    Thank you for your answer.

There is a switch button in Varjo Base, and it set OpenXR to varjo runtime (according to openXR toolkit).

But it doesn’t solve my problem. I can’t run some old games with OpenXR. I can run Metro Exodus but I have strange issues I don’t usually have (with 3D, etc.).

So I guess it’s still using this broken Steam’s OpenXR.

I tried to reinstall SteamVR (and deleting some files) but it didn’t fixed the problem.

Varjo Aero doesn’t track without SteamVR (and base stations) so I can’t simply uninstall SteamVR.

So I guess I need to find a way to change back this option.

Just purchased the full version after trying to get the free one to work. game starts and then I get a VorpX error saying Steam games do not currently work in oculus mode. it tells me to change the headset type to steam vr in Vorpx config and the game crashes. when I change it to stream vr in Vorpx config, it then says it cant find a compatable headset… any ideas?

If the Varjo has its own OpenXR runtime, you have to make that the default one again. There probably is some button for that in the Varjo software.

BTW: Never let SteamVR make itself the default OpenXR runtime if your headset has its own. Steam’s OpenXR is not only incomplete (no 32bit version for older games at all), it’s also just a wrapper to SteamVR. So there is no reason to use it, not even for native SteamVR headsets, unless some app/game is OpenXR-exclusive.

So Reverb G2 works fine with OpenXR, but Varjo Aero is now “broken” with VorpX.

I can’t use OpenXR anymore. I think it’s because I choose an option in Steam to set SteamVR as default OpenXR or something like that (SteamVR asked me, and it was probably a mistake to say yes…but I don’t know how to revert it). Apparently, It prevents me to hook games with OpenXR option, even if SteamVR application is closed.

VorpX still hook games with SteamVR but it’s far less optimized and reliable. Sometimes it even freeze (even on very old games).

I would like to know how to hook again using OpenXR with Varjo Aero ?

Hi guys, I was hoping you could help me with the following:

I recently got a Quest 3 and downloaded CyberPunk 2077 on Steam. I have tried everything possible to play the game but it keeps on displaying in theatre mode (no head tracking) could you kindly tell me how to get this running properly or tell me how you get your games to run in VR? (I am using the Vorpx Cyberpunk vr mod) https://www.vorpx.com/10-years-vorpx-cyberpunk-vr-mod/

    Thank you in advance

@Ralf, thank you very much for giving consideration to my request, and letting me know you’ll consider it. It’s not often you hear a dev say they think about your suggestion.

My thoughts on the possible confusion.
    – I would leave it up to the user to do the mapping, rather then have defaults. This way should a game have tap+hold default functions, it wouldn’t cause an issue and its up to user to assign. (Star Trek online for example has this hidden in the game engine, and you have to setup through console commands). Alternatively, as an example to demo this feature to users, use something like the Fn Keys (or use AI to search if there is some keys which no game has used as tap+hold).

    – I can also see how double_tap could cause confusion, because if the single_tap is assigned to a game function that’s used frequently (God forbid someone assign a punch, or fire function), then double_tap could get triggered more then desired. This again is why I would simply have no default key binds assigned to these advanced functions, its a great available advanced feature, available to users/games that would benefit from it. If a button is not assigned either of these advanced functions, it disabled,

    – There are a few keybinding software, such as reWASD,( and I believe SteamInput), which has the ability to add tap+hold and/or double_tap to controller. You can review how they implemented the feature. (Don’t believe I can use these with VorpX)

-LOL, it actually just occurred to me, that The Witcher (and STO) both implemented double_tap and press+hold (although not as a secondary function trigger). WASD. Double tap either and you preform a roll/dodge. (Although it doesn’t work so well when WASD is assigned to Thumbstick)

Use WMR’s native OpenXR and set vorpX to OpenXR mode.

SteamVR is never necessary for vorpX with a WMR headset. It shouldn’t run at all actually. WMR’s native OpenXR implementation is always the best option for WMR headsets.

Unfortunately, I think its due to mods I have now, thats stopping the game with OpenXR… but I switched to Steam and set some settings down and it works fine, so, not sure why the .dlls are upsetting Vorpx on OpenXR but not on SteamVR for Elden Ring modded, but, it does. I cant explain why, no clue.

But, thats a solution I found for this particular situation, probably not applicable for most people, but it seems like SteamVR overlooks the dinput8.dll and dxgi.dll from my mods. So… Im cool with that as a solution.

Thanks for your time and continuing work on vorpx. Its been an awesome like decade now of playing so many games like this, I appreciate it

Is there any way to have the game “Geometry Wars 3” be converted into 3D? Or similiar type of asteroid games in 3D??

I previously used a great program called Tridef 3D but unfortunately steam is causing a problem with it suddenly so I was thinking of getting VorpX. I do have a Oculus Rift S VR headset.. but I PREFER to just use my 3d monitor and 3d glasses for these types of asteroid games.

ANY info would be ENORMOUSLY appreciated.

I’m a newbie. I do have the Oculus Rift S headset. However, I PREFER to play some games in 3D on my 3D monitor using my minimal 3d glasses (passive 3d). I WAS using a program called “Tridef 3D” but I notice that Steam is causing a lot of problems now with the software.

Does VorpX allow me to play games in 3D WITHOUT using a VR headset — since I have a 3D monitor?

Is there a way to NOT have the mouse locked to the monitor? I know this is opposite of what most people want, but I use my other monitors through steamvr such as looking up guides while I’m playing a game. I could be wrong, but I’ve played games that don’t lock the mouse to the monitor that do when Vorpx is on, so I’m assuming Vorpx is doing it.

