I played Xen on G2, probably with v23, and I manually configured it, and in my opinion it worked very well in full VR.
I just had to set the FOV with console command and choose a 4:3 resolution (and unzoom of course).
Menu was not really practical with 3D enabled…

But maybe it’s even better with DirectVR. What does it change exactly ?

You can always use VorpX Desktop Viewer to play (and adjust resolution if you want). You can “Pause Watcher” or exclude the game if you don’t want to hook it.
You simply won’t have 3D and you may not have positional tracking.

I never tried Titanfall 2 with VorpX but I know it works very well from others.

Maybe try to launch it without VorpX, and set it on DirectX11 or DirectX9 (VorpX doesn’t like DX10 and DX12 because it can’t render G3D, so sometimes official profiles only works with DX9 or DX11).

Did you try the hook helper, and alternate hooking ?

Some unofficial profiles requires to create a direct shortcut instead of launching VorpX (right click on VorpX in taskbar > create shortcut).

Sometimes you just have to wait and it works again (auto-update I presume), or use another version of VorpX (but I never had to and I tried a lot of games).

I think it depends on the game.

As far as I know, all graphics options are working with Z3D.

Some games don’t like DLSS (which I don’t think is very useful in VR if you use it to lower resolution, because it makes games looks blurry in my experience).

You have an option G3D shadow in VorpX ingame menu to enable/disable effects which may works or not according to the game environnements (usually, interiors allow more effects than exteriors). Auto seems to be the best, and turn off disable everything that doesn’t works well.

    Thank you RJK_.

    So in order to render a G3D 4:3 2880p game, I would need a 7660×2880 monitor ?

It would be possible if I could keep VorpX Desktop Viewer in background but I guess I can’t.

As far as I know, I can’t Alt-Tab to Desktop Viewer when playing a game with VorpX virtual monitor.

There is a checkbox “Don’t Optimize game Settings” in VorpX config app.
You can use it to prevent VorpX to change resolution if needed.
I use it all the time, but I don’t play with a gamepad.

    It’s just a guess but i think…

If the image is out of proportion, it’s probably because your FOV (field of View) is too low (narrow), so you’re zoomed in.

It seems you can adjust FOV with this mod :
    https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55085

Or simply with console command :
    https://steamcommunity.com/app/22380/discussions/0/522730700808149795/
(But beware the achievements in this case, if it matters for you).

I suppose world Field Of view should be setted arround 120, then you lower it until it’s perfect for you.

Remember your perfect FOV value, it won’t change that much between games (except when games use vertical FOV, in which case you have to use lower value – multiply by 0.75 in 4:3 ratio).

    I assume you use a 4:3 headset (Quest 3, Reverb G2 ?). Did you choose a 4:3 resolution ?
You should choose your resolution ratio and adjust zoom before adjusting FOV if you want a perfect experience.
You can raise resolution up to 2880×2160 or 3840×2880 (or more) if you want a very detailed image, but start with something low, as long as it’s 4:3.
Don’t forget using ClarityFX and raise sharpness before raising resolution (because it could be enough).

If you use an Aero, Pimax or other headset, it’s not 4:3.

Remember you can bind VorpX shortcuts (edgepeek, VorpX menu, recenter).

    What is multiplanar rendering ?

VorpX support “Geometry 3D” (wich seem true 3D to me) in a lot of DX9/DX11 games.

G3D is very impressive on Dellrifter profile, but the image on left eye move a little, so it’s not perfectly confortable. And it seems you need a really good graphic card…
Z3D doesn’t do much on this profile (but you can resize HUD) but it runs perfectly (so it may be a better choice).
It worth it, but it would be perfect with a better G3D.

Yes I almost always use ClarityFX at full with sharpness at maximum. And it works very well !

According to my tests, G3D works better inside with Metro Exodus, because as you said, you must disable some effects when you are outside (shadows still have a strange effect on G3D inside, and I don’t know why, but it’s acceptable, so I keep them all, since you gave the option). G3D was very impressive in spiders level and other bunkers. I use Z3D outside because I prefer raytracing, etc.

