@ Nikolai: Beautiful, isn’t it? Although not really my cup of tea usually some of these sidescroller/platform games are really fascinating with added stereo 3d depth. Ori and the Blind Forest, Unravel or Inside are also great.
All more than worth a try for everyone who likes to (maybe) be surprised by something they wouldn’t consider obvious vorpX candidates normally.
Not reproducible here, works fine with both regular and alternative hooking. Please check for programs on your PC that might interfere with hooking: first and foremost virus scanners, also any CPU/GPU utility, video recording/streaming apps, messengers and generally everything that can show notifications in games.
If hooking issues suddenly appear after a vorpX update, your virus scanner is the most likely candidate. Might make sense to exclude the vorpX program folder to avoid potential issues in that regard.
Just in case: if you are using a third party AV program, you should consider to switch to Windows Defender. It’s just as good as the best third party AV apps these days, but less invasive and less likely to cause problems. On Windows 10 Windows Defender kicks in automatically when you uninstall a third party AV program.
The worst thing that might happen is that a handful won’t work right anymore, so no need to check everything. Probably not even that, profile backwards compatibility is handled extremely carefully. I just can’t be 100% sure for every potential edge case this time unfortunately.
Resetting your Steam password shouldn’t be much of a problem.
Hi guys,
Just has VorpX update this morning and I can no longer play M&B Warband. The game loads fine but it does not recognize mouse clicks anymore. I’m stuck in the title screen. Everything worked fine before the update yesterday.
I saw something in the release notes about “blurry hand” being fixed for Resident Evil 7? What I remember last time I played the game with vorpx is once you get a knife, you can see your hand holding the knife but it looks like it has been split in two. Is this what was fixed? Can’t way to play through the game if it is!
Alright, so, I’ve played around a BUNCH with ME:A to see if I could skirt the Hazy effect. Mostly it had to do with texture related processing, as far as I could tell. I cut everything down to low (and of course, I turned all post-processing and Anti-aliasing off, and kept them off), and started up from there. I think if you’ll do the same, you’ll immediately see better clarity. Don’t forget to adjust sharpness in the VorpX ingame menu (del key) as well. I got it looking pretty good, well enough that during normal game play any possible haziness is dismissible if present at all. Anyway, once you actually talk to a character, they are crystal clear anyway.
This update is great! I tried out a few games and I think there is a definite overall improvement. I tried out Prey, and everything is much better. Even the Z-Adaptive looks better! And the G3D is spectacular. Every-once-and-a-while, when I’m playing, I just get blown away by how awesome VorpX works, and the new release was another opportunity to really be impressed. I know I’ve said it before, but I mean it that you’ve made games really worth playing with VorpX. Awesome, thanks! =D
Oh! And I can’t wait to try Elex! That’s going to be awesome in G3D… so much to do! Lol.
Excited to try the new g3d option with Battlefront II but now vorpx doesn’t hook with the game. No error message, no nothing, the vorpx logo doesn’t even show up with the game. It’s like it doesn’t see it anymore.
Help?
EDIT: Switched Origin to “offline” mode and then the Vorpx logo showed up when I started the game, but …. nothing happened. Game didn’t even start. Something is screwed up either with vorpx or with Origin. I hate this stupid DRM shit like Origin and my guess is it is the problem.
EDIT AGAIN: Finally got it working after several tries. I do think it is Origin and all the shit it lays on top of the game … not to mention if I want to quit the game, it never just quits to the desktop right away like most games, but it takes FIVE MINUTES to shut down, because Origin sucks …
Ok, after trying something new I’ve found a solution. but before I get into that- what about the white lines I’d mentioned? Is that problem intrinsic to vorpx itself regardless of whatever game you’re using it with? Or is there something that can make this issue more prevalent?
Anyways…
Yes, while the FOV discrepancy in edgePeek still remains, the “distance” issue I was having while bringing up the pipboy was exacerbated by another setting that adjusts edgePeek scale. Setting it larger brings the image “closer” and vice versa.
While edgePeek has its uses (Using it in conjunction w/ the pipboy has been recommended numerous times on these forums), after doing some testing I’ve found the disable/ enable stereo 3D setting to be much more effective at eliminating the “double screen” issue while also mitigating any FOV issues like I was having. This setting can be configured via the Vorpx Config application
To accomplish this, simply bind the corresponding hot-key to your pipboy button (button re-mapping software is required for controllers).
Setting an exact 4:3 resolution (e.g. 1600×1200) should resolve the FOV flicker normally. Also try to run the game windowed if you are running it fullscreen now or vice versa. Some occasional weapon flicker might remain unfortunately.
Also make sure that nothing is running in the background that is taxing your CPU. DirectVR requires an entire core on its own for this game. On mid-range quad core systems without hyper threading (i5), or even worse laptops, that might get difficult if something is running in the background that also uses many CPU cycles.
Since DirectVR apparently didn’t work for you before, disabling it brings you back to exactly the state you had before. Not sure why you want that, but of course you can do it.
Again: FOV has always been handled by DirectVR. If you could change it in an .ini before, nothing was working fine. In fact everything was broken in that case. You can however go back to that broken state by disabling DirectVR if you prefer that.
There may be a faint outline around characters under certain conditions, but it shouldn’t be distracting in any way with default settings.
In general: please always first check whether anything you consider broken also appears broken with default settings. Defaults are usually chosen carefully. Most of the time it’s best not to change them.
No, there isn’t, sorry. I cannot provide support for multipe versions. If you had to adjust the FOV in an .ini file before, nothing worked fine. FOV is handled by DirectVR for years. You can adjust the the weapon FOV independently from the world FOV in the vorpX menu if you think that makes sense.
Is there any way I can roll back to 18.3.2?
Everything was literally working fine before!
One thing I noticed in ME:A in G3D, is that the characters seem to have multiple overlaid forms, almost like there are 3+ models of each, slightly offset from each other and viewed with different eyes. Give a hazy effect, especially on the main character.
