What hardware specs and headset are you using?

I’m on Rift CV1 using vorpX in steamVR mode with an rtx2080ti.

I tested the new Awakening update tonight on the newest vorpX, and things are still working on my end. Except for the first person mod code, that now returns an unknown command error sadly. Zoom in all the way with shooter camera and you get pretty close to a first person view.

I do sometimes get a crash report on first launch and have to try a second time. I’m also using mostly low settings in game to help performance. I have both GPU and CPU sliders set just below medium. If I crank them up to high I go from about 50fps to 25fps at the academy.

The game doesn’t like if I minimize in fullscreen mode (can’t renter game), so setting to Windowed Maximized helps.

While I was testing, I made some more adjustments to the profile’s scale for fullVR. You can redownload from the cloud if you wish. You may still encounter a random lighting or texture glitch here and there.

I set scale and HUD depth settings the way I like them, but you can adjust them to your liking in the delete key menu. I think fullVR mode is the best looking, and worth the extra effort to move your desired HUD elements into view with F12. Use edgepeek key for glancing at out-of-sight HUD.

I hope lowering some graphic settings can get you playing well enough. Game looks pretty neat in large scale 3D. Don’t expect native VR, but not too far from.

Let us know how it goes and if it ends up on your podcast. Would be fun to hear about.

I’m trying to add other resolutions. In the control panel of Nvidia, for example I need some 4:3 resolutions that are higher. 3200×2400 being one. However, it fails the “test” phase and just brings me back after a black screen. Is there a way to add un-supported resolutions to the list? I’m on a 4k/60hz monitor but I thought you can just add un-supported res. I could swear it just worked before.

This is still somewhat experimental and not yet complete, but is already a good immersive gaming experience. I’m hoping the new tools coming later might iron out the remaining artifacts. There are alternative Z3D profiles available if you prefer.

    Far Cry 5 (G3D)

G3D is working as intended across all world objects. It’s the terrain textures and shadows that do not yet align correctly. To mitigate eyestrain, I’ve reduced terrain textures to their most basic. Works well enough.

I wish FOV in vehicles wasn’t so narrow, but I’ve adjusted EdgePeek to be more suitable for driving. Running around and shooting feel good though.

**You’ll first need a working EAC bypass to hook this game, unfortunately. Please use Offline only.

    – use a 16:9 resolution (2560×1440)
    – set FOV to 109 in game’s Advanced Graphics settings
    – set Anti Aliasing and Motion Blur to OFF
    – Low Graphics settings recommended for best performance

    *Use EdgePeek in vehicles
*Some shadow and pixelated artifacts remain
*FOV Enhancement will separate the terrain
    *FullVR/Immersive modes optimized for Rift
    *Cinema mode optimized for Pimax8k

is a i5-7600, rtx2080 and 16GB Ram good enough to play games like Resident Evil 2 or Metro Exodus in G3D and 3k Resolution ? What is more important for G3D, CPU or GPU ?

Just purchased VorpX, downloaded it and started the install. Can’t even install it. I receive an error message at the “Ready to Install” portion of the setup.

An error box pops up and says, “Internal Error: Failed to expand shell folder constant “userdocs””

Hi, just some scene demos for G3d.
Please do the same settings as I do otherwise it wont work (or isnt tested)! Also I have VorpX control as administrator checked in the Vorpx general settings.
I put all the demos into 1 profile all have 5.0 strength. I named them Demopack part1 . Link for the demos in the description.

Would wait coz Gta 5 looks only good from 1440p on. So rtx2080ti+i7 9900 is recommended in VorpX, I dont know if even thats enough ? Wait 2 more years ;)

Hmm, I don’t know what to tell you other than make sure your vorpX is at current 19.2.1 (most important) and that in game dynamic resolution is OFF and resolution scaling is at 1. These two settings seem to be the only ones that can break Z3D for me.

Also try the usual tricks of changing resolution, alt tabbing out and back in, and switching between fullscreen and windowed.

I’m playing fullscreen with native res of 2560×1440 with TAA, but doens’t seem to matter if I change any of these. SteamVR rtx2080ti.

If you havn’t already, might be worth assigning a fresh copy of FC Primal profile, in case your FC5 one is somehow corrupt. Maybe resetting FC5 game settings to default also.

Hi, Ralf wrote in another thread that he is aware of this problem and he is looking for a solution just recently, so even its hard we need a little patience;)
Maybe there also some legal issues if you provide profiles for games ?

Thanks moadepht ☺ I couldn’t find a thread about this, do you have a link to it? What would some of the legal issues be?

Wondering if anyone knows what in-game resolution is best to set using vorpx for Reverb. Vorpx implies 4:3 is best resolution for Vive, but that’s on a 1080x1200x2. So, I’m kinda confused what would be optimal for 2160x2160x2. If a hypothetical 1920×1440 is good for Vive which is 4:3, than should the comparable Reverb be 4/3*2160 x 2160 or maybe 2160 x 2160*3/4? I have been trying a bunch of different custom resolutions, but would like to know what is the implied optimal is rather than guessing and checking. Thank you!

    Pinball FX2

Probably the best Pinball game for PC ever. Huge ammount of (pay and demo) tables available, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Alien Isolation, Walking Dead, Star Wars and many others. Looking awesone with VorpX.

    – optimized for Cinema Modes
    – Lower 3D Strength when viewing table very close
    – Profile available at the cloud

    Some screenshots speak for themselves.

    Hi Ralf and other
I have some blurry issue with vorpx running on pimax 5k

    here is my setting:
    pitool : 1.0.1.132
    render quality : 1.5
    refresh rate : 90 hz
    steamvr : steamvr beta 1.5.7
    nvidia gtx970 driver 430.86

it seem before vorpx 19.2.0.1 everything works great, but now after update 19.2.0.1 and 19.2.0.2, the vorpx itself (in game menu, cinema world look blurry and jaggy) looks blurry and unstable, as if it is run on low resolution thus affecting the game inside of it no matter how high i set the in game resolution, in this case i even set the in game resolution up to 3840×2400 for my pimax 5k and vorpx and the game still look blurry and jagged, unlike previous version of vorpx.

it is kind of hard to explain but it seem as if vorpx itself doesn’t follow steamvr manual application resolution and revert to lowest resolution instead of high resolution.

as for the setamvr home and steam vr application such as vrchat etc etc, it looks very sharp in pimax 5k, it just the vorpx that run on low res.

any idea how to solved this, it is kind of strange this issue occur now. maybe i missed some setting or something ?

    regards
    Aswin

vorpX seems to accept about any resolution you like.

    I like to make steps of 0.1 for testing. (1920 x 1.1 = 2112 and 1440 x 1.1 = 1580 gives me a step up to 2112×1580).
Or steps of 0.5 might scale better to the hmd. (1920×1440 x 1.5 = 2880×2160)

Add some 10 – 20 custom resolutions to your graphics driver, and they should show up in most of your games to choose from. Then just find which looks the best within your performance margin.

Well of course stereoscopic 3D and Direct VR FOV with tracking are gonna eat some performance.
Stereoscopic alone is the native resolution x2, 3D requires firepower period!!!
VorpX still eats less fps than my 3D Vision setup.
And please don’t use GTAV as any sort of benchmark…the game just isn’t optimized nor meant for VR nor 3D Vision really.

I’m running on a beefy 1080ti/8700k combo though
