warnings by Publishers and Studios send to competitors in the modding scene !

I wasn´t following those things lately so i probably missed a few details as to what is really behind studios/publishers sending out warnings and threats.

So, what is behind this? I mean it´s not like VR-Modders, let alone vorpX is doing or supporting anything like piracy or to ask a similiar question:

WTF is their goddamn problem with vr-modders?

It looks like they aren´t really caring for vr, let alone new great vr-games to begin with, so WTF?

I am also afraid that, if there wouldn´t be modders or software like vorpX, VR would already be at the brink of extinction probably coz those few nice games, even minor “great” games and even more mediocre crap games are not really helping VR in the best ways possible.

….and just don´t remind me of that Zuckerberg-Disaster they call “Metaverse”.

I am afraid VR is stuck in a crisis and i hope i am terribly wrong with this assumption.

I worry about vorpx, Ralf didn’t tell us a plausible reason why we have still vorpx 21.3.2, and i guess Ralf has received a legal warning and Ralf is not allowed to update vorpx.

The same in Helixvision, it hasn’t got an update since June 2021, and they didnt’t want to tell me why ! Paul Dusler was the developer of the 3dfixmanager and this was the back end of Helixvision, and guess that he left the team last year.

And RealVR has a received a legal warning and has to delete all 2K game mods, too. He released the Cyberpunk, Eldenring, Dark Souls, Final Fantasy 7 and Ghost Wire Tokyo Mods in 2022, and that’s it. I think that he wants 130€ per year for this small list of games is ripping off the VR Fans.

I hope that the new Geo3D, Geo11, Depth3D will shake up the scene and we will survive this crisis !

Honestly if it comes to VR-exclusive titles, i´ve almost sold my vr-gear already years ago, leaving vr and not even looking back to it.

Just before selling my gear, i was actually trying to play games on a virtual theater screen and THAT was what got me hooked to VR after all, so basically i am playing all my games on vr-theater screens now. The only problem was, free software such as Bigscreen-Beta caused much troubles (stuttering, crashes etc.) so it was vorpX what saved me again, coz there haven´t been those issues.

So believe it or not, i am actually using my vr-goggles with almost every gaming-session today, on a daily basis of course.

Now if i can´t continue playing regular games with vorpX or even other similiar products, while being forced to play those few and actually great vr-exclusives, then VR is good as dead to me coz i will not keep my gear for those few vr-exclusives being released every couple of years.

Sad and tragic, such a thing would be.

That affects only a minority of MS/Game Pass games luckily.

Most important thing to me is playing my games on huge theaterscreens while 3D-effects aren´t THAT important to me and since crackdown3 is running incredibly well on its virtual-desktop (haven´t even tried free vr-desktop-apps but usually the more graphic-intense games and open-world games tend to run terribly there to the point i can´t even play them) i am happy and so this case can be closed.

Thanks again for replying and all the infos!

The default folder for Windows apps is C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. It’s hidden per default, so you have to enable ‘Show hidden files’ in the Explorer options. Caveat: It’s also access restricted to protect apps installed there. Whether you want to change that or not is up to you.

Thank you very much Ralf! I wasn´t aware Microsoft is really hiding a game I actually bought, along with not giving me any rights to check its files, except getting a visible (happily not hidden as well!) shortcut and thanks to dear Mister Gates also the rights to click and start the appropriate app with it.

BTW: If you want to access the folder to add the .exe to a vorpX profile: that is not necessary. Instead simply use the ‘Add Process’ button in the config app while the game is running.

THAT actually also showed me the Crackdown3.exe, which the alt-tab process-list wasn´t showing me or didn´t allowed me to show!

Sadly i still can´t make vorpX hook to it, even with admin-rights. Guess this is because i still haven´t gotten the appropriate full-rights on the WindowsApps-Folder and until to this point i was only able to manage looking into it with using the notebook-trick (starting notebook.exe with admin rights and opening the Winapp-folder then).

So well, WindowsApp-Folder revealed a shitload of 100s of folders, after quickly looking at the biggest one, it showed me some folder with 8 MB, LOL, no sign of any Game-Folder with approx. 30 GBs and neither any sign of the Crackdown3.exe.

Enough with this crap, i am goin to download the cracked pirate version and try if vorpX can hook to that one, i already bought the game anyway so i am still a lawful person LOL!

    Anyway, thanks again Ralf!

You may start the game, then press STRG+ALT+DEL in order to open task manager. Then go through each running Process. Each one should have its own command line indicating the path of the according application.

Thanks but that ain´t the problem.

