This is awesome can’t wait to play on my vive and try some of the newer profiles. Also hope that we get a lot of profile sharing going on.

I do want to post some caution to every one thinking VorpX is going to make all their favorite games prefect in VR.

I’ve been using VorpX for a while. (A few years on my DK2) while I think it’s worth the price (for me) you need to understand there are limitations.
First of all these games were not made for VR. Depending on the game this can cause huge issues, including not being able to finish because something breaks or won’t render properly for you to see it.

Also there can be major performance issues making the game unplayable in G3D mode (with positional tracking) you might need to switch to Z3d mode and that does not look as good in most games (theater mode is also an option)

A lot of games need mods (like GtA 5, skyrim) to make the game look proper in VR. Also FOV can be an issue and usually needs to be changed.
Also head tracking can some times might not work correctly since mouse look is programmed to move you when the mouse is moving (Star Wars battlefront)
It’s rare that you can launch VorpX and then the game and not need to tinker. You will most likely need to take some time to get games to work good in VR. It can been a pain, but a lot times your are rewarded with a pretty good VR experience. Other times you just need to give up and go into theater mode or not play the game in VR at all.

As long as you know what you are getting into and you have a least one game that works well with VorpX and VR it will be worth it.

    Hi All, Ralph

Not sure if anyone has already figured this out but figured I would post this just in case. If you are like me then G3D is really the only way to go, and there have been a few games that I’ve really wanted to have this available. Unfortunately some don’t even offer a geometry configuration at all, and until recently have been waiting in hope that they would be available in updates, but no such luck.

However, I’ve found that the copy profile function allows you to take any profile, even a fully functional one like Skyrim’s, and select an alternative .exe for the copy. I don’t recommend copying the actual game settings, less chance of it working if this is selected. I copied a profile which I know has working G3D and specified other game .exes (Myst: Masterpiece and Tesla Effect) and was able to, after a few tries, get Vorpx to hook using the copied profile and offer G3D on two games that normally do not provide any geometry reconstruction! Myst was a little shaky, crashed once, have to play around with that, but Tesla Effect is perfect! Going to try EGTT Rapture next now that its out.

Ralph, just wondering if it may be possible to do the same thing with Geometry reconstruction as has been done with positional tracking, i.e. enable at own risk type thing for games that it is not officially tested and confirmed working for. Maybe useful also to build in crash reporting on this, would provide a lot of field tested information that could be used to improve vorpx.

EVGA GTX Titan X OC to 1.2 ghz – watercooled
Asus GTX Titan – dedicated physx

Sorry for the triple post but by exiting out of Oculus App after Vorpx launches it I’m able to get audio of the Skyrim menu but no visual. Still get ERR: OculusRiftDevice: Oculus runtime init failed: -3001 : Couldn’t load LibOVRRT.

It seems that I have a headtracking problem which is different from the problem (and now fixed) problem that occurred in 16.1.1.

In Skyrim, when looking up and down, the position of my head in the game (and thus the pov) seems to go up or down in hight, while i am keeping my head at a steady hight. In short, looking up up or down seems to affect the vertical positional tracking. This is best noticeable when standing close to a large object.

I did not have this problem in previous versions when using DK2.

Anyone else have this problem and/or know a solution?

Just got vorpx for my DK2 today, version 16.1.2 I believe. Every time I try to launch a steam game I get this error:

ERR: OculusRiftDevice: Oculus runtime init failed: -3001 : Couldn’t load LibOVRRT.

I was able to launch games from Uplay with no issue really. Could definitely use some help, I really want to play Skyrim!

After learning how to go the injector route to install ENB, I was able to get it to work with Skyrim. Some helpful vids on youtube that explain how to set it up. It does hit the performance harder this way, but at least it works.

Generally Sweetfx is less performance hungry with games, but I’m not having luck using it with Vorpx. I’ve read that some can inject it through RadeonPro (witch is actually how I add sweetfx to my games normally), but I’ve had no luck getting Vorpx to agree with Radeonpro. Only if I disable API monitoring will Vorpx let me launch a game with Rpro. But doing that disables the sweetfx.

