I worry about vorpx, Ralf didn’t tell us a plausible reason why we have still vorpx 21.3.2, and i guess Ralf has received a legal warning and Ralf is not allowed to update vorpx.

The same in Helixvision, it hasn’t got an update since June 2021, and they didnt’t want to tell me why ! Paul Dusler was the developer of the 3dfixmanager and this was the back end of Helixvision, and guess that he left the team last year.

And RealVR has a received a legal warning and has to delete all 2K game mods, too. He released the Cyberpunk, Eldenring, Dark Souls, Final Fantasy 7 and Ghost Wire Tokyo Mods in 2022, and that’s it. I think that he wants 130€ per year for this small list of games is ripping off the VR Fans.

I hope that the new Geo3D, Geo11, Depth3D will shake up the scene and we will survive this crisis !

Honestly if it comes to VR-exclusive titles, i´ve almost sold my vr-gear already years ago, leaving vr and not even looking back to it.

Just before selling my gear, i was actually trying to play games on a virtual theater screen and THAT was what got me hooked to VR after all, so basically i am playing all my games on vr-theater screens now. The only problem was, free software such as Bigscreen-Beta caused much troubles (stuttering, crashes etc.) so it was vorpX what saved me again, coz there haven´t been those issues.

So believe it or not, i am actually using my vr-goggles with almost every gaming-session today, on a daily basis of course.

Now if i can´t continue playing regular games with vorpX or even other similiar products, while being forced to play those few and actually great vr-exclusives, then VR is good as dead to me coz i will not keep my gear for those few vr-exclusives being released every couple of years.

Sad and tragic, such a thing would be.

PUBG uses a anticheat software that prevents other programs to hook into the game.

You can circumvent that by playing in borderless fullscreen mode with the vorpX desktop viewer instead. Obviously a relatively poor substitute for what vorpX can do if hooked into a game, but better than nothing.

I am following a tutorial exactly but can only get big screen. No VR. Imported cloud file (Vorpx), applied. Fired up Steam VR. The warning about VR playing on monitor comes up but Vorpx does not attach to game. Tried air link and cable. Using Direct x 12 setting in game. All I get is the game in theater mode. I also unchecked theater in games properties in Steam. Any Help? I finished DL 1 and have been looking forward to DL2 in VR. No mods yet.Thx.

For control inputs like joystick movement I believe vorpx just emulates an xbox controller (or keyboard and mouse, depending on the mode you set), and this works with most games since almost everything has xbox controller support. Similar to x360ce being used to turn inputs from any generic USB controller into xbox 360 inputs. In fact, x360ce might be exactly what you need; It would allow you to bind the button and axis inputs from your custom hardware to xbox 360 equivalents.

Be aware that multiplayer games with anti-cheat software may see controller emulation as a cheat.

I remember reading that someone was banned in destiny for using something like vorpx to play vr, I mean it has anticheat and considers vorpx a cheat software, so try at your own risk

Yes there are profiles for a few Cryengine games, like the Crysis games and Prey. I play War of Rights with this profile.

But you should know that online games that force an anti cheat service (BattlEye, Easy Anti Cheat) will block vorpX, so 3D injection is not possible. I too wish we could play Hunt Showdown. It seems awesome.

One less ideal option is to use the vorpX desktop viewer to play Showdown in your headset. It will not be in 3D, but it may enable mouse based head tracking, and you can size the screen to take up the full field of view of your headset.

I am not that much of a 3D-Fan and mostly bought vorpX to play on huge theater screens (free software doing the same causes too many troubles with several games) rather than having 3D effects, even if those effects can be really nice and add alot to the experience.

So far i am gettin more into that 3D thing over the time and seem to use this feature more often now. Just today i started RESIDENT EVIL 2 (the remake of course) again, but this time in 3D and wow….LOL…when i first saw it all with geometry i almost fell off my chair. SADLY my rig can´t handle it so it´s stuttering pretty bad, lowering graphic configurations made it a little better but i still wasn´t “great”.

But when i switched to Z3D it suddenly ran completely smooth and i was also able to use my standard graphic configuration rather than lowering most of it down to the minimum.

So my first realization: Yes! Geometry seems to suck alot of power, so it seems i should get a better rig asap!