I am aware of the running process/process-line it is (“Crackdown 3: Campaign”), it just doesn´t allow me to acces certain commands and one of those is the one which would be leading me to its path.

When i was installing the game, the system told me i am not allowed for this game to select a destination path of my choice so then the game started installation and picked a destination whatever it felt was right…and didn´t even told me where LOL.

Well tried it without hooking and it works flawlessly without any stuttering or other problems on vorpX´s vr-desktop.

Well thank you very much Ralf!

Just couldn´t explain why i was getting more of those issues lately and then i realized i was still using Steam-VR and forgot to go back to my regular Oculus-VR Settings.

Haven´t tried OpenXR yet but i will for sure and as far as it goes for Steam-VR, everything is ok as long i am not dumb enough forgetting that i have it still activated thinking i would be playing with oculus-vr settings enabled.

If there would be a way for profiles to also save/recognize what vr-settings to use (oculus/steam/etc.) with which game, it would be a great thing, but of course not really a must-have at all.

Are these games not meant to be played in full VR and more in theatre mode? I get sick even if I am not moving very much in the scene.

The human mind is not meant to experience something like vr to begin with but that ain´t a problem since it can adapt to it, so even if those games “aren´t made to be played in full-vr” doesn´t mean your brain/mind can´t adapt to it, if that would be the case then it also wouldn´t be able to adapt to regular vr-games. In your/this case it just needs longer then.

    Any suggestions welcome.

Keep playing and make the right pauses as soon you get that sick-feeling, give your brain/mind the time it needs to adapt to it.

Any advice of similar profiles that may work for the deleted profiles

It´s an actual easy task to get hands on “similiar profiles” and all it takes is to know what engine certain games are using so then you know what profiles you can use for your game of choice, which of course has to use the exact same engine.

is now not yet possible to play far cry 6 in 3d, with z-normal?

3D can be troublesome with DX12, in certain cases certain games still keep running in 3D (if i remember correctly then HORIZON ZERO DAWN was one of the few still running in 3D even it uses DX12)

FARCRY 6 seems to be running with DX12 since one of its latest updates, so there was happening the same with RESIDENT EVIL (remake) getting a DX12-Update and since then refusing to run in 3D.

I was enjoying RE in 3D by the way, until those capcom-dorks decided to update the game with DX12 so then i had to continue playing the game in “boring” 2D then LOL.

Seems to be a common thing these days to do updates on games and suddenly change from DX11 to DX12, so i hate to say it but in certain cases it´s probably better to just pirate certain games and keep the game from doing certain more or less “useless” updates, especially when those are “destroying” a vorpX-3D experience that way.

Edit: Regarding your question, switching to 3D just made the glitch go away but i didn´t notice any 3D-effects so i am afraid the answer is “no”.

I remember other threads where the “issue” of disappearing game profiles is discussed or mentioned, yet i don´t understand if there is an “issue” at all, since you can make up a profile of every game yourself, based on other similiar profiles using the same game engine.

In other words, only because certain profiles disappear, doesn´t necessarily mean that those games do not work with vorpX as it is just up to some user making a new profile all over again.

sorry, but you play far cry 6, with vorpx, in 2d? without 3d effect?

LOL I play almost all of my games in vorpX without 3D-Effects, let alone Full-VR. I only try/use the latter two on certain occiasons.

And nope, free vr-desktop apps can be very troublesome with certain games so since i have wasted too many troublesome hours with those free apps, vorpX is the deal, regardless if i am using its great 3D/Full-VR options or not.

Vanguard is DX12, that´s why 3D is problematic.

The Z3D/Adaptive option is ALWAYS there, regardless if a game is compatible with it or not.

In my opinion and after my experience, motion sickness can easily be overcome with just getting used to it.

I was easily getting sick pretty bad, moving through VR without teleporting was good as impossible for me without getting sick to the point of having cold sweat on my face.

I exactly remember how i couldn´t play DOOM VR any other way but teleporting. So when i tried the regular fluid walking-way more often, i noticed how easier it got and how i was able to play the game that way even longer, to the point where i was actually able to play it one hour straight the “regular” way rather than teleporting and so i was also able to play other games without getting sick so fast or not getting sick at all.

I also understand that it can be very troublesome for new vr-users while making them quit it too soon, since that sickness can be really bad (as it happened to me before i got used to it).

So people must be aware that just getting used to it is all what it takes to overcome it.

Most important thing is to realize as to when first signs of “slight” motion sickness are showing and instantly stop playing, otherwise it gets real bad with every other second you´re staying there and also stays that way for about 10 minutes (or even longer) even when you took off the goggles.
