Don’t mean to sound rude, but I believe it’s the third or fourth time now that I’m trying to explain to you that some games do not like mouse and gamepad input at the same time. So whenever that is the case and vorpX has to emulate a mouse for head tracking, its internal gamepad to mouse/kb mapper is used instead.

The alternative to using the mapper in games that don’t like both input methods simultaneously would be no gamepad at all.

If you have disabled the gamepad override the vorpX menu, please re-enable it or reset the profile to default in the config app. Do not touch any related settings afterwards. The default is the default for a reason.

What i was hoping for was moving the mouse by pointing the controller. Just like you could in steam desktop mode or oculus. In combination with the cinematic view and the ability to rebind keys this would have been perfect. Do not see the point using a touch controller in games like xcom if you have to move the mouse with a joystick.

    Anyways thank for the reply.

I’ve been poking around in the settings and I can’t find anything that replicates what I want here.

In the majority of cases, head rotation being mapped to the mouse makes sense as you aim where you look but in third person games you’re going to be aiming using a joystick in most cases as head-tracking will rotate around your character and cause nausea. I’ve found that you can turn down HT Sensitivity to 0 while still having positional tracking on so VorpX is translating all head movements into the game accept for head rotation as that only works through mouse movements.

VorpX must have the ability to rotate the camera when looking left and right without touching mouse movement as it is already used for head roll and position. If there is not an option for this I would like to make a suggestion that this be added as an option as myself and a friend who also use VorpX see a lot of potential in having entirely unlocked head movement.

I have all the sympathy in the world for tinkerers, after all one could say that’s how I got into my line of work myself. But to play The Elder Scrolls Online in FullVR mode with correct field of view (read: without a zoomed in image) you will want to reset the profile to default in the config app and not touch any of the image size related settings afterwards. Trust me. :)

The controllers act as X-Box gamepad. if your game is an older game that may not work, for all newer games that support X-Box gamepad it does. If for some reason you can‘t make it work, simply set the Touch controllers to mouse/keyboard instead. vorpX provides both options to let you use your Touch controllers one way or the other in any case.

Unfortunately, this did not help. The game does not perceive Touch Controllers as a Gamepad or as a Joystick.

If you are 100% certain that there won‘t be any conflict set ‚X-Box Gampad Override‘ to ‚None’ in the vorpX menu (Input page) and then set the Touch controllers to gamepad mode on the Touch controller page. That way the Touch controllers act as native gamepad.

Be aware though that usually there is a reason if the gamepad override is set to anything else than ‚None‘. So if you encounter anything unusual, reset it to its default state.

The game I’m playing now allows me to control the mouse and the gamepad or joystick simultaneously. What needs to do to bind the analog axis of the left stick on the Oculus Touch to the game? Oculus Touch controllers do not appear in Windows 10 as separate devices. I could install a virtual joystick and bind it to the game ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/vjoystick/ ), but how to attach sticks on the Oculus Touch to vJoy?

I need that analog X- and Y-axes of the left and right sticks of Oculus Touch controllers are able to bind in games. But when «Controller Mode: Gamepad» is selected, the right stick controls the mouse and left stick controls the WASD-buttons. It is not gamepad behavior. In this case left stick provide discrete control but not analog one.

I’ve had this issue for quite a while, at least an update or 2 ago. When Vorpx is running, my gamepad switches to keyboard or is recognized as a keyboard in the game, making it unusable. I know in earlier versions, I used to just turn the controller over ride setting to off and it worked fine, now it doesn’t.

I have both an Xbox One and Steam Controller, same issue with each. I tried messing with the gamepad override settings but doesn’t work. I can’t figure out how to get the game or Vorpx (whichever the case) to recognize my controller as a gamepad.

I do not have a Touch Controller. Games this effects seems to be all of them, GTA 5, AC: Origins, etc. Gamepad over ride is set to off but I have tried partial and full without success….how do I prevent vorpx from messing with my gamepad?

I got the game working/hooking in VorpX with the console enabler (for the FOV mod). But the Touch controllers don’t work as a gamepad. When i switch to KB/Mouse in the VorpX menu, i can move around in the game menus and the mouse pointer moves as well. But when i switch to “gamepad” in the the VorpX menu, the controls are unresponsive – i can’t access the menues, and i can’t even bring up the Oculus dash.

Is this some known issue? Did i miss something? Could somebody help, please?

Ok, so I found how to make it work. In steamvr menu you have to go to the control options and add a new controller layout instead the standard controls, choose cybershoes instead of vive/oculus/index controllers, then create a new layout, select trackpad default (it worked for me), work as trackpad, then on click select lbuttonpad0, on touch select ltouchpad0, and on position select laxispad0. I tested with Metro 2033 Redux and worked great, it was a bit too fast so I’ll have to play with the usb emitter speed controls.

For this to work the vive/oculus/index left controller must be on, so I wonder if there’s any way to hide controllers visually but still be active on vorpx, since I want to use an xbox controller, which works fine with this setup.

Resetting the game settings to default anf then not touching AA/scaling options afterwards should help.

A restart after settings changes is only required when vorpX shows an according notification, i.e. when you change settings that are handled by vorpX’s DirectVR.

    Hello Guys and Girls,

Fixing hundrets of games in thousands of hours wears off hardware. I am currently on my 3rd headset and i will become in need of new lighthouses shortly. Note, I am buying all the hardware out of my own pocket.

Please get in touch if you have a pair of HTC VIVE Lighthouses to Sell for a profile author friendly price, Donate, whatever ( Version 1, or 1.2, not 2! ). Use my Email adress below.

    Thank you

Maybe your PPS nails it better than I would like it to. A few years back Robinson — The Journey was another supposed VR must have and I was completely blown away by its similarly great graphics and atmosphere, exactly until the game literally wanted me to play some children’s game. Can’t remember what that was anymore, but I never touched the game again afterwards.

I’ll give Alyx another try over the weekend. I’d really appreciate a grumpy-old-man-mode though that cuts what I consider distracting fluff. As much as I love to explore artfully crafted worlds, even more so combined with some well done action and a halfway decent story, I just don’t really see me grabbing behind my back and then cumbersomely reload a gun 500 times in each and every game from now on. Doesn’t add one bit of immersion for me at all.
