I tried Dellrifter22’s profile with System Shock Remake Demo (Epic Games).

It’s great. I prefer it over UEVR.

But it doesn’t hook with my complete game (Steam Version).

I tried Luka2099’s profile on the complete game, but it seems to crash the game. Especially when I try to put a very high 4:3 resolution. And I want a very high 4:3 resolution (I use a Reverb G2).

Hello, is there any way to launch a non-steam game using Vorpx? I’ve got game pass and EGS as well, games that I launch from those stores does not appear on Pico screen, nothing is happening.
I remember when I had quest 2 there was no such issue.
I’ve tried all of the troubleshooting tutorial, didn’t work.

    Hi, all
I’m totally confused. Pico forced the installation of the new “Pico Connect” in Pico4 HMD, which replaces the old and well-functioning “Pico Streaming Assistant”. It is not possible to install both applications at once in the HMD and that is a problem. Sadge(

What should the user do to make VorpX automatically run with the new version of “Pico Connect”, to make games the vertical and horizontal curvature of the screen work, and to aim using the player’s arms and not just the thumb-stick triggers like is in other low quality barrel-aged apps?

This is worked old “Pico Streaming Assistant” download link

This is worked “vorpX Desktop” 24.1.0 download link for all HMD’s

This is new “Pico Connect” download link

This is new SteamVR for “Pico Connect” download link (not working connect with VorpX Desktop)

What We doing wrong? Any correct help Ralf?

24.1 is superb. 95% of games work fine ( Pico4 + Virtual Desktop ). FSR clarity – make me happy .

    1) Please make normal PDF manual. Small hints don’t explain anything.

    2) Please destroy startup welcome screen ( i must press E every time ) for every game. Where is Option for this ? Ingame GUI dont work for this. Tips still appear, even if you turn it off.

    3) Please make normal move immersive screen and cinema – UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT. Example – Virtual Desktop and all others VR programms. So simple move screen. ALT+SPACE Center screen – work only for horizontal center. And i have big emtpy space below. And i must show UP for show all screen . Eyes get tired after looking up for an hour. Virtual Desktop, OpenXR, Steam Vr – don’t help. It is not possible to lower the screen.

    4) Please make Automaticaly insert Hooks or insert Hooks before start game. They need to be inserted always. And why does this happen after Launching and Exiting the game ? I think you can insert them immediately before launch. You can make settings in each profile – Automaticaly insert ( and destroy hooks ). And you will save a lot of time and problems.

    Thank you.

Cant exactly answer your question, but with my GTX1080ti on an I7 6700k, i play many games in 4k. It really depends on the game . Mainly DX9 games, where DX11/12 may become difficult in 4k. Though as sayd it depends on the game and the engine that is used. Unity DX11 performs mainly very well in DX11 4k on my system for example using HTC Vive Pro and SteamVR.

    @Ralph :
thank you for your detailed explanations.
Let’s hope future VR headsets won’t use SteamVR’s OpenXR.

So one thing I have to figure out :
    – does Varjo always use SteamVR’s OpenXR when it’s told to use OpenXR ?
    – or is it a problem I created on my PC ?

When I was trying to reuse Reverb G2, I did a few things. I uninstalled OpenXR. Maybe I don’t have the right version.

In Windows (11) installed “Applications” list, I have “OpenXR for Windows Mixed Reality”.
But I think I had “OpenXR” instead at the beginning (after installing Varjo Base, I don’t know before because I didn’t checked recently).

Maybe I should look a way to reinstall a working version of OpenXR, but I don’t know how to.
For now, Varjo support did not answered to me.

    @dellrifter22
    :
thank you for these informations !

Can you tell us what do you have in installed “Applications” list in Windows concerning OpenXR ?

I have the OpenXR error on Bioshock. But with SteamVR VorpX option it sometimes freeze, wich it never does with Reverb G2 OpenXR (so with recent games I don’t think it would works very well, and it doesn’t seems to with Metro serie).
Did you try Metro Exodus ? I didn’t try much games with Varjo for now.

Wich games would you recommand me to try, that you know it works with OpenXR ?

Varjo Base requires at least some portion of steamVR to run the light house tracking, but can still run apps in openXR mode, including vorpX.

There are 2 switches in Base: toggle openVR (steamVR), and toggle openXR. I always leave OpenXR toggled on, but only toggle openVR mode additionally to play native vr games on steam. But I turn it off again when I use vorpX set to openXR runtime, otherwise I get unplayable performance.

There are the occasional games that won’t start in vorpX openXR. You get an error. For those I need to run vorpX in steamVR mode, but these are usually older games, on rare occasion.