Heyo! I bought VorpX to run the Half Life 2 games, however I can’t seem to get any of them to work… I have an Index, and the issue is I click [Play], I see the “Attaching to hl2.exe” dialog (usually it goes away quickly, sometimes it sticks around until the help buttons pop up), and after a few seconds Steam thinks the game isn’t running anymore. I’ve tried looking through the forums to troubleshoot, but nothing has worked for me so far. I’ve tried:
    – Starting the game with SteamVR running
    – Starting the game without SteamVR running
    – Excluding TurnSignal as a program to “attach to”
    – Disabling TurnSignal on startup
    – Restarting VorpX/Steam (and starting VorpX first before Steam)
    – Running VorpX as administrator
    – Trying the default/alternate hooking option

(I don’t have any other VR programs like TurnSignal that are running on startup, btw)

Hopefully someone can guide me in the right direction. I’ve had VorpX for a little while but still don’t know a whole lot about how it works; I’ve only played Titanfall 2 with it since buying it. I also remember reading somewhere that HL2 is a bit of a special case when trying to work with it in VR. I’d appreciate any help from anyone who might know more than me!

I checked the game out on VorpX earlier today (already had it on Steam, and would be a great game to use with VorpX if it worked).

Unfortunately, with the current profiles, it’s one of those games where the mouse pointer is being rendered in a different place it’s actually at. Considering inventory management is a big and frequent part of P2, this issue pretty much renders the game unplayable. The 3D reconstruction works pretty well though, but the max FOV is still too small/zoomed in to be immersive regarldess if you are in “full VR” or in immersive screen mode.

It has potential but as of right now it’s not very practical to play.

Hello, i’ve bought VorpX today and I wanted to try out Cyberpunk 2077. I followed a guide how to install VorpX.

I configured VorpX, made a standard profile for Cybeprunk 2077 and selected Oculus Rift. I launched Cyberpunk 2077 and immediately received a message that Oculus software doesn’t support any directx 12 games.

So, I went back to the VorpX settings, changed it to SteamVR and relaunched the game. It immediately flatlines on the CD Projekt intro. I deleted Cyberpunk 2077 and re-install it and it was now working in SteamVR settings.

But the game looked VERY ugly and pixaleted and it was very zoomed it. The video told me to put the field of view on 100, but it was still very zoomed in.

I tried to changed some other settings, but now Cyberpunk 2077 flatlines all the time, no matter what settings I use or changed it back to default. I just can’t get it to work anymore, unless I re-intall the game again.

I do have a powerful computer, a I9 14900kF, RTX 4080 and 32gb DDR5 memory on 6000mhz and installed on a m.2 SSD. When I watch other people video’s, it looks so much better.

    Hi Vorpx lovers !

I’m a recent Vorpx user and tested it so far only with a few games, maybe not the best ones as they are not officially supported (Far Cry 5, Guardians of the Galaxy).
Although the result is great and in some cases really near to my 1080p physical display, letting me use the headset most of the time.
I play mostly in Immersive Screen for those games without head tracking, so basically, I mainly use the stereo-3D function as I would have done with Reshade+SuperDepth3D in the past.

My headset is Pico 4, I connect through Virtual Desktop, my GPU is RTX 3090.

I found that the best graphical quality was achieved with those settings :
    – Games resolution the higher possible (over 4k resolution I don’t find that much difference and performance decreases a lot)
    – Play through steamVR mode instead of just Generic 3D Display (then Virtual desktop SBS desktop mode). Because VD is capped at 1440p…
    – VD setting in Godlike (3120×3120), HEVC-10 codec, max bitrate.

What I would like to understand is how the render chain is made to find the “sweet spot”.

First step is the game itself : setting the higher resolution improves the quality and sharpness, making the use of AA unnecessary.
I would tend to say that here the higher is the better.
Then Vorpx :for example, in my case, if I don’t run the game through Vorpx virtual screen, then 4K resolution will be in fact DSR. Does Vorpx “grab” the output at 4K before downscaling to 1080p ? If yes, we benefit from DLDSR a bit. If not, it would be better to use custom 4K resolution on virtual screen.
Then SteamVR : renders at 3120×3120 because of VD Godlike setting. Don’t know if I should put a manual value there? Maybe the same as game resolution?
Then Virtual Desktop : takes the output from SteamVr, encodes it and sends to Headset, then decodes it in Standalone and updscales/downscales to headset resolution, with barrel distortion etc…

So, there is a whole chain of conversions involved there. I would like to get your advise on what could be a common guideline to set it up. Is simply the higher resolution at all steps the best if the computer can manage it? Or should we try to align everything on same value to avoid upscales/downscales etc?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hello dear VorpX Community,
so I found some games like Unity based ones (Digimon World Next Order) and e.g. Final Fantasy XII (all Steam Editions) support enabling G3D and it looks really awesome.
Except for the issue that on the right eye the water plane is not rendered (and in FFXII some icons too). It is always the right eye. The other 3D modes work perfectly but G3D still would look best if not for those errors. I tried shader authoring but couldnt find a shader and “render on both eyes” or sth comparable to that logic that worked. I also read somewhere that since VorpX changed from DX9 to DX11 G3D got broken in many games. Though I don’t know how to get an older version of VorpX with DX9 to test that out.
My question is now, is there anything I can do? Is this known and an update is planned? Is there any way I can get an old DX9 Version of VorpX?
My Setup is an RTX3060 with a Pico4 and using Virtual Desktop Streamer with SteamVR.
    Greetings rndmbt
