    You can change between cinema mode and fullscreen at any time with the vorpX Delete key menu, but if a game defaults in cinema mode it is like that for good reasons. You can try full mode in Grid, but it might look too zoomed in for your comfort. There are distance sliders on the image page for you to adjust if you want.

    If you by some chance checkmarked the “Dont optimize game settings” in your vorpX config app, DirectVR functions won’t be available in game. Not all games have DirectVR, but I believe RE7 does.

    Make sure you aren’t running Battlefield V in dx12, vorpX dosn’t work with 12.

    If you still get load crash with dx11, just wait for the vorpX update due this weekend. It has planned Frostbite 3 integration, which might possibly include a new profile for Battlefield V. Just speculating, but we’ll see in a couple days.

    I don’t have Max Payne 3, but you could try turning off positional tracking in vorpX menu. That can cause stutter on rare occasion, though not usually related to textures as you describe.

    Really strange that Max becomes invisible in Z-normal. That should not be possible. This should mean that Max would be invisible even in 2D mode.

    Anyway, what I can say about head tracking: don’t disable it, but rather turn down the sensitivity to 0 on the main page of vorpX menu. That or switch to Cinema mode.

    A game update to BF2 last year caused Z3D to break during death cam and in menus. Ralf figured out a way to update Z-buffer checks more consistently, and a profile update fixed it. I wonder if this could be related, and you are just experiencing vorpX recovering from the hiccup.

    I havn’t checked in with BF2 for a while (am purposely waiting for the soon coming G3D), but maybe I’ll take a quick look. I do remember Z3D looking great already.

    @doomnie

    Figured I’d download Project Celeste tonight to try in vorpX. Got lucky with RJK’s proflie for Anno 1701. With only a couple minor shadow fixes G3D is looking good :) . So another thanks to RJK for his work.

    I’ve added an experimental profile to the cloud for G3D cinema mode with my preferred settings. I must admit though I have yet to play a real game, I only messed around with the scenario editor some. So let me know if any shaders look wrong.

    You can increase 3D strength to your liking, just notice how the GUI might become uncomfortable to view if too strong.

    You can enable positional tracking for the ability to lean in forward, but the game does not allow you to “freelook” around. So I decided to turn it off since looking side to side gives unwanted wobble effect. But try it if you wish.

    To hook the game in my rift, I had to run vorpX Control as administrator and set to steamVR mode to avoid Oculus runtime errors. I assigned Spartan.exe to the profile.

    I was only able to test offline, so let us know how it works for you.

    I don’t have time for details atm, but google for Flawless Widscreen. It’s an app to adjust FOV for several games, FC3 is on there. Think it even has hands FOV adjustment.

    Also, I often use Letterbox in fullVR for these situations, and zooming the screen out some. Yes I get bars on top and bottom, but I still get headtracking and larger scale than playing in the cinema modes.

    Sometimes getting proper FOV (distance from player hands/weapons and from the ground) are more important to me than the image filling my entire view, to get it “feeling” right.

    I wanted to suggest the shader tool, but realized it wont work for official supported profiles. You’d have to rename Mass Effect’s exe and add a custom profile (assuming ME2 will even launch with renamed exe).

    But first, try adjusting the HUD depth setting in vorpX ingame menu. Just maybe if you make the crosshair deeper it will feel less “cross-eyed”.

    was the pes2014 profile for dx9 or dx11? You made sure pes2018 was not running dx12?

    Seems it might still be the same engine, so maybe it could work with the right game settings (AA, Fullscreen, etc), but I don’t know. Maybe RJK has tried.

    Neat Ralf! It’s always nice having Z3D option when shadows are a problem.

    I’ve had some pretty good luck with the unity based Life is Strange – Before the storm profile, granting G3D to games like Hitman, Mad Max, Sniper Elite, and even Total War. Games I would not have suspected a link to unity. Perhaps the unity render method is most basic or common?

    Anyhow, it will be very useful if Z-normal ends up working across these games as well, even if the profiles have to be remade. (or will they?) I’ve already used the fixed Z-buffer Battlefront 2 profile to fix Ghost Recon’s Z3D, so thanks for that.

    I’m not sure the older profiles ever did work, and so far I haven’t had any luck finding Z3D.

    The G3D i think is running from a unity profile, and as you noticed, not perfect. Have to disable the shadows and HUD only shows in one eye. I recall a slight occlusion halo effect around Max when looking at certain light sources, but I don’t remember stereo being as severely impacted as you describe. A certain game setting perhaps?

    I can take another look with the shader tool a bit later, but we might just have to settle with what we’ve got. With as many profiles I tried failing outright, it already works better than I had expected.

    Ralf: I’ve been curious. Is there a reason no unity profiles offer Z3D? is it not possible for Unity engine, or was simply overlooked?

    I have a Pimax4k as well. No, HMDs can’t match monitor resolution just yet, but the Pimax has come the closest.

    I actually use 3000×3000 for GRW, but this means I’m averaging only 28 fps on gtx1080. I’ve come to tolerate 30 fps for third person games, but want at least 45 for first person.

    I’m still running the old 1.1.92 piplay with default 1440p res in steam (no supersampling). This is performance efficient, and is feeding the correct 1440 signal the upscaler chip converts to 4k. Instead I render the games at high resolutions, and find subtle improvement the higher I go.

    To maximize clarity in vorpX for the Pimax, become familiar with the Image Settings page of the Delete Key menu. I usually crank the Sharpening slider all the way to 2.00 for good results. Try the Crystal image settings. Normal is often best, but in a few games Advanced can look better. And use the Brightness/Saturation sliders to improve vivid color.

    Also note that GRW has it’s own Sharpening slider in settings, though for me setting beyond 35% was even too much.

    Anyway, glad you got it working. If you have further questions or trouble with the 3D let me know.

    I grabbed Prey over Christmas to be ready :) . I’m also excited to try the new Battlefront/Battlefield games in Geometry.

    Maybe only Z3D, but Ralf said he might have Mafia 3 working soon too. Surely it’s not as bad as people say. Mafia 2 was great!

    Which HMD do you have?

    I tested just now in my rift (even using the alternate dll you linked) and things are working with updated profile. Please be aware that Ralf has since asked us to no longer discuss or post links regarding bypasses and trainers, sorry.

    If you haven’t already, please try the (Rift) labeled profile I have uploaded from Dec2018. The original profile from this post was based on GTA5, but game updates caused problems with Z3D. I later found that an updated Battlefront 2 profile handled Z3D much better. Even if you are not using rift HMD, please give the rift profile a try. You can adjust it as needed to suit any HMD.

    If you plan to play in fullVR mode, I recommend a square resolution (2400×2400) for best camera FOV results. Create the custom res with your Nvidia Control Panel first, then select it from the fullscreen resolutions in game. If it gives you trouble choosing custom resolutions in game (as it recently sometimes does), you can manually set it in GRW.ini.

    Documents\My Games\Ghost Recon Wildlands\GRW.ini

    [Display Settings]
    KeepStandardAspect=1
    WindowMode=2
    DisplayWidth=2400
    DisplayHeight=2400

    *add KeepStandardAspect line if it does not already exist

    Slide Extended FOV to max in game.

    Hopefully the new profile fixes your problem, but if it doesn’t, let me know and I’ll take a closer look at all my game settings and post them exactly.

    Edit: I’m using Temporal AA (some games having AA on vs off is important), and leave resolution scaling at 1.00 (scaling almost always breaks Z3D in games for me).

    Yep, 2018 was a great year for games, and 2019 is looking to start off strong as well. Let’s just hope more of the big ones come to PC this year, so we can throw them in vorpX 😁.
