Both Max Payne profiles seem to be gone from the cloud profiles

    OP is this stereoscopic 3D?

Setting Gamepad override to off and setting the Oculus Touch controllers as gamepad has fixed the issue I noted in OP. Thanks for great support Ralf!

If I set the Oculus Touch controllers to “gamepad” mode, which X-box gamepad override setting should I use to ensure my Xbox acts as the dominant gamepad?

The Oculus Touch issue I described where if I move or bump them in anyway causes my Xbox gamepad to go from native Xbox mode to keyboard/mouse emulation mode also seems to happen in Final Fantasy 7 Remake which otherwise runs quite perfectly and feels like it was designed as a stereoscopic 3D game. Z-normal is underrated.

I can’t really say anything else than what I said above alraedy: in G3D profiles the base settings are dialed in to provide up to five times the realistic 3D-Strength for those who want a dollhouse effect. Base parameters are typically dialed in so that the default 1.0 provides realistic 3D, by raising the strength you can get five times more if you want, corresponding to the inter-eye-distance of a respectable hammerhead shark.

No native VR-game lets you do something even remotely like that. vorpX does, although this is not really what it is supposed or meant to do. On an admittedly slightly annoyed sounding sidenote [insert rolling eyes here]: sometimes I wonder if all other VR devs also are forced to have this discussioun on a regular basis considering that in contrast to vorpX they don’t offer such an option at all. Or maybe they aren’t BECAUSE there isn’t such an option in their games in the first place. I’m almost tempted to try. ;)

For Z3D that much 3D is too glitchy, hence for Z3D profiles the max. limit has to be lower unfortunately.

Seriously guys: If you want a developer (anyone actually) to answer your questions in an open and direct way, you have to accept the possiblitly that sometimes the answer may not be the one you hoped for. The alternatives are no replies at all or meaningless feelgood replies (‘Thanks! Great feedback, we have have forwarded your suggestion to the team’) as you would typically get in forums of bigger devs/publishers. They know why they do it that way, but that is not what I want for you here.

I love it that Ralf is keeping it real. I also loved his detailed explanation on why FOV is more important than 3D. VorpX gives endless enjoyment.

The problem was that the Oculus Touch controllers were off in the VorpX menu, and I would still have the issue I described above if I move them. As soon as they moved, my xbox controller switched to mouse/keyboard emulation mode instead of native xbox input with rumble.

Number 4 is the menu option which sets the behavior of vorpx on how it takes control of the xbox controller. I don’t remember exactly what’s it called in the vorpx menu, but the options were: hidden, partial, and full over-ride of the gamepad controller.

There will be an end-of-life-plan when there is need for an end-of-life-plan, which is a far cry from now.

Have you considered setting up a Patreon for some of us VorpX super fans who have been enjoying your product for years and wish to start contributing again?

Yeah I can definitely can confirm that Ralf is very helpful on these forums. Also you may want to consider using the troubleshooting section of the forums because there is mainly where Ralf goes to help out with customer issues rather than here which is for users helping each other out with getting games to work that aren’t on VorpX’s official supported list.

Yes, thanks for checking on this! It’s great that theoretically it’s possible for z3d even though we can’t actually get the freakin’ game (legally). Ridiculous that it brings a 3080 to its knees. As much as I want to play it, reading the news on the disastrous launch is almost as entertaining.

I have a feeling it’s the CPU that is the bottleneck rather than the 3080 being brought to its knees, but Ralf is the expert here :)

Have to look into that. If you want, you can disable the offending shader yourself with the shader authoring tool. Shader authoring can be enabled in the config app (main page).

Okay. Is that sort of a trial and error process? The way I fixed it for now is disabling all lens flares. The lens flares also don’t track properly when I move my head around. I remember the lens flares used to be perfect, but surely an update to the game broke it.

Dont know about these games but you can use that same mod for Doom for Heretic and Hexen

That mod won’t work because these are Build engine games not Doom engine games.

Is it worth getting into Star Trek Online now? I love playing Bridge Crew with my friends and have been on a big Star Trek kick, binging on TNG (the remaster is amazing).

Short update: “works fine” was a bit premature. While 3D works fine, the game handles FOV in a rather unusual fashion: it’s essentially impossible to set an FOV value that is both horizontically and vertically correct when playing with a headset.

Long story short: the profile will not be included in the next update. I *may* take another look later, but can’t promise anything.

Any update on this? I would love to see build engine games supported in VorpX such as Blood. Is it possible to get it to work in an immersive screen instead of full VR? I would love to play these games (as well as Rise of the Triad 94 with the WinROTTGL port) in stereoscopic 3D especially since I’ve been playing a lot of GZ3Doom lately in my Vive.

dh you can only play in 2D in VR … but if you switch to the side by side format in 3D you get real 3D !!! … wow … I was real flashed that it is so easy without a detour via “VorpX” …

Ugh so if I want to play this in native VR, as soon as I go on foot it switches to 2D instead of SBS? I would prefer a solution that lets me play in native VR where available, and then changes over to SBS 3D when on foot. Extremely lame the devs couldn’t do this when they were so close
