable
I tried this method in HL2 and Mirror’s Edge, but seems that they don’t support 8:9 aspect ratio. So stutters are here with me again.
Hi Jim,
Thanks for responding. I get this error with Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite, Mirror’s Edge and Alien Isolation. I got the same missing dll error as well. The workaround isn’t that great because most of the time I’m not quick enough to resume the watcher in time for it to properly hook. The Steam games that still work are Skyrim, The Forest, Borderlands 2 and Fallout 4. Thanks for the info about the log. I’ll let you know if I figure anything out.
Peace \/

Has anyone created a profile for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst that has geometry 3D working?
hi! i’ve just register after read you’re comment on cinema mod. you made me so close to buy vorpx cause everythings i’ve see on the net is a mix bag of happy and disappointed people. so basically , u use cinema to play in 3-d the game like sbs ( trine ) and it’s great. say yes , and i’ll be a vorpx user. i just want to play mirror’s edge in vr and lot of game in 3-d ( witcher 2 , crysis 2-3 ) with my rift cv-1 and i want to know if it’s hard to configure . anyway thx for reading and my bad for my english ;)
Performance obviously depends on your PC and the game resolution/details, but 40fps sound too low for Mirror’s Edge. That means the first one, not the one from this year which probably would run worse. For some games antialiasing can reduce frame rate, especially in Z3D mode, so that may be worth to check. Last time I checked the game quite a while ago I’m fairly certain that even G3D was a lot better even with the GTX970 that I used back than.
If you see bars, you can remove them by setting the ImageZoom to 1.0 and the aspect mode to “Pixel 1:1” on the image page of the vorpX ingame menu. With these two settings the screen is used fully. You may have to adjust the game’s field of view accordingly.