    3D-Blu-Rays…hmmmm. Didn´t they say “3D is dead!”?

I am aware they still sell it in theaters, but as for now it looks like it is really dead when it comes to home entertainment, there are also lots of consumers review bombing blu-rays on amazon when they´re not released in 3D, guess those guys aren´t even aware they sit on abandoned hardware with dead 3d-blu-rays.

Somehow i hope, now with VR and especially apps like vorpX, they would re-animate 3D for (vr) home entertainment again some day.

What is the difference between Zadaptive and G3D? I have been reading posts that say Dx12 doesn’t work well such as this one…

There are a handful of supported DX12 games. Some that I know of: RDR2, Cyberpunk, Deus EX MD. But they’re either flat or Z3D.

For games that support mods there is a workaround to get G3D by using AFR (alternate frame rendering) where the mod changes camera position on each frame to match each eye. But since the game does not stop between frames each eye will see a slightly different scene (unless the mod can also hack timing). Still it’s a lot of work for each game. RDR2 is probably the only DX12 title with such a mod.

Other than that it might be possible if the game itself has built-in SBS support. However there is no SBS profile for DX12 that I know of.

So there is quite a lot of effort going into DX12. However my understanding is that G3D is not possible (at least not in the same way as for DX9/10/11). But you can hook into DX12 games and at the very least you get a flat screen in VR. For some you’ll also get Z3D or AFR (and maybe SBS in the future).

If the games only play on a flat screen, that is already possible without Vorpx using Vive Theatre mode or SteamVR or similar software.

Maybe petition isn’t the right word. But Could people interested contact beHAVIOUR software about allowing Dead By Daylight to whitelist VorpX so that we can play it in 3d. It’s really the only 2d game I still play, I think it would be amazing in vorpx.

Hell, I don’t think you even have to have to the game to request it, and you can log in with your FB or Google accounts.

If you haven’t played it, try it out. It’s a mutliplayer survival horror game with characters from different horror franchises. Halloween, Resident Evil, Saw, Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc. Tons of fun, and It feels like the perfect fit for VorpX, but currently their anticheat doesn’t allow it to run

Is it normal? I’m trying to play Outer Worlds with vorpx, through the PC Game Pass. I’ve heard many reports from the past about how this was actually a major hassle and tough to get working bc of the whole private folder thing Microsoft does…

Anyway, The game actually loaded up and played fine in VR..but the graphics are an atrocity. For whatever reason the graphics didn’t just fall off slightly, they looked like they went back about ten years.

Is there a setting I need to change or anything? Or is this drop off when switching to VR just what I should expect?

It’s playable but it’s actually a toss-up between just using the home theater on virtual desktop and playing it with clear graphics in 2D pancake mode on large home theater screen and the VR.. and I think the Virutal desktop home theater screen wins tbh.

Is there any way to get the graphics, and clarity a little closer to what I see on my laptop screen?

I have a brand new Alienware laptop with 3070

considering both cpu and motherboard have temperature cutoff at which point power is shutdown around 100C, i dont think its possible for a non modified/non damaged motherboard to reach melting point, but even without security, without an actual short circuit, cpu themself dont really consume enough electricity to warm the whole area to the point of melting, it would get pretty darn hot for sure

around 150C youll start getting lots of smoke from the board but it wont be melting yet, just burning the first layer.

Actual melting point would vary a bit, but its usually in the 200-250C. but at that point, your cpu would be long dead.

The cases i know off with motherboard physically melting were from short circuits on power bus, and not really from the hardware itself heating up during usage.

So I’ve recently purchased VorpX, at the moment waiting on the license key after sending in the request code (though possibly on the forum email and not the email I used to pay), however with the program installed, I have noticed that the VorpX service is running in Windows, which yes, does help with the program, though it leaves a concern.

If I leave the service running, would it hook into whatever I run that isn’t on the excluded programs list, or would I need to start the config or the Start VorpX program for it to begin hooking into games? I only ask cause I’ve been seeing it not play nice with EAC and BattleEye (most likely won’t play nice with COD’s Ricochet either), and I play multiple games using those, though I don’t intend to hook VorpX into them.

Really looking forward to testing it out with a bunch of other games, just want to make sure it doesn’t accidentally ban me in others when not in use.
