I’m not really familiar with Plex unfortunately, but if you are using the Windows Store app, vorpX *might* not be able to hook into it directly anway. Windows store apps may run in a sandbox that shields them from hooking, so the desktop viewer might be the only option anyway.

    Sidenote:

There is an extra caveat in regard to video streaming, although it probably doesn’t apply to Plex. Windows has built-in video DRM, so the Netflix app for example only displays a black image when you try to capture its output window. Most other apps from big streaming services almost certainly behave the same. Unlikely though that Plex is affected by that.

If you want to watch protected content like Prime Video or Netflix your best bet is watching them in a web browser. If Chrome/Edge don’t work, try Firefox or vice versa. If none works, the streaming service doesn’t even allow capturing of (usually quality reduced) web browser streams.

At least one reason for hooking into games being better than using desktop capture (inevitable stutter due to monitor/headset refresh rate mismatch) is moot with the vorpX beta when using the virtual display driver it comes with, which automatically matches the headset refresh rate.

Other advantages remain however: being able to store game specific settings, more options for vorpX to handle tracking/input etc.

There is a profile called ‘SBS 3D Base’ downloadable from the cloud that you can try. Yoiu can use that for experiments. Can’t promise it will work for everything you throw at it, but it’s always worth a shot. vorpX will still display the warning if something else is hooked into a game too, but if that something doesn’t actually cause a fatal conflict, you can safely ignore the warning.

I tried the new beta last night with Dishonored. I really like the new “waiting room” with tips that you get on startup.

I missed the documentation on how to use the virtual monitor so I need to experiment more when I have time.

So DLSS3 just adds flickering? Pity, I had hoped it would increase FPS

I didnt know HAGS was incompatible with VR, what does it do that’s incompatible? Is it detrimental to VR performance to have it on? And is it a general problem or an issue specific to certain graphics cars?

The issue with using desktop capture instead of hooking is that vorpX in that case doesn’t have a clear idea when a game frame actual began rendering and also game and rendering FPS may not match under some circumstances. On top of that the Windows desktop capture API is fairly unstable in terms of frametime, i.e. some frames takes longer to arrive than others. All of that accounts to the stutter you may encounter when playing games with the desktop viewer. Affects any desktop capture, not just vorpX. That’s why even for playing in 2D hooking into a game is superior by far.

There may be a way to improve the situation, although probably at a price (added latency). I have some experiments in that respects on my mid-term to-do list, depending on what I find more annoying in the end those may or may not make it into release code.

Dishonored Definitive Edition is free on Epic Game Store. It has a perfect gameplay for VR and it works very well with VorpX! Go get it now!

Witness Kojima’s terrifing and beautiful world of Death Stranding from a whole new perspective

In this W.I.P experiment, we use vorpx and cheat engine to achieve the possiblity of viewing the fractured world through Sams eyes

Thanks for the feedback. I had to disable the VR optimized camera for the time being, wasn’t good enough yet for prime time. The camera currently moves just like the game’s camera moves normally, which makes looking around feel a bit weird. Will hopefully get this done for the full 23.1.0 release.

If you close the menu with a gamepad or motion controllers they are supposed to be saved automatically on close. Please let me know if that doesn’t work.

With keyboard/mouse you have to use the OK&SAVE button instead of just closing the menu. Slightly inconsistent, but makes it easier to experiment with settings before submitting them for good.

Almost certainly a virus scanner issue. Some of the more invasive ones can’t really be disabled or have several modules that have to be disabled separately. Never heard of Webroot SecureAnywhere, but that’s clearly the prime suspect here.

Try to exclude the vorpX program folder (may also have to be done in several places with some highly annoying AV programs). You might also want to consider switching to Windows Defender by simply uninstalling your third party AV. Defender since several years offers excellent protection without being as invasive as some third party solutions.

Hmm, it still seems to work for me. Well, I uploaded another profile you can try, the one marked (G3D). It has a few of the G3D fixes from Wildlands now. It’s not perfect, but playable. Z3D is also working with my setup.

There are a lot of settings in Breakpoint to experiment with, but from what I can tell, Z3D should work as long as you have Temporal Injection turned off (you can still keep AA on though), and you leave the Resolution Scaling at default 100. These two settings can break the depth for me if changed.

Some games are picky about being fullscreen or windowed for Z3D to work, but it is working for me either way here.

Anyhow, see how this profile goes. I used 1920×1440 for G3D with Extended FOV set to 64 in game, but use what you like.

Fired up this game and followed your instructions.. thank you
    – deleted battleye successfully and used your Cloud profile (no Uplay at my end, Ubisoft Connect only so I did not do anything here as it hooked)
    – it hooked okay and inside the game I had the choice of Z3D Normal and Adaptive (no experimental G3D as you mentioned)

but sadly no 3D at all even no Z3D although showing in Vorpx Menu.

    dont know why.
    Temporal injection AA was OFF
    (Oculus 2 headset)

Ps. I tried with Reshade and Superdepth 3D and it works well with Desktop Viewer, but prefer Vorpx yet that does not show any 3D for some reason.

Well, thats the thing, If Vorpx game is run with Z3 Adaptive or Normal – the slider does not make much sense as its not working anyway, vorpx detects the 3d Depth buffer and creates the 3D that way, thats my level of understanding..

Z Normal projects a deeper 3D vs Adaptive Ive heard (have not verified it in the game but thats how it seems to be)

Did not know the tip about the Antialiasing that it needs to be off for 3D. thanks for that. will experiment with it.

Funny, i love Bethesda games so much. I played Fallout 4 several times, many hundret of hours, loved Oblivion but for some stange reason i was through Skyrim within just a few days. Perhaps i expected abit too much from the game, perhaps i didnt like the same voices on every corner, donno. The graphics werent kicking as promised from reading through the web,too somehow.

    @dborosev
can you give us a list of those 30 Mods that work with vorpx ? ( May save some time with experimenting )

I recently played Metroid Prime 1 and it looked really, really good.
Prime 2 also looked nice, but there seems to be a bug that crashes the game at a specific point and its a known Dolphin issue.
Prime 3 I tested and it was ok, though I didnt play long.

I remember also trying Legacy of Kain Bloodomen 2 and it was just flat, no 3D at all.
