You have to select the correct display adapter (the listbox is titled “Video”) and resolution (1920×1080 for DK2) in the rFactor config program.

With that done it works fine here. If one of these isn’t set correctly, the game exits immediately after start.

BTW: You will also have to activate freelook mode for head tracking. Can’t remember how to do that currently, but Google will know the answer ;).

While waiting for the rfactor 2 update (with hopefully 3D function), I thought I am give rfactor 1 a try again as it is listed in the games being supported.

I have installed rfactor and it is launching without VorpX started, but if I start the Vorpx Service , I see the rfactor start message, a black Screen but then back to the desktop.
Meaning I can not launch rfactor running the VorpX Service.

Any idea what I might do wrong or have missed ?
Thanks in advance for your help

Hello Ralph, thanks a lot for your quick Response.
Unfortunately renaming doesnt work as the game is Launch via a launcher program.

I have tested it and changing to rfactor.ext will result in a error message saying rfactor2 is not found.
WOuld be really good to have the vorpx is supporting it.

    Looking Forward to it
If you Need anything to test, let me know. Still Holiday till the 5th and plenty of time to test :-)

If you do get it working I’ll love you forever!

    +1

As Adrian said we can’t run the game with a renamed exe. So is there a way we can change the VorpX rFactor.exe entry to rFactor2.exe?

Rfactor 2 launches through a launcher so you can’t directly run or rename the exe.

However it runs on an update version of the RF1 engine so it shouldn’t take anything to get it working.

i.e. with Tridef you could run RF2 with the RF1 profile

If you do get it working I’ll love you forever! :D

Agree, cant activate the 3D function.

@Ralph, is there any chance if you could look into this subject to see whether it is possible to activate 3D for rfactor2 ?
To my knowledge rfactor 2 Supports it. Might be easy to implement.

That would be great and I am sure it would boost your sales a lot ;-)

    Hellop Ralph,
still a Little bit of a to big steering in F1 but working great.

Please Change the subject title.”I give up” to “solved”

And you know what “rfactor 2” is working just great. With the “R2toRift” plugin it just works great. The “edgepeek” function is perfect to view the whole Screen and use the menue.
in rfactor 2 you can really look around and not just as a big Screen.
The steering wheel is still a little big to big but I can live with that.

Best experience I ever had with rFactor 2 so far.

and important note for the other user ! To ensure that the game is starting in the rift if must work in full Screen and not in window mode.
That was my error why it didnt appear on the rift

Great work ! now I am a very happy Vorpx user

    Thanks a lot
    Regards

rFactor 2 is not supported and might or might not work. Many unsupported games will work with no 3D vut VR functionality available, but there are no guarantees.

Your convergence issues are almost certainly caused by a wrong resolution like moarveer mentions (1920×1080 is mandatory for the DK2) or by a non-ideal IPD setting. You can adjust the FOV on the display page of the vorpX ingame menu (deselect using an Oculus profile in the config app if the setting is unavailable).

Thanks a lot , Ralph, for releasing the new Version before Christmas.
but it still doesnt work for me.
Tried F1 2014 or F1 2013 and regardless what I am doing , I am not able to get a Picture of the rift which is working.

The Pictures are so disjointed and just not matching.
rFactor 2 is not working either.

Sorry, I was hoping the best but still not working

Could someone confirm if either rFactor or rFactor 2 work with VorpX? I don’t want to buy the full thing just to find out the only games I’m interested in don’t work…

    Thanks for the tips, Ralf.

I reinstalled, and before running it, I immediately reinstalled the SDK 1.4.3 over the one included in Vorpx. And then I didn’t fiddle with the config other than to set it to only show on DK2.

It seems to be running fine now, and I have a fun test session playing the first few levels of mirrors edge. I think part of the earlier problem was that I’d set the config to clone screens, and something in Skyrim didn’t like it.

It’s not a perfect solution, but as a workaround for using DK2 on older games, I’m pretty impressed with the way it works.

I have one more question, and one suggestion.

First, does the head tracking only emulate mouse movement, or can it be used like trackir in games that support it eg. Arma and rFactor?

Also, I’m guessing that anyone with a DK2 buying this software probably already has the DK2 runtimes installed, and those without a DK2 don’t need it. I think the Vorpx installation probably doesn’t need to download and install them as well, especially if it’s not the current version. At least let it do a check for installed/newer versions. Just a suggetsion.

I followed each step thoroughly even going through multiple post and threads reading everything on what I could be missing. I just uninstalled 3D vision driver and 3D vision controller driver. I’m also going to try to experiment with the watcher to off. I haven’t tested those 2 yet but I will later on today.

I really want it to work as all I play is planetside 2, FSX, iracing, assesto corsa, LFS, GTR2, for sim.. I have DCS full but haven’t played

I might get project cars and rfactor 2 if vorpx really turns out good with those games I have if I can get it to work

Thanks for your response Ralf! I hope you succeed.

users in the ISI Forum are very knowledgeable

That’s true, for example Vittorio somehow managed to get 3d mirrors working using his custom Tridef profile (there is actual depth in the mirror image) –

So I’m sure there will be people willing to help if they can.

Ralf thanks for your answer :)

    As always, no promises.

    completely understandable

But I will certainly take a look at it. For unknown reasons rFactor 2 completely slipped my mind before.

Happy to read this. We will see if vorpx can support rF2.
