Ralf, I hope you can give me the solution to this problem.
How can I start Metroexodus.exe with a profile for dx 12? not being able to modify the executable within the official profile. Thank you!

I recently played Metroid Prime 1 and it looked really, really good.
Prime 2 also looked nice, but there seems to be a bug that crashes the game at a specific point and its a known Dolphin issue.
Prime 3 I tested and it was ok, though I didnt play long.

I remember also trying Legacy of Kain Bloodomen 2 and it was just flat, no 3D at all.

I changed it to OpenXR, uninstalled SteamVR and that seemed to have some success. For once, I was able to play for longer than 10 minutes but this is only without FidelityFX or a custom resolution. With a high custom resolution the game runs smoothly for 4-5 minutes but then my headset/game crashes but honestly, I’m not sure which one is crashing, the headset just blacks out with a horizontal line in the center. One other problem that I’ve been facing from the start is that vorpX fails to hook most of the time and then gives me a blackscreen until I force close Metro by Task Manager (I can’t even tab out or see task manager. I just use the arrow keys and go to the top most executable and end tasks blindly) I could only really get vorpX to hook to Metro when it says that the last launch was unsuccessful (ending it via Task Manager) and it prompts me to use safe mode then after a few seconds I see vorpX saying that it is attaching to Metro while I’m still on that prompt, click no and then it finally works. I’ve also tried the alternative hooking method but it didn’t work

I just got vorpX today and I was really enjoying it while it worked but now I’m constantly greeted by crashes. I am currently running in Immersive mode and I’m using a HP Reverb G2 with a 1080 Ti. With Full VR it always crashes no matter the setting and when in Immersive mode, G3D, Z-Normal or Z-Adaptive, it crashes the game the moment I’m in the world and then I’m back straight to SteamVR. Any way to solve this? I quite enjoy Full VR and FidelityFX (I can’t play without FidelityFX, wayy too blurry without) but it looks like the game doesn’t run stable no matter what I do.

It would devastate me knowing I just spent $47 to get vorpX just for it to be of no use in my system

    Hi there,

I bought Vorpx about 6 weeks ago and got to say it is amazing. However, I am having issues with Metro 2033 Redux because it has strange distortions in the lower and the right part of the image. I think it has something to do with the fov but I am not sure. I tried changing the resolution, the render methode, image zoom and I tried to change the fov in the config file of the game but it is changed back to default affter starting the game and it has no effekt. Any help would be much appreciated. Hope you have any Idea how to fix this. Besides that it runs and works perfectly with vorpx. Thanky you so much for your help.

by SuperDepth3D you mean Reshade? I also like to use that program. Recently played Resident Evil 7 and Blair Witch with it and it ran perfectly. My brother is currently playing Metro Exodus with it and is also very satisfied.

But Tridef3D is also a very good alternative. Hellblade was a dream with it, or Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Alien Isolation and Outlast.

What games would you recommend for VorpX?
Fallout3 is already a bit too old. I loved the game back then :)

I’m afraid I didn’t understand how you do that with the zipped backups. I have never heard of such a thing. I would like to test but I have to understand that first. How can I create this .zip?

I have a BenQ W2700. I’ve been using 3D since I saw Avatar in theaters in 2009. To this day I still love this technology :)

My first projector was a Benq w1070+
It could only do 1080p but I played Hellblade with it back then. With DSR you could select a 4K resolution and it ran perfectly with Tridef. You just need the right profile for it.

I would call dx12 functionality very limited right now. We only have a handful of official dx12 profiles to try from, which makes it risky to pick up any new games at full price.

I for example wanted to play AC Valhalla and Far Cry 6, but no existing dx12 profile provided working Z3D, only flat. I have stopped buying new because of this.

G3D (true 3D) is not even coded for dx12 yet. Only about 3 specific dx12 games have specialized mods for alternate eye rendering to imitate G3D visuals.

So if you’re lucky, Metro Enhanced with ray tracing and Z3D is possible yes (3D enough to convince your brain that the general scene has depth and space), but if not lucky, you’ll see only a flat image.

One more thing to note is that you will need to push high resolutions to gain a satisfactory image in a vr headset, so make sure your pc can run the game at least 50+fps @ 4k+ with ray tracing on.

Not trying to discourage you, just being realistic. You might have luck with some games, and you might not with others.

Does Vorpx work with Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and other DX12 games like Cyberpunk 2077 using raytracing? Thank you.

    That’s good news!

By “ok” do you mean everything works fine, as expected? Or have you noticed any minor problems when using it with vorpX?

I’m jealous :) … I want to try one of these. I think the unique FOV shape would be ideal for most vorpX fullVR games.

Yeh everything works as expected. No problems. Lol at being jealous :) no doubt in the not too distant future the Aeros display will be equalled or even bettered in new upcoming hmd’s which won’t be $2k so most people will get to experience it.

Thank you for the update! Can you give any examples of games that you’ve played in Vorpx with the Aero that look way better than the Reverb G2? Are you able to use the foveated rendering with Vorpx? Do you notice you get higher frame rates? Any general positive reactions to the Aero that you can share so we can vicariously enjoy this experience with you?

The games i’ve been playing recently with Vorpx are the Fallout series, Alien Colonial Marines, the Metro series, Dying Light 2, the Stalker series of games. I wouldn’t say they look “way” better than a G2, the Aero is 4x the price of a G2 but its not 4x times better. But it is a definite and noticeable improvement in display quality.

My fave games in the Aero are the Fallout games, everything maxxed out like draw distance and Vorpx quality on Phenomenal, it looks great. You can see details, like npc’s, in the distance. You can make out details in things and u don’t need to be close up to do this.

I wanted to say.. thank you!!! I really like Cyberpunk 2077, but this game really lacked VR, it was even strange to play a game about the future, new technologies, on a flat-screen when we already live in the VR era. With VR, it’s something mind-blowing, especially after adding gestures. An unusual futuristic cyberpunk world, city, technology, futuristic cars, and all this is not somewhere on the screen but in front of you! – I love VR for that. Thank you again :)
PS I have Vorpx and it’s cool, but can you do similar VR mods for other games? Dying Light 2, Metro Exodus, etc. I would even be willing to pay for each similar mod on the full-price of a new game (20-60$).
PPS sorry for my English, I’m from the CIS

I bought Metro 2033 Redux on Steam for a few pounds, it works fine, so it looks like GOG version was the problem.

Yeh for Metro 2033 (non redux version) Vorpx changes the FOV correctly so it works ok. That google spreadsheet I linked above is wrong I think.

I’ve restarted it 3 times, no luck. I don’t recall seeing the FOV tweak & restart message when I first started it. I’m using GOG version. I’ve checked vorpx local and cloud profiles for this game and I don’t think they exist – they exist for “Metro 2033” but my game is the enhanced version, “Metro 2033 Redux”.

There’s profiles for “Metro Redux” but I think they are for Metro Last Light Redux (there were 6 base games in the series; Metro 2033, Metro 2033 Redux, Metro Last Light, Metro Last Light Redux, Metro Exodus, Metro Exodus Enhanced).

EDIT: When i go into vorpx restore game settings, Metro 2033 Redux is not there. I’m downloading Metro 2033 (non redux version) to see if it works, i think it will.

    According to :

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/17I07-RpOsVpc1XzswJ4zobAisT0ouoONXeNwGDjqDI0/htmlview#gid=0

it does but when i try it only 1 of the 3 categories appears in the directvr scan, i think only rotation works. The positional and fov categories don’t even appear. Directvr works brilliantly in the other metro games (metro last light redux, metro exodus).

Can anyone test this? Ralf? Or if u have the game?
