Thanks Ogrescar, I think that 3080 is not powerful enough..
I tried it with my RiftS on my other PC (6700k rtx3070) and I was getting 70+FPS

It seems that resolution bump + refresh rate bump + link overhead.. takes a toll even on 3080
On top it seems that v12 “reworked mod” also has a hit on performance

I installed older version of “reworked” and I’m getting 45-50fps now at 2880×2160, it still dips to 39-40 sometimes, but it looks beautiful and is playable

That’s close to the performance I get with my RTX2060 on ultra settings. Given that a 3080 is supposed to have an effective speed around 2.2 that of a 2060, I’d expect better performance too.

I use a Rift-S, not Quest2 so maybe an issue with the Link or the GPU is not being utilized fully.

A couple weeks ago I was playing HL2 and everything was working as expected, but now when I attempt a direct vr scan it always fails. Other games, including Black Mesa, still scan just fine. Between then and now my computer installed some windows updates and SteamVR self-updated.

After I launch HL2 and it appears in the headset I change the resolution in the settings to 2880×2160 full screen and load a saved game.

    Windows 10 1909 18363.1316
    SteamVR 1.15.19

How’s going? I am using Vorpx about 1-2 years and while fixing problems, learning about the tool, tracking perfect settings to play games in G3D, I found out solutions for those who do not want to play in low resolution while VR’ing.

I’d to share with the users and the owner how I play G3D at STR 1.0 (usually 2.0) up to 5.0 (making things smaller/super rounded) getting 80+ FPS yet in higher definition (almost as playing 1440p/4k).

    I do a i7 6700 and a GTX 1070;
    I use Pimax 5k+ with larger FoV;

First, such trick can be used not only for Vorpx, but all VR games. Secondly, since I’ve experienced and still am ATM, such improve, I’d need Ralf’s or anyone explanation is what am saying is right or not, feel free to correct me.

    Pimax users>

In Pitool, w/e you do, as begin, use Render Quality = 1.0. The FoV and reprojection can be large/On

Go in SteamVR’s settings right clicking in the menu->Config-> go in tab “general” or the first tab, set “Render Quality” to manual. A slider will poop up where you can increase SteamVR’s Default 25%/50% up to 400, indicating just below the new resolution the supersampling will apply. Usually, with Pimax RQ = 1.0, I use it at 75%/100%, increasing my pixel’s density first, at 50%, from 2160x up to 3048x ou 5560×2632. You can test lower or higher resolution increment, depending of the game. If you go in the tab “Video” There’s the option of costumazing SS for every game listed in Steam. But if doing so, you have to equilibrate it with the Render Quality in “Geral” said above.

In the game, set the resolution down of your choice, up to 1440×810 in 16:9 or any below or equal 1080p (1920×1080) depending your graphics can go higher and, test it out.

The supersampling in SteamVR works great to compensate lower resolution judders and/o the aspect of low resolution we are bothered with, almost making it a native 1440p/4k game, plus, you’re able to play any game with G3D on, at 1.0 or higher (I am used to set it 2.0) with high definition and high FPS.

Extra adjusts I am used to do in-game, in the vorpx menu (DEL)

    In the “Image Settings” Tab:
    ——
Sharpen Amount> I set it from 0 to 1.0 or higher in order to bring sharpness to the game. You can alter brightness a little if you wish too
    ——
    In the “Display Settings” Tab:
    ——
    Headset Sync: “Safe”.
Device (Fast) and fast makes my game stutter/lag, at least with my Pimax headset
    ——
In the “Direct VR Settings” Tab:
    ——-
    Change Game Settings> “Off”
I believe Vorpx will pick resolution/graphic settings according your spec and-or what your machine can handle yet keeping decent framerate. I haven’t tested keeping it on but in case you’re setting your own resolutions/image qualities.
    ——

Playing with lower resolutions allows you to turn all or almost all game’s quality settings to max/high/ultra yet SteamVR supersampling allowing you to see the image as good as playing in 1440 or 4k, in the Headset. Play FullVR or Immersive Modes in G3D, with similar quality at 70-100 FPS

Tip: Some games and VR games may not like high SteamVR SS settings due either they starting at a default quality/resolution or due them VR native games having high resolutions set by the player. Care in not setting super high values or test it out and do not forget you’ve SS beyond the default. That’s possible supersampling each game you have, as explained above, case you wish doing this only with X or Y game/application.

Any other tip and-or suggestion/correction is welcome

    /Cheers

I tried setting up the game with superdepth3d, but even with msaa disabled, it doesn’t have a usable depth buffer. Maybe g3d is still possible, but I’d say it’s a long shot.