So my question to anyone here is how they got RadeonPro and sweetfx to work with Vorpx. Cheers.

First let me say thank you to Ralf for all you do. I am a long time lurker and long time owner. The experiences I have had due to VorpX allowing me to play some of my favorite games in VR is astonishing. My current favorites are Planetside 2, Fallout 4, ESO (it will work again I know it), Skyrim (of course), Dishonored, and the Metro series. Currently I am trying to get DayZ working and I thought I would try my luck and creating a new profile based on the ArmaII profile. When I attempt to link the .exe to the profile I get this message:
DayZ.exe is already assigned to the below profile(s):
    DayZ Standalone
You can only assign programs that are not already assigned.

I have looked but I cannot find a DayZ Standalone profile.
I’m sure I’m doing something wrong and am hoping you can point me in the right direction. However if you are currently working on ESO DX11 please do not stop, I can wait. :)
Thanks again. I don’t feel you get enough positive feedback here or on Reddit so I just wanted you to know I appreciate all you do.

Ive just got my CV1 luckily and booted up some Vorpxed games (Dishonoured looks fant-tastic!) but Im not getting audio in most games. Its odd though for example when I play Skyrim Im getting audio when its booting up (the dum…de de dum! sound) but from there on no audio whatsoever. Im using my own headphones rather than the oculus ones.

Ive fiddled with the settings in oculus home but no joy. Has anyone else had this issue or something similar at all?

    Thanks!

Skyrim works well with SKSE and with Steam in VorpX.
The only legal copy of Skyrim is the Steam version (unless maybe there are other distributors in other countries). So your non-Steam skyrim probably has a different exe, SKSE and different setup than VorpX is designed for.
I have never tried Morrowind However I did play Oblivion with VorpX using OBSE.
I had Non-Steam Oblivion which worked fine with OBSE and vorpX but strangely only if I did it straight from windows startup. If I did anything else like go online or play other games then VorpX would NOT work with OBSE and would just go to regular monitor. So I would just restart and play from startup. This was a pain for tweaking because I would have to reboot for each change if I exited for ini file :/
(this was with VorpX 0.9.1 and oculus 0.8)

In my ongoing research to bring all my old games to stereoscopic VR, i encountered a big question. I personally find that some games like Skyrim (because of the atrocious graphics) are only playable with an ENB.

Let’s forget for a moment the GPU requirements such a combination would bring. Since vorpX is an (?)injector and ENB is a DirectX injector, is there a way to use both at the same time? I know that ENB+SweetFX is possible, so maybe this works too?

I have been using DK2 and VorpX 16.1.2 and it seems to work quite well for Skyrim so far.
I do notice sometimes it does not attach and the game is displayed on my main monitor and my oculus has only a black screen. This has happened a few times and I found it worked if I just restarted the oculus service and vorpX.
I also got the “poor tracking quality” warning a few times in the oculus service but this does not seem to affect the game at all.

wait hold on, is steam the reliable way to launch games with vorpx? I have skyrim not from steam and that makes perfect sense, because it launches from TESV.exe but it wont launch from the SKSE launcher… This could be right.

Do you think it makes the same sense for morrowind?

Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with vorpX by reading the Qickstart guide and the Essential Game Hints guide in the help.

Your particular issue can be addressed by using vorpX’s EdgePeek mode (press middle mouse button), and in Skyrim also by scaling the game HUD in the vorpX ingame menu.

Please still read both guides mentioned above. They also contain other important information that will help you to get the most out of vorpX.

So I just received my CV1 today and wanted to mess around a bit with vorpX. Firing up Skyrim seems to present a resolution picture that is too big for the headset. So at the main menu, I can only barely see the menu items in the bottom right in peripheral view. I can’t even select them because they are just out of sight. If I manage to get into the game, it does the same thing as well. Messing with resolution settings doesn’t seem to do anything, either in game or via vorpX.

    Anyone have any ideas?
