Switch to native Oculus in the config app instead of SteamVR. No need for SteamVR with an Oculus headset at all. Unfortunately SteamVR hard-overrides the menu button on Touch controllers. Weird decision, as that probably breaks a plethora of native VR games too.

When I’m using the Oculus touch controls key mapped to Esc function (I think it’s left grip and Oculus button) it will never activate the Esc keyboard function because when hitting the left Oculus button will bring up the Steam VR overlay.

Setting Gamepad override to off and setting the Oculus Touch controllers as gamepad has fixed the issue I noted in OP. Thanks for great support Ralf!

If I set the Oculus Touch controllers to “gamepad” mode, which X-box gamepad override setting should I use to ensure my Xbox acts as the dominant gamepad?

The Oculus Touch issue I described where if I move or bump them in anyway causes my Xbox gamepad to go from native Xbox mode to keyboard/mouse emulation mode also seems to happen in Final Fantasy 7 Remake which otherwise runs quite perfectly and feels like it was designed as a stereoscopic 3D game. Z-normal is underrated.

Sounds weird, but if turning them off doesn’t work for some reason, set them to gamepad mode instead. Unless the ‘X-Box Gamepad Override’ (the 4. from your original post) is on at the same time that way the Touch controllers emulate native gamepad input.

The problem was that the Oculus Touch controllers were off in the VorpX menu, and I would still have the issue I described above if I move them. As soon as they moved, my xbox controller switched to mouse/keyboard emulation mode instead of native xbox input with rumble.

Number 4 is the menu option which sets the behavior of vorpx on how it takes control of the xbox controller. I don’t remember exactly what’s it called in the vorpx menu, but the options were: hidden, partial, and full over-ride of the gamepad controller.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean under 4., but if I understood the rest of post correctly, you should be able to prevent this by either turning the Touch controllers off in the vorpX menu or switching them to gamepad mode. Per default they are set to emulate mouse/keyboard.

I just started using the Oculus Quest2 with VorpX via Virtual Desktop wifi streaming. Before I used the Vive and when I played VorpX games where I needed the Xbox One gamepad, I would just turn them off the Vive wands. No fuss.

Well the situation seems slightly more complicated with the Quest2.

Like before the Xbox One controlled works and it works like a normal xbox one controller ingame complete with vibration UNLESS I dare bump the Ouculus Touch controllers. Then the native xbox support goes away and instead my Xbox One controller falls back to some sort of crappy keyboard / mouse emulation mode.

I know this is happening because vibration function goes away, my mapping is wildly different, and controls are suddenly horrible and the game is unplayable.

Some things I did to troubleshoot:

    1. I disabled gamepad emulation mode for the Touch Controllers in virtual desktop

    2. I disabled touch controller functionality within VorpX

    3. I disabled VorpX from using any of my xbox controller buttons.

    4. Gamepad Controller “takeover” functionality in VorpX is set to “Off”.

Even with all of the above, as son as I move my touch controllers, my Xbox controller no longer has native access to Rocket League and has its controls rebound.

Any idea how I can fix this without having to pull batteries out? Is there a way to turn off the Oculus Touch controllers?

I am running VorpX 21.3.1 in SteamVR mode (I haven’t tried Oculus mode yet)

Super weird. The only potential issue I can really imagine here is some issue with the ‘Cyber Engine Tweaks’ modding framework. That’s used by many mods, not just the VR mod. The installer doesn’t touch any files that belong to the actual game.

ADS is way off for me.
Also, i noticed that my character is about 1 head taller than NPC, may be i got some something wrong with my headset environement screwing around.
But when i ADS an ennemy about only 10m away, i can’t touch him, all the shots go above from the test i did.

Also, when i quit the game and i get back to the steam vr loft, my position is just under the ground.
In WMR, my height is ok.

I told the guys on youtube, that’s too much effort in free mod. I already thought they expect too much. They hope LukeRoss will add Weapon and Bodytracking, but i don’t think so.

He won’t as he also makes his mods with keeping the gameplay untouched.

Should work as before. There haven’t really been any chnages to the Touch controller for quite a while. Controllers may have to be active when starting the game.

Thank you for the info, Ralf! Any ideas re my original question, i.e., what I could try to get both inputs back? It used to work, stopped working between two game starts yesterday. Like I said, I tried restarting everything, deleting and reloading the game profile from the cloud, etc.

    > Natively gamepad input usually handles walk/run in an analog way,
    > i.e. there is no hard switch between walking and running

I don’t think that’s true at all. Most modern 1st-person games (Cyberpunk 2077, the Far Cry series, Rage, Wolfenstein TNO + TNC, etc.) have standardized gamepad controls: RT for shooting, RSTICK for looking, LSTICK for walking, A for jumping, B for crouching, X for using / picking up stuff / reloading. Beyond that, there may be differences, but these seem to be set in stone. Sprinting / running is *always* done via pressing and moving the LSTICK, i.e., there *is* a hard switch.

    Check out the following links:

    > With the override walk/run (obviously) works like keyboard walk/run with two distinct velocities.
It’s not about having a gradual buildup in speed (Wolfenstein has none, and neither does Cyberpunk), it’s about how you switch between the two velocities. The native mapping makes me press the LSTICK for that; Vorpx’s override messes it up and starts analyzing how far I’ve moved the LSTICK. It doesn’t seem to allow me to get the switch back. I have to be very careful when touching the LSTICK lest the guy start sprinting like crazy.

The oculus touch controls don’t seem to be bound for it, right mouse and left mouse both don’t do anything. Nor does xbox controller.

My old headset was a Rift S, and because of my setup it was a pain to hook up each time I wanted to play a game, so I haven’t touched my VR stuff for about a year. I recently got a Quest 2, and since it’s a single USB plug to hook it up, I’ve been getting back into VR. I mention all of this to point out that I haven’t messed with VorpX for a year and I’m possibly woefully behind on how it works at this point, and I apologize in advance if this is a stupid issue.

Anyways, I’m wanting to try playing “Yakuza Kiwami 2”. It looks beautiful, and actually has a first-person mode when wandering around, with a smooth transition to third-person when initializing combat, so it seemed like a fantastic choice to try VorpX in.

I update VorpX to the latest version, and try to fire it up. It doesn’t hook, and after a bit of fiddling with settings, I can get it to connect with the game when both VorpX and YK2 are ran in Admin mode. However, I get a black screen with game audio. I can hear flipping through the main menu options, but I can’t see a thing, whether I’m in VR, Immersive Screen, or Cinema Modes. I look at my physical IRL monitor, and it’s a black screen as well, other than the VorpX watermark.

I’ve tried the default hook method and the alt-hook in General Settings. Both give the same black screen + audio as a result. Any ideas how to get this to work?