    Thank you for your answer.

There is a switch button in Varjo Base, and it set OpenXR to varjo runtime (according to openXR toolkit).

But it doesn’t solve my problem. I can’t run some old games with OpenXR. I can run Metro Exodus but I have strange issues I don’t usually have (with 3D, etc.).

So I guess it’s still using this broken Steam’s OpenXR.

I tried to reinstall SteamVR (and deleting some files) but it didn’t fixed the problem.

Varjo Aero doesn’t track without SteamVR (and base stations) so I can’t simply uninstall SteamVR.

So I guess I need to find a way to change back this option.

Just purchased the full version after trying to get the free one to work. game starts and then I get a VorpX error saying Steam games do not currently work in oculus mode. it tells me to change the headset type to steam vr in Vorpx config and the game crashes. when I change it to stream vr in Vorpx config, it then says it cant find a compatable headset… any ideas?

If the Varjo has its own OpenXR runtime, you have to make that the default one again. There probably is some button for that in the Varjo software.

BTW: Never let SteamVR make itself the default OpenXR runtime if your headset has its own. Steam’s OpenXR is not only incomplete (no 32bit version for older games at all), it’s also just a wrapper to SteamVR. So there is no reason to use it, not even for native SteamVR headsets, unless some app/game is OpenXR-exclusive.

So Reverb G2 works fine with OpenXR, but Varjo Aero is now “broken” with VorpX.

I can’t use OpenXR anymore. I think it’s because I choose an option in Steam to set SteamVR as default OpenXR or something like that (SteamVR asked me, and it was probably a mistake to say yes…but I don’t know how to revert it). Apparently, It prevents me to hook games with OpenXR option, even if SteamVR application is closed.

VorpX still hook games with SteamVR but it’s far less optimized and reliable. Sometimes it even freeze (even on very old games).

I would like to know how to hook again using OpenXR with Varjo Aero ?

Hi guys, I was hoping you could help me with the following:

I recently got a Quest 3 and downloaded CyberPunk 2077 on Steam. I have tried everything possible to play the game but it keeps on displaying in theatre mode (no head tracking) could you kindly tell me how to get this running properly or tell me how you get your games to run in VR? (I am using the Vorpx Cyberpunk vr mod) https://www.vorpx.com/10-years-vorpx-cyberpunk-vr-mod/

    Thank you in advance

@Ralf, thank you very much for giving consideration to my request, and letting me know you’ll consider it. It’s not often you hear a dev say they think about your suggestion.

My thoughts on the possible confusion.
    – I would leave it up to the user to do the mapping, rather then have defaults. This way should a game have tap+hold default functions, it wouldn’t cause an issue and its up to user to assign. (Star Trek online for example has this hidden in the game engine, and you have to setup through console commands). Alternatively, as an example to demo this feature to users, use something like the Fn Keys (or use AI to search if there is some keys which no game has used as tap+hold).

    – I can also see how double_tap could cause confusion, because if the single_tap is assigned to a game function that’s used frequently (God forbid someone assign a punch, or fire function), then double_tap could get triggered more then desired. This again is why I would simply have no default key binds assigned to these advanced functions, its a great available advanced feature, available to users/games that would benefit from it. If a button is not assigned either of these advanced functions, it disabled,

    – There are a few keybinding software, such as reWASD,( and I believe SteamInput), which has the ability to add tap+hold and/or double_tap to controller. You can review how they implemented the feature. (Don’t believe I can use these with VorpX)

-LOL, it actually just occurred to me, that The Witcher (and STO) both implemented double_tap and press+hold (although not as a secondary function trigger). WASD. Double tap either and you preform a roll/dodge. (Although it doesn’t work so well when WASD is assigned to Thumbstick)

Use WMR’s native OpenXR and set vorpX to OpenXR mode.

SteamVR is never necessary for vorpX with a WMR headset. It shouldn’t run at all actually. WMR’s native OpenXR implementation is always the best option for WMR headsets.

Unfortunately, I think its due to mods I have now, thats stopping the game with OpenXR… but I switched to Steam and set some settings down and it works fine, so, not sure why the .dlls are upsetting Vorpx on OpenXR but not on SteamVR for Elden Ring modded, but, it does. I cant explain why, no clue.

But, thats a solution I found for this particular situation, probably not applicable for most people, but it seems like SteamVR overlooks the dinput8.dll and dxgi.dll from my mods. So… Im cool with that as a solution.

Thanks for your time and continuing work on vorpx. Its been an awesome like decade now of playing so many games like this, I appreciate it