But also because image is blurrier at the same resolution in G3D. If I look far away at the very beggining of the game (Moscow), for example, it’s really blurry in G3D, but it’s amazing in Z3D (you can see every detail, even at the edge of the map).

It’s also the case with Bioshock 2 (Minerva’s Den) Remastered (Z3D looks a little better than G3D).

In original Bioshock 1&2, it’s not the case at all (on the contrary, G3D is better than Z3D, with a perfectly crisp image).

    So maybe I have a problem…

I though you had to limit rendering because Metro was too demanding with G3D.

I’ll probably try Dishonored 2 with VorpX someday too (I have done the second game only once). I don’t really have anything against Z3D but of course G3D would be a lot better if you can reach same quality.
Dishonored 2 is less good than the first one (except gameplay and level design, but story is really worse than dishonored1 & its DLCs), but it would be a great addition to VorpX, and I think it’s a popular enough game do deserve a G3D profile, if it doesn’t ask too much work.
Beside, it’s the kind of games VorpX is made for (in my opinion).

I used an Elden Ring profile wich works with a Reverb G2.

I had good Z3D (with little outline artefacts on some objects sometimes). The only problem was displaced mouse cursor when Z3D was activated but it wasn’t important.

The game was really impressive and I did it entirely with VorpX.

Reverb G2 is particularly well adapted to use VorpX (i never had a compatibility issue with it and it’s well optimized). Make sure you use OpenXR runtime (not SteamVR) in Device Selection.

    I don’t remember wich profile I used.

Did you read profiles instructions ? For example, MGSnake19 profile precise that you must run the game in fullscreen with resolution 2560×1440.

Good luck anyway, but it should work !

I have changed the TextureStreamingMemoryLimit to 128.000000 but sadly, I still get crashes every 15 minutes or so, specially when I access machines (upgrades, ammo, health packs, etc.) and also when manually saving; from Windows 10 and 11 too.

    I use both :
    TextureStreamingMemoryLimit=128.000000
    TextureStreamingDistanceLimit=30000.000000

You can try other values. Maybe 64 or 32, or 1. If 0 worked for you, you can still use it. It doesn’t seems to lower the graphics too much and too often (and you play on Quest 2, so do you really notice the difference ?)

You said “Did you try the virtual monitor tip”; Can you please tell me how to do it in a more detailed way and which resolutions should I try ? I don’t know what is it or where to find it and nor how to set it…

Check my post above : May 26, 2024 at 2:52am
There should be a shortcut on your desktop to launch VorpX Desktop Viewer.
I would try 3840×2880 or if it’s too much 2880×2160 (but it shouldn’t be too much on this game). Once again, maybe it doesn’t change too much on a Quest 2, I don’t know. On a Reverb G2 I can tell the difference.

I also was unable to find where that Tesselation setting is set.

In Bioshock2SP.ini, there is two lines named TesselationFactor.
There are a lot of other things you can change here, but it’s not always better. It depends.

When I try path tracing, vorpX keeps crashing. Are there some settings or something I’m missing, or does path tracing just not work with it?

    Thanks in advance.

Path tracing worked for me (with ultra settings 4k and DLAA), with an RTX4090, but I got 15fps (30 with AMDFidelityFX -max quality- instead of DLAA). It’s playable, but I would recommand to play any other game with current graphic cards and wait a little…
Every other games I tried were smooth and most of them were more impressive in VR currently.

Tesselation up to 15 in .ini files (two separate lines) is great. I hesitated a lot with Low, but for now, I play with ClarityFX to full and sharpness/texture enhancement to 2.0. Walls with corals are very detailed and sharp in Dyonisus Park. It gives volume to rust/coral.
This game is very impressive in VR. You don’t need to play recent games to get stunning graphics with VorpX. Even with an RTX4090, it’s better overall than Cyberpunk 2077 in VR.