I just dont see how it could be that hard to “unlock” the camera view and make it function in 3D.. especially for the Ralphster.. I wonder if hes tried as I have a feeling if h did he could figure it out eventually.. hes worked wonders lol

Please everyone check out VPX in VR, its awesome. not all but most tables work very well in VR and pancake. Some tables even have VR rooms around them (just like FX2 VR). It really is incredible. I will help anyone out who needs it.

I have tried it! I love it but I cant get it running again.. man.. it sucks..

The possible good news is guys, there’s every chance of FX3 coming native to VR this year.

Hopefully this time they won’t kill it stone dead and release it standalone like with FX2VR. None of my pinball friends will consider FX3 in VR if they have to rebuy all the tables.

vorpX works a bit different than native VR apps. First the game gets rendered at its own resolution, then vorpX sends it to the headset. If you apply supersampling in SteamVR only the second step would be affected, not the actual game. Actually it isn’t though since vorpX sets a supersampling value itself based on the game resolution.

What you want to do to get a crisper image is rendering the actual game at a higher resolution. Either by selecting a higher res in the game options or (in games where vorpX can do that) on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu. For Bioshock Infinite the latter applies. Whenever vorpX can set the resolution, you see an according hint in the top/left corner of the game window.

Hint: Check the ‘Custom Resolutions’ section in the vorpX help to add resolutions higher than your monitor allows.

Wow! This made so much of a difference. You just made me love the product even more! If you don’t mind, a few other questions:
    1. How do I save my Vorpx config settings? Every-time I exit the game, I need to reconfig the settings.
    2. I read that for a FullVr experience – 4:3 aspect ratio is the best. Is that true? Or I need to tweak and find what best setting is per game? How about 16:9 since it offers better resolution.
    3. I’m guessing nothing stops me from creating a custom resolution greater than 3840×2400? If yes, any resolution multiplier that I need to keep in mind?

After 17 hours playing in Night City, mainly sidequests, i’m fed up with this catastrophic graphic engine. The game is a work of art, but the technology behind that is junk !

To prevent most of the Frame Rate Drops, i have to reduce the resolution and graphic settings more than it would be necessary most of the time of the game.

The only way to keep a very high pixel density is to choose a 1:1 resolution like 1920×1920, 2160×2160 or 2400×2400, the game supports that in borderless window without any restrictions, but Z3D is flickering and has other visual problems.

    @Ralf

May you please check 1:1 resolutions and tell me what i’m doing wrong ?

Sorry to bother you Ralf, but I thought I should report this. I have a mouse with two buttons on the left side; as it’s usually the case, the default functions for those buttons are ‘forward’ and ‘backward’ respectively to quickly switch between folders or webpages in history. I had the edge peek hotkey set to the backward key on the mouse in order to access it instantly and not take up a key or combination on the keyboard, but apparently the newer versions don’t trigger it with said key. When setting the backward key in the VorpX configuration app it shows up as Mouse X2 in case you need another reference. Happy holidays by the way.

I will look into it, can confirm that Mouse X1/X2 for some reason don’t do anything. No idea why currently, but shouldn’t be too hard to fix. For the time being remapping to any keyboard key instead should do the trick, you probably already did that.

    90hz in G2 and 45fps limit in CP77 will work, too !

Fluidsync simply double the fps by upscaling, and will work in 60/120, too. But you need nearly stable 60fps to get stable 120fps with Fluidsync

In Cyberpunk with average 40-45fps, FluidSync at 45/90 is the best choice.

Press ALT + F to benchmark your fps.

(If you can’t get stable 90fps, than reduce the resolution to 2880×2160, that is very sharpen, too !)

Patch 1.05 solved my crashes. I played some hours in FullVR and the Z3D is incredible, very close to G3D. The NPCs are living, it is not comparable to Assassins Creed in Z3D and Third Person. Wow, thank you very much to Ralf and the vorpx community !

For those who own a RTX 3000 or Big Navi
    my recommendations in 40fps Gaming:

    Graphic settings:
    Res. 3200×2400
    FOV 135
    Medium and High Mixed
    Raytracing on + Medium
    DLSS Ultra Performance

    vorpx:
    85% Zoom
    Sharpen 2.00
    Z3D 3.00
    Edge Peak 3D 50%
    Edge Peak Driving
    Fluidsync 40/80

I stopped playing because of many crashes, too. I will try i again when patch 1.05 is released for PC. I will try to solve the Problem by trial and error in the game settings, Nvidia drivers and Mainboard Bios settings. With my Hardware Specs (Ryzen 7 + RTX 3080) the most important things are to clean all CP77 related files on the SSD and do a clean boot of Windows and do a fresh install of the game without any manual changes in the settings and let Geforce Experience choose the settings of the game. Mods and extra FOV settings are crashing every 10 Minutes. In 4:3 or 16:10 i have the best results in exclusive Fullscreen and 2880×2160 and 3456×2160 until today. I wish that the patch 1.05 will prevent my crashes. All of my numerous other games working decent !
