That’s not uncommon and happens with a lot of games. You may be able to fix the problem by switching to borderless mode instead of fullscreen, or vice-versa. A lot of games will release the graphics devices when you tab out, which means that vorpx has to rehook them when you tab back.

You can encounter other weird behavior when you alt-tab out of a game, like you graphics resolution resetting to your desktop resolution and your window mode being reset. It’s best to avoid tabbing away from a game once it’s started so that vorpx doesn’t have to contend with those unexpected changes.

I tried about a hundred profiles with AC Syndicate and none of them worked, and while the one in the cloud does an excellent job of rendering the game in 2d, so do a lot of the profiles I tried.

The only thing unusual about the depth buffer is that it is offset slightly from the near plane (as far as I can tell from playing around with reshade). But there’s a large number of nodes in the games swapchain which is probably why finding a compatible profile, if one exists, difficult. At present, this game is in my “not compatible with vorpx” bucket.

A g3d profile is going to take a while. The game has around 500 shaders to sort through. If you want a z3d profile, you can just use a copy of the “Grounded” profile, but the depth with that profile is minimal (I don’t think it’s the profile, the game just has a weak depth buffer).

If you’re talking about going from 2d to g3d, expect a 50% performance cost as the scene has to be rendered twice, once for each eye. 2d to z3d costs about 15%. Vorpx conveniently ignores you steamvr supersampling so you don’t need to be messing with it.

If you’re talking about performance differences between immersive and other modes there really shouldn’t be any, at least not anything significant.

The Witcher and a lot of older games do all of the rendering on a single thread and can’t push the gpu to go any faster. You can try disabling a couple of cores to see if it helps, but I can run the game at 4k resolution and 90 fps on and it only uses about half of my gpu capacity before maxing out fps-wise. My fps increases going from outdoors to indoors, but gpu utilization is the same.

    Can’t address your second issue.

Hooks fine for me, but I have the steam version. You’ve probably got an anti-virus program or game overlay blocking the hook.

My mistake. I was thinking of another game.

I don’t own a Quest 2 but it sounds like you don’t have your client set to SteamVR in the vorpx config app. VD is the only component capable of streaming; there is no such a thing as a Vorpx stream. The output from Vorpx to SteamVR will captured by VD and sent to your headset.

At least that’s my understanding of how it works, not being a Quest 2 owner.

Well, despite what is says on Steam, the game is dx11 and works with existing UE4 profiles, including the split screen feature. If you want G3D the Conarium profile may be a good starting point, but it has some shadow issues. I may put together a profile at some point, but no guarantees – I usually prefer Z3D mode anyway.

There are two versions of Quake 3, not counting the gazillion modified versions out there. One uses opengl and the other, I believe, is IdTech3. I think the profile is for the opengl version but I could be wrong, hence my question.

Anyway, glad you got it working.

I couldn’t get it to work with rdr2 or any of the profiles, including the one checked in by Paradise Decay. I have the GOG version whereas Paradise Decay has the Epic Store version. Not sure if that’s the difference but I just get a black screen in the headset and on the monitor. I know the games running because I can hear the audio.

You need to be a bit more specific. Low resolution or poor fps can mean anything.

What led you to believe that the quake 3 profile would work? I’m pretty sure that’s an opengl profile, but the game’s website says it uses dx11.

I don’t have a Quest2 so I can’t comment on that, but Rift-S is selling for $300 right now (while supplies last since it has been discontinued). Might be a good time to pick up one.

Steam says it requires direct12 so you only have four profiles to choose from. Don’t know what the split screen feature is exactly but it doesn’t sound like it would work.
