Heys now that Star Citizen is hooking without crashing again can we get a profile for it ? There is some weirdness going on whereby I can’t make a copy of one of the cryengine/Far Cry ones and associate it with Star Citizen (like you used to be able to do back when it worked) because it is saying that StarCitizen.exe is already associated with a profile, but when you search through the list, there is no profile available to edit/delete (so I can use the farcry one instead). So can we either get a Star Citizen profile or delete the “hidden” one that appears to be in there somewhere, which is preventing star citizen being associated with a different profile ?
Hi Ralph
Happy Xmas and MANY thanks for the reply’s, it has updated
I maybe a little (OK a Lot) Thick, I just dont see how to get this to work, dont see the process? once I know I will need to then but Star Citizen and others to run VorpX with, but would like a little help on the actual process if possible?
I can’t seem to get Star Citizen to run in Cinema mode while running it full screen. Am I doing something wrong or will it just not run while it is full screen Works fine in windowed mode.
Star Citizen does not work unfortunately, it crashes on start since their huge engine upgrade last year. Hence there is a hidden profile for the purpose of disallowing user profiles altogether.
You can play the game using the vorpX desktop viewer. Just be aware that that’s a workaround and won’t provide a lot of vorpX’s normal functionality. Most importantly playing games with the desktop viewer doesn’t provide any stereo 3D.
Been following the guide to get SC 2.6.X to work with Vorpx.
It seems I cannot get it to really stick, so I figured if I added the StarCitizen.exe file to the profile it could potentially work.
The only problem is I get the following error.
The weird thing is that even if I delete the profile and try to make my own, it gives me the same error. But other than the cloud profile, there is no other profile that includes the Star Citizen.exe file.
Again, I’ve done this with and without the cloud profile, even on a fresh install with no cloud profiles imported.
Hi,
I’ll make just one thread for those two ideas…
TrackIR…
For games that does not support real VR, and so games we play in virtual theater mode, that would be great to have a trackIR emulation, so if the game supports trackIR, we could turn the head to turn the view.
Triple screen…
Also, for the same kind of games that does not support real VR, that would be great to be able to emulate a triple screen, to have a wider fov. Or maybe, is it possible to cheat the game with a big fov even if the game does not support that? Or not? Dunno.
The goal of those two things would be for instance to be able to play games that do not support VR like some flight or space sims (star citizen) with a big fov and a great screen and trackIR implementation.
Oh so that’s what the generic headset is for, I had difficulty understanding all the options I admit.
Fove don’t work as a normal windows monitor, I use big screen for that, so far it worked for vlc when I used the htc desire mode, I will test your suggestion. I don’t own a second graphic card so it should be ok this way.
About your suggestion to shutdown other monitors, I tested it just now and here is what happened
But at least that was a progress because vorpX hooked to the game after it’s launch.
I found out that steamVR compositor was unable to start, so since you said me vorpX use steamVR .. after fighting with win 10 desktop and windows moving out of the screen for some time, I finally managed to get it start, and have the game running in vorpX mode. Pfew ..
I must say that when you finally manage to configure it perfectly, it’s mindblowing.. for a game totally not intended for VR gameplay, it’s just perfect, I even found awesome to be able to precisely target with my head, so mouse for general turn and you target precisely with your head .. it come naturally and I would hope any FPS work like that now.
I Will try to get “Ghost In The Shell : First Assault” working (what other game could be more emblematic of VR than ghost in the shell ?) then work on arma3 (saw a config file already exist) the elder scrolls online.
Then I will have a try at Star Citizen (saw people using config for occulus but since I’m not using an occulus).
So in next post I try to write the steps I used to make it work.. hoping to ease the way for other users of Fove HMD.
Star Citizen is not supported, never was and probably never will be. There is a workaround to show it in the headset (in 2D) using the vorpX desktop viewer, but that is by no means anywhere close to what vorpX can do with supported games. You can find a tutorial video for that by searching for Star Citizen here on the forum.
Apart from that: what exactly does “cannot get it working” mean? Difficult to give any meaningful advice without knowing what actually happens (or not). Doesn’t it start, doesn’t it hook into games, are the games looking wrong? Are any error messages displayed?
In case it doesn’t start at all, the issue is almost certainly caused by a overzeleaous virus scanner.
In case it starts, but multiple games simply don’t show in the headset, it’s *very* likely that there is an injection conflict with some other program.
Hottest candidates are: virus scanners, any sort of CPU/GPU utilities, game video recording/streaming software, chat programs and generally everything that can show notifictations in games.
Best way to trouble shoot this is to disable/uninstall every program running in the background that would not be there after a fresh, Microsoft only Windows install.
If you can’t solve the issue this way, please try to start a few games, then create a trouble shoot data archive in the vorpX config app and send me this archive. I will then check whether I can find something that you may have overlooked.
I purchased VorpX for Fallout 4 & Star Citizen
Despite reading the Basic Trouble shooting and following advice I cannot get VorpX working. I have spent a couple of hours watching YouTube vids too to get ideas but still to no avail. Please Help
If you can’t connect to the cloud, there is some network issue between you and here. Either on your PC or somewhere in between. As much I would like to give some more concrete advice, all I can do is recommending to double and triple check every possible thing that may have an influence on your network connectivity.
If you are 100% certain that it’s nothing on your PC (which always is the most likely source of an issue in this regard), then it has to be something else in between you and our server (e.g. your router, a potential external firewall, or a network outage somewhere).
Star Citizen is not supported by vorpX and never was, there is an *unofficial* workaround to play it in 2D that may or may not work, but there is no support for that:
1. Start the vorpX desktop viewer
2. Disable the vorpX watcher (right click the tray icon, choose “Pause watcher”)
3. Play the game either windowed or “windowed fullscreen”, real fullscreen will not work this way.
4. Change the cinema mode options in vorpX to something more immersive (e.g. scene “None” with the screen moved closer.
5. Disable the “Lock Head Tracking” option in the virtual cinama options if you want head tracking to work.
